He's actually a left winger.7/10.

I think we will make an announcement to shift focus from our shambolic transfer window. It will most likely be De Gea's contract extension.Am I the only one that feels there will be a big announcement tomorrow for a player none of us thought we would sign or be linked to? Happened with Martial on deadline day. One can hope. Come on Ed and Matt! Get something sorted for us!!!!
You forgot Hannibal Mejbri, elite midfield talent.7/10.

He's a winger. Can play both sides, and is right footed. Played more on the left in the championship because his manager preferred an inverted winger. Has played more on the right in preseason, and looked pretty darn good at it.He's actually a left winger.
Absolutely! If it was 2029 and we paid $200 million - that would make you happy? You forgot Hannibal Mejbri, elite midfield talent.

Almost all managers prefer inverted wingers and modern wingers play on the "wrong" side because they can switch to their stronger foot when they cut in.He's a winger. I would absolutely love to have 200m player in the squad who would accept Europa League level.Absolutely! If it was 2029 and we paid $200 million - that would make you happy?
Besides, most people giving low ratings because of not clearing deadwood should be happier at the end of the month.
No. You've been absolutely focussed on showing me how my notion that Lukaku had been marginalized was wrong, right up until I gave context to the stats you eagerly shared with me me. Your proceeding post then had absolutely nothing go do with what we had been discussing the last 5 hours. So, instead of actually addressing the points you were wrong on, you've moved the conversation full circle. Who's moving the goal posts exactly? You did the same exact same thing when you accused me of saying it had been a great window, despite me previously giving it a 6. You're throwing shit and seeing what sticks.I think you are moving goal posts, mate. What I said from the off is that we didn't replace Lukaku in terms of CF position. Not Lukaku as a player himself. Yes, obviously Ole doesn't fancy him and he wouldn't stay, but that also doesn't mean that we shouldn't replace him in the team as a striker.
My point was that, even though he didn't fancy him, he still used him a lot because he didn't have a replacement for that position. He doesn't have one either.
Greenwood would of course get games and minutes but we can't use him in Lukaku's place - playing 70-80% of the games as a starter.
Mata, Sanchez, etc they are not fighting for place in the same position, Alexis was tried and he didn't work. Mata is way off in terms of being used as a striker. We have Rashford, Martial, Sanchez, throw in James and Greenwood for 3 positions. Two of them haven't played at senior level. Even Messi was eased into that Barca team despite being an obvious talent. That's not enough you have to agree.
I agree that the window has been a joke but disagree on prioritising an attacking midfielder over an attacker. Our attack is simply too green with no proven goal scorers and we will surely regret not bringing in a RW/CF when the goals dry up. Out of the top 6, only Chelsea have an equally bad attack as us.I can cope without investing up front but we have been screaming for creativity in central midfield for six years yet it is Spurs who already have some class that seem to be doing the business.
What we would give for Ndombele. And they want more.
We.are a joke
Lukaku played a lot of games under Ole. Like it or not he was not used only in handful of games, which I've already brought stats for. Lukaku also, as any player, can have dips in form or can be given a rest, just like any player. At the end of the day he played more than 3000 minutes for United last year, 45 games - most under Ole.No. You've been absolutely focussed on showing me how my notion that Lukaku had been marginalized was wrong, right up until I gave context to the stats you eagerly shared with me me. Your proceeding post then had absolutely nothing go do with what we had been discussing the last 5 hours. How do you replace someone who has played 45 games last year with someone who has played 3 games in his career and is a teenager at a club fighting for top 4? Did Messi, Ronaldo and one of the very best players over the last decade(and even history) play 45 games in their opening seasons at a top club? Let's be serious for a second, do you honestly expect Greenwood to play in 45 games next season? We've replaced Lukaku with Greenwood. You might not like that but thats what has happened. As I've already demonstrated, and you have so far you've left completely unaddressed because it didn't suit your 'narrative'; when all our players were fit Lukaku wasn't getting many minutes anyway. Greenwood will take those minutes. It was only because we had 4 players pick up injuries within the space of a few weeks, all of whom missed at least 6 games, that Lukaku was getting regular game time at all.
Then you replace him with a fluid, pressing striker, you had the whole Summer to identify a target and do just that. The point is we didn't bring a forward who can play 45 games and take Lukaku's position in the team. You know when you fail to do that it doesn't really make it a great Summer or average one. A striker/forward position is fairly important.Come on, the bolded part is just lazy. Martial and Rashford are seen as Ole's preferred central strikers, but if our wide forwards pick up an injury then either of the aforementioned players can step in to replace them. Ole wants a fluid front line anyway, which is one of the reasons he's so eager to move on Lukaku. A static, central striker is the last thing he wants.
Again you expect some lads that didn't kick a football at top level to play 40-50 games next season? Are we in a worse state in attack than last year? Absolutely. Sanches is an year older, injury prone and to use your term - marginalized by Ole. Mata is an year older on the wrong side of 30 and declining every year.Do I think we need to sign another attacking player? Absolutely, but you're trying to make out we've got less options than we did last season, when in fact we have more. Greenwood is taking Lukaku's minutes and we've brought James in.
[/QUOTE]Which brings us back to my original point. We haven't addressed every position that needs addressing and we very light in some areas, but we've managed to fill two vital positions with quality and kept our two most influential players, who looked likely to leave at the beginning of the window. We've also made room for some of the very exciting talent we've developed. So it's not been a brilliant window by any stretch of the imagination, but it hasn't been woeful either. The 2s, 3s and 4s in this thread is typical cafe.
And injuries will happen again. So your main point is Greenwood will take his place. Do you believe honestly he will play 3000 minutes?feck me @Enigma_87 I've given the details that show, categorically, Lukaku only got minutes because of a rift of injuries, and yet here you are, still rambling on in a vain attempt to prove otherwise. The stats are there. They are comprehensive. It's mind boggling you're still trying to argue it. There's really no point in carrying on. Reply if you must. I won't bother.
100% agree with this. Fantastic that it looks like Pogba and De Gea are staying, and the defence looks great with AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw.Goalkeeper - Looks like De Gea has signed/will be so despite my reservations on his decline he’s one of the best when settled
Defence - Maguire & AWB are great signings [potentially] but Shaw & Lindelof remain & we will still see Ashley Young’a’plenty when Shaw pulls his hamstring at some point. We also have multiple defenders that aren’t rated & are taking up squad positions.
Midfield - Absolutely shambolic from the club. Fellaini & Herrera needed replacing, I suppose McTominay can be seen as being truly promoted but Matic still being a first choice DM is ridiculous.
Attack - We simply aren’t going to score the goals/create the chances. Whilst a strong defence is great, we’ll be scuppered when we go behind. Only justifiable reason for not strengthening these areas is if Chong & Greenwood get a lot of chances. Lakaku [despite being an unprofessional idiot] is also a 20 goal a season striker we’ll be losing [bar last season].
I feel sorry for OgS here, massive holes in the squad that haven’t been filled & he’ll be just as shackled in the January window.
What do Woodward & Co. do? Part of the job has to be conducting business that will be concluded in the off season; it’s always a scattergun approach.
