Premier League Matchday 4 (Sep 9-11)

Because Madrid never signed Beckham from us and football was invented in 2008... :wenger::wenger:

Yes, sure go back another 100 years and you'll find some more. The fact remains in almost 10 years barring DDG, we've never had good players that Real or Barca would be desperate to poach from us.

I'd take him, in reality, he's a good footballer. Just one of those days for you guys where nothing went right.
It certainly's not a great day for us. :(

What are you on about? With eleven men it was a tight game, 1-0, and Liverpool looked threatening on the counter. Salah should have made it 1-1.

Instead, Mane gets sent of, City go 2-0 up just before the break, and it's pure damage limitation.

Klopp wrote it off, taking Salah and Firminho off early, and that helped the pathetic display after that.

A bit disappointed at that really, I guess he was thinking about this weekend's matches? It looks like it's going to be a long season...

Good performance from us despite playing v 10. Liverpool are a shambles at the back. Way worse than we are. Even with 10 men they shouldn't be giving up chances like that. Could have been 8 or 9 nil. Won't read to much into our performance, we coped well with Liverpools pace 11 v 11 but they got in a couple of times. We could still do with a bit calmness at the back.

Liverpools back 4/5 were atrocious.

When you say "coped well", do you mean the 2 times you had to floor Mane and Salah desperately on the edge of your box, or the couple of times they should have scored after that? Salah's chance being a huge miss at 1-0.

A lot of the people on here are missing the point, that it wasn't just having a player sent off, it was having THE main player sent off. With Mane and Salah around, you can't over commit either wing, or you'll be exposed.

With Mane sent off, and being the huge threat, Liverpool were completely shot, and had conceded straight after before they could re-organise.

It certainly's not a great day for us. :(

This is a real change of mood from last weekend. Just shows how things can change quickly. You could be on top of the world again next week.

If you lose out on something on goal difference he might regret it!
Taking Salah off was the surprising one. Firminho isn't running away from anyone, so you lost any chance of a counter.

If I were a Pool fan, I'd be worried at how reliant you are on those wide boys

Klopp at post-match: 'Valencia was clearly offside'.

It's like in boxing. After you have been badly bruised, battered, and knocked out with a vicious upper cut or blow to your temple, things get very, very hazy after then. You can't see well, you can't stand straight and Jesus will start appearing like Valencia to you. That's what happened to Klopp.

Mane being red-carded isnt an excuse; rather it is an indication of the quality of their squad and management. Without Mane they completely lost their attacking impetus; Salah is a pacy player that needs a million chances to score and Firmino is heavily reliant on Mane's movement. Klopp seems to have no idea how to set up a solid defense.

When Chelsea lose Hazard they still have Morata, Willian and Pedro. When City lose Aguero they still have Sane, Jesus and De Bruyne. When United lose Lukaku, we have Martial, Rashford and Mkhitaryan.

A certain Coutinho would have made this Liverpool team a lot better.

My emotions are really confused as to how they should feel about that match.

I'm happy that Liverpool got thumped but sad that City did the thumping.

Me too. Feeling very confused right now. Need a good United victory later to restore some order and normality to this situation.

Nah, I already figured (you can search my post history) that we were going to be in for a long season regardless. CL + League and barely any reinforcements, especially at the back. Going in with a CB roster of Matip, Lovren, Klavan and Gomez does not fill me with confidence.

Yea, it did feel like we threw in the towel then.

Loads of great matches right now. Indian TV decides to show Arsenal vs Bournemouth. Fair enough.

Maybe Klopp needs to look at himself and his signings rather than looking for others to blame.
