Rolls-Royce.

He rarely plays poorly for us. In fact one of the most consistent players in this squad. It's just the injuries that are hurting him, but he should never be dropped for anyone.

He's good enough to be part of a title winning team(obviously).

It's just a matter of whether it's worth keeping him that long in hopes of assembling that team or just cashing in when he still has value.

Absolute beast. He's had his fair share of shite performances but he's got the highest ceiling of all our centre backs.

Imperious. Doesn't help our build up but he offers far too much defensively not to play him at the moment.

Looking forward to having Martinez back next to him, if either of them can actually keep fit.

Class isn’t he. Maguire has done ok this season but seeing Varane is like having a Rolls Royce

Hope he’s sorted with the manager now there’s no excuse to not partner him with Maguire
Won't happen, both want the LCB role.

Oh and Maguire is still shit, just looks less shit in a collectively shit side.

When the toilet is full of turds, he stands out less but when flushed and he's the only fecker that won't he's recognisable.

Your MOTM by a mile today (Shaw was very good defensively aswell).

I know him and ETH had an issue around the Manchester derby but Ten Hag hasn't helped himself one little bit just benching him for game after game after game for seemingly last six weeks.

Guy might be made of glass but he's a world class CB when he gets his fitness up. Man. United in the state they're in need that quality of player out on the pitch as much as possible.

A world class defender. Showed it today. And he's sitting on the fecking bench every week.

Himself and Evans were so calm as a pair especially in periods where Liverpool had corners and frees they won most of the headers.

When he's fit he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

It makes you wonder why he hasn't played in a while, even though he's healthy.

Our best player today, by a mile.

As good as he is, he can't play 2 games in a week.

A settled defensive partnership is very important.

Unless we are missing a big piece of information, you are correct.
Aye, although a tonne of our fans had also bizarrely written him and Cas off, as though players turn from WC to shite over the course of a single Summer.
We wouldn’t let any of those fans manage our club mind, and as you say, unless we’re missing some critical piece of information, the situation here really does seem like a manager cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Maguire can be on his peak form and he's still not as good as Rafa on an average day.

It makes you wonder why he hasn’t been playing, maybe it’s a fitness thing. They wanted to work him back in very slowly so he can reach optimal fitness, and actually stay fit? I suspect it’s a combination of his fitness and the manager just throwing shit at the wall.

Regardless of the reason, he’s made himself undroppable after that performance today. Assuming, that is, the manager sees it the same way we do.

If Lindelof was fit he could, he could have been on the bench. Just think about that.

There have been some embarrassing posts in this thread about Varane, to make things worse a lot of hate was directed his way when he wasn't even playing.

Easily our best defender.

Possibly, especially if we're only playing one game per week.

Personally, I think Casemiro and him are eyeing a lucrative late career in Saudi....

One thing I'd like to say is ETH probably cost us a decent amount of results when he dropped Varane for that period.

Was not a good decision and that's been proven the last two games

Yeah I'm annoyed by this. Ten hag should have played Varane more, probably the Bournemouth game specifically where we got shat on with headers and cutbacks.

Clearad everything in the air and most of the balls on the ground. Big factor for today’s point.

Gotta say I am shocked and surprised that 4 time CL winner who is 30(not 50, as many would want you believe) can actually play well as left CB. Absolutely shocking stuff.
Defensively he’s fine on both sides but he looks very awkward with the ball to the left. In a match like this where we don’t try to be creative from the back and both CBs have 55 passes together it doesn’t really matter.
