Are you the ref?
It really is baffling how, in all these preseason games, we have played like some second division team trying to hold out for a draw at the Bernabeu

Defensively very solid, dreadful going forward.

That was brutal to watch. We're solid at the back but offer absolutely nothing going forward. Sanchez and Rashford hasn't had the ball since the 20th minute and are dropping lower with every minute gone. We still can't play against teams that press us hard, and there's no progress in this team since last season, at least so far.

Will be a long, frustrating season ahead the way we are playing.
Sanchez has been on the ball since then, he did good work in the build-up to Shaw's ball through to Mata. He's also had a few other bursts but to be fair looks isolated on our left side, as does Rashford in the middle.

Don't worry guys. Signing yet another centre back is the key to unlocking this team's potential.

Would be nice if Bayern let us have a kick second half. Back 6 working a treat.

Genuine question here. Why are you surprised? It's how we played for most of last season. Unless we change manager the way we play isn't going to change.

Really disappointed, is Jose becoming outdated? Why do we seem to want hoof balls to the target man that doesn't exist, Rashford is not target man like Lukaku, Sanchez is small.

Bailly is doing great. So long as the ball in not in air, he's amazing.

Allegedly he's covering well and having a decent game. Allegedly
Mata is past it and shouldn’t be used in the games were we will see little of the ball as he doesn’t have pace to hurt opposition.

Can’t wait fir Pogba and Lukaku to cone back

Absolutely zero threat in attack offered up here. Alexis is trying but nobody else is.

Very solid defensive shape by United but little intent going forward. That's how I'll summarise the first half.

I expected shit attacking football and league titles under Mourinho. So far we've only seen one of those two (in abundance) and no threat of the other.
Well if Man City weren't so good we would have won the title no? Or are you not buying that?

I can accept football like this when we are missing so many players, and we are playing away to Bayern Munchen. The problem is that this isn't the exception - it's more like the rule

Bayern look much more up for it than we do. We look miserable, even without possession. Absolutely shameful performance
Nah, we struggle to produce something meaningful just the same as the last few years.

At this point, it's useless to blame the players. Mata was a brilliant player for Chelsea. As was Alexis for Arsenal, Herrera was good for Athletic Bilbao, Martial and Rashford for LVG's United etc.

Can't wait for the actual match threads given it's like this in here for a friendly :nervous::houllier:

Bayern are better than us and basically have their strongest team and are at home. We want to win and trouble the opposition better than this but there's really no point us destroying ourselves in this temperature 5 days before the PL starts.
Agreed. Besides, we are defending well. Not too bad at all that first half.

We've set up the counter and, for the most part, we've done the defensive bit well. However, we've had a couple of chances to counter quickly that have been snuffed out because of holding the ball too long. If we can release it from midfield just a bit more quickly we could probably get at this Bayern defence. Still, its only preseason I guess. Fortunately, since the water break, Darmian has improved a bit. Sadly, Shaw and Mata are still playing at 5/10 level.

We can't play possession football

We can't play counter attacking football

What is it that we can do again?
