Qatar WC | Fans and Atmosphere Watch

Doesn't sound too bad right now, presumably the Ecuador fans are actual Ecuador fans bringing the usual great South American noise.

I wonder how many of that yellow patch of “Ecuadorian fans“ are actually just Indians dressed in yellow.

We don't need to generate interest. We sell out 100,000 seat stadiums with outrageous ticket prices for pre-season friendlies for European clubs.. There will be no lack of interest in a North American world cup, regardless of what happens here.
Im not talking about selling tickets. I’m talking about revenue dollars in viewership. It’s a secondary thought in 75% of sports viewers in the US right now as you know. The US broadcast in this world cup is a preview of the next one. So no rocking the boat with talk of human rights and the like.

Looked level with the second-to-last defender (the keeper). 50/50 call. Should've stood.

Eh... I see where you're coming from... In some ways things aren't utter shite (yet). But I think any and all criticism has more justification than usual simply because Qatar has absolutely no business hosting a WC. It's utter nonsense. The *only* reason it was awarded to them was through crazy bribes. They're not a football nation. They didn't have the stadiums, and killed thousands in getting them built. They didn't have the climate, forcing everyone to build a season around a fecking winter WC. It simply shouldn't have gone down like this. They deserve lots of criticism.

Each to their own but non of what you have said is criticism worthy for me except the deaths of the workers.

All the rest is a load of bollox for me personally.

Beyond the litany of other reasons, the country is too small to host a WC.

I don't know about that tbh. I do know that in many places around that way things are different to what we are used to. So majority of Egyptians live in Cairo, miles and miles of Saudi are just desert etc. Also interestingly using tents is quite common and even for royalty.

Where’s that bloke who was saying Qatar have been building a good side behind the scenes and will surprise everyone?

The only people who are surprised are the Qatar players who are playing a good team for the first time ever.

Only watching the goals on twitter because feck this competition, but does Valencia usually not celebrate when he scores?

I don’t know about the calm down thing, but both goals have seen big celebrations. Suspect your stream/video isn’t showing the full thing. Both have seen 20 man celebrations and rehearsedshit.

Yeah it was the BBC clip, just showed him doing the calm down for a few seconds for both of the goals.

Clearly a thing, but he was full of smiles shortly after, team and subs formed a circle, pointed at the sky etc. no idea what the initial hand thing is.

My favourite thing in that match was the fake Qatar “ultras” and Dion Dublins commentary that went with it, completely clueless at to how fake those “ultras” were.
i mean there were several give aways as to their fakeness but the sheer number of them whom had tattoos was the dead give away

I like the giveaway shirts they were all wearing.

I guess in the end Qatar couldn't even make it an hour into the tournament without revealing what an utter farce this is. Impressive.

Let's face it, aside from the knock out rounds with the bigger teams this is probably the highest capacity game we're going to see. Expect feck all atmosphere.

I would genuinely have the vuvuzelas back at this point.

So what’s the craic with them? Where are they imported from?
