That'd be Todd Boehly. Wants the big star names to help also attract lucrative sponsors. Its why, out of the rumoured names, he is the one we should hope gets it.
Todd Boehly is just another sharp businessman and investor. He is definitely not interested in losing money or backstopping a bunch of losses.

People think he will throw cash around because the Dodgers spend a lot of money but they have the highest (along with the Yankees) revenues in MLB. They are like United, they spend a lot because they earn a lot.

Copied from Reddit because I obviously have no morals...

Summary:
  • Roman Abramovich has given the green light for the sale of Chelsea to go ahead, with bids now expected to be considered by the end of next week.
  • Raine had set a deadline of next Tuesday for first bids, but that is now set to be pushed back to the end of next week to allow for the 24-hour pause in the process and to try to attract more bidders.
  • There is currently a three-way shootout for Chelsea between three American-led groups. Todd Boehly’s consortium has made a bid of between £2billion and £2.5bn, with the Ricketts family and Woody Johnson also thought to have put forward proposals.
  • The fact Chelsea seem prepared to wait until the end of next week for bids to be considered would suggest the club has enough cash to operate under sanctions in the short-term
  • The club’s main shirt sponsor Three have suspended their deal and asked for their logo to be taken off, but Chelsea do not have a stock of blank shirts to use. That means the players are likely to either still wear the Three logo or it will be covered up.
  • Chelsea will continue to pay staff members, even if they have been stood down, but freelance and contract staff will not be paid.
  • Chelsea’s Champions League trip to Lille next Wednesday will not be impacted by the sanctions, as the club had already booked and paid for their trip to France.
See just like I said someone will ride to their rescue and these stories are just scaremongering crap

Have to say it's a bit ironic that English fans of other clubs are feeling Chelsea should be punished because of Romans money.

Where do you think UKs money came from. Eh? Need a history lesson on colonization.

By this measure, the UK should have relegated itself to how it was before the colonial era after the 50s when the likes of India got independent. This logic is cynical.

Colonization while deplorable doesn't necissate you ignore the effort put in by ordinary people. The scientists, engineers who's ingenuity helped the world and the UK through industrial revolution.

It is precisely because of this reasons UK citizens shouldn't be held responsible and are not punishable for a colonial past.

Punish Roman by all accounts but the club is more than that. Do you think the club you support is defined by your owner?

Absolving the UK, but to find Chelsea punishable because of an owner and who's money were perfectly acceptable to the UK government when the sale was made 19 years ago is hypocritical. Especially coming from English fans.

People talking about Romans pledge to support war victims.

Please look at the wording carefully and also listen to Putins Words.

Roman said he would give net profit to support the victims of war.

Putin has said many times, Russia are the victims.

At no stage has Roman ever said he will give the money to Ukraine or its people.

Roman, is only looking after one person.
Wouldn't be surprised if he considered himself a victim and kept all the money for himself.

@Zaphod2319 is having a total meltdown here constantly trying to belittle utd fans on a utd forum. Didn't know that we aren't allowed to make banters if we are going through a poor season.

Keep em coming for all the entertainment
Banter goes both ways. You obviously don’t know me if you think I am doing anything other than enjoying football.

Core issue is Ukraine. Good man. Not Chelsea. We were here before even worse than that.

All uk government did was punishing your own people by hiding behind chelsea instead of helping Ukraine people. Take refugees from that nation. Ask Putin to stop war . That's the real issue not Chelsea . Even it go bust we will come back from that . So don't talk to me what's real issue. Are you not understand what's the real issue now.
And supply weapons, training and medical supplies.

Must be enjoyable times right about now.
World Champions, Champions of Europe, it has been very enjoyable. All this is very temporary. I will be a Chelsea fan through the next owners of the team. Owners and players come and go. Some people are going bonkers with this. It will all be sorted out quickly enough.

Good that you realise who runs this world. Now fall in line like the UK Gov has and show your fervent support for the American Empire. Speaking out means you are misinformed and against freedom, peace and democracy. Stop looking at their deeds and focus on their words instead, especially that of the mainstream media.

It doesn’t matter if they forced Russia‘s hand by reneging on their promise and expanding NATO directly into Russia’s doorstep (via 14 countries), staging coups, colour revolutions and installing puppet governments along the way, while selling billions of weaponry to each Eastern European country for their Military Industrial Complex.

The liberal democracy trail over the past 2 decades are filled with sunshine and roses and instead of focusing on strengthening economic ties, I can’t wait for the US Military to pivot to my region (East Asia) over the next few years to protect their primacy at all cost.
Christ on a crutch! What in Hell is this drivel?

Few think the US is all that altruistic but you have gone off the deep end with added buzz words.

The amount of garbage spewed by chelsea fans other than a few is staggering. Their arseholes must be jealous of their mouths given the amount of shit that comes out of it. Living under Roman’s rock, eating his bread and dancing to his tune has stripped every bit of self respect and decency from that lot. The appalling shameful behaviour wrapped in victimhood is there for all to see. Beggars who know they are left with no identity and no direction in life.

Scrounging off Roman for so long has made them completely devoid of any dignity and integrity. On the one hand they portray themselves as the sufferers and on the other hand they show their utter shamelessness by chanting his name and posting tributes for him led by their leader JT. Now scraping to gain sympathy from the footballing world knowing fully well that they can’t survive without an owner like him, they are fooling no one but make no mistake they are hoping once again they get a sugar daddy like the previous one and within no time you see the return of their true self once more. You can feel their desperation and anxiety for yourself.

I don't really need to spin it anyway. If they're buying the club for £2bn or more then it's in their best interests to keep the club successful as a descend to mid table will see the club value fall through the floor.

You're right they very possibly/likely won't invest to the sheer level Abramovich did (dare I say with the coach we've got, team we already have and players coming through he won't have to) but we won't be getting a Mike Ashley either.
Usually though a self sustaining club's aim within the PL is to hit top 4 season on season. The difference in spending between getting top 4 and winning the league (City) is huge and not worth the outlay financially. There are exceptions to the rule like Liverpool under Klopp but that was fortunate as they managed to get insane money for Coutinho and elite money for Suarez which helped finance it. That and having a once in a generation manager.

It's funny how xenophobe movements like UKIP or here in Germany the AFD only ever seem to have problem with the poor foreigners, never with the rich ones. It's almost like the whole thing is fabricated to keep poor people divided. Hmm.

Klopps comments today.

Jurgen Klopp: "Did anyone really care when Roman Abramovich came to Chelsea? Did anyone really care when Newcastle got taken over? It is pretty obvious where the money is coming from. Everyone knew it, but we accepted it. That’s our fault. We accepted it."
Why is he the man who always talk sense?

I'd like to say that this couldn't happen to a more deserving club but, well, Man City.

Isn't it super fecking annoying that manager putting Liverpool back on the perch is actually a good egg?

Cnut can't even be a cnut.
Yeah, Liverpool really hit the jackpot with Klopp there.

Scrounging off Roman for so long has made them completely devoid of any dignity and integrity.
The biggest problem for chelsea is that they were not scrounging off him. Every penny he has put into the club was in the form of a loan.

And the club will owe him 1.5 billion quid, no matter who it is sold to.

That loan has nothing to do with the buying price or the current sanctions, and it is both a legal issue waiting to happen for the new owners as soon as they take over, and a problem for the government too, because they cannot unilaterally wipe out a loan to someone for a third party.

He's already said he's writing that loan off.

They can't sell players, they can't buy players, they can't sign new contracts with their players and maybe will not have money for wages and Roman can't sell club because his account is blocked. Bloody hell, what a loop. What exactly they can do?

So I thought they can‘t be sold for now, but now they have been given green light … what is it now?
