It's been said ad nauseam but he's never a Man Utd forward. A couple of nice passes in a match does not take away from the fact most of our attacking and counterattacking opportunities fail due to his shit quality.

Thought he was alright today, his crossing was dangerous and he did his defensive work.

Just wish he could get the ball to stick to his foot more, there were a fair few occasions where a poor touch put us back under pressure. And again, he loses far too many physical battles.

If anyone thinks he did well today their standards are very low or they’re just ignoring all the times he misplaces the ball or gets muscled off it because it’s such a common occurrence.

Good performance by Lukaku. Created a Lingard's one-on-one chance, dangerous crossing, contributed in defence, bullied Robertson for a header in the first half.

He was his usual clumsy self today, but at the same time he created our two best opportunities. Mixed bag today for the big man.

He did fine. Created our two best chances today and provided very good deliveries into the box.

Under a tree.
That cut in and cross from the right is really dangerous, but the rest of his game is so infuriating. He should be embarrassed being out muscled by Robertson on more then one occasion.

Also his continuous lack of movement, he just waits for the ball to come to him and the defender just steps out ahead on him, instead of being aware of it happening and reacting. Its the most frustrating aspect of his game

Maybe we should play him as an attacking right-back instead of Ashley Young? Lukaku is the best crosser of the ball in the team (Pogba aside), and his lack of first touch would be less detrimental at right back.

Tried. He’s just not a good footballer, bless him. He can cross a good ball when given space. That said, he struggles to do anything that requires more than two touches of the ball. Ideally, he’ll be shooting with his first touch, or at least the second. That’s when he’s most effective. Any more touches than that required, you can almost guarantee a turnover of possession.

Unless he somehow improves his buildup play and technical ability, I can't see him staying here unless he wants to continue warming the bench. If Solskjaer or even Pochettino is the next manager, he just doesn't fit the kind of football they play.

The limitations we're seeing are the things which anyone could see when he played for Everton. These are the same things which made me lean towards signing Morata ahead of Lukaku but even then, Morata wasn't a success so far but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have been a success playing for us.

World class...in standing and waiting a ball to come to him, nobody is better. Had decent crosses and he did good at one or two back tracking but in general, same old more or less, our right side today, him and Young wombo combo with arms pointing.

Think he was OK -ish today, worked his ass off and created that chance for Smalling but his first touch is so infuriating, also he gets bullied off the ball far too often by smaller guys which is unacceptable for a guy his size.

Mostly looked uncomfortable with the ball. But did provide a beautiful pass to Lingard and some great crosses. 6/10 performance.

Actually thought he was good as a striker, he looked well up for it. Was a shame we had to move to the right, but he did well there too. Didn't think there was much else he could have done really, the injuries limited our attacking game.

Very responsible defensively and could've had a nice assist for Lingard but also had his usual moments of poor first touches and choosing the wrong pass, he also got out muscled for the ball a few times by Robertson which was disappointing.

One nice cross and he worked hard so that's commendable.

But my word he was probably still the worst attacker on the pitch.

Just bizzare the shit hes gets irrespective of how he plays. He could and probably should have had 2 assists today, and a penalty to boot. He worked hard defensively, too.

Robertson’s shrugged him off the ball two or three times quite noticably. His touch is getting worse.

2 decent crosses but man we really need to upgrade him

I think with a full team we comfortably beat Liverpool today tbh

This right here! He covered a lot of defensive ground in the second half and to some that constitutes an okay game. We applaud him for doing the bare minimum which is very disappointing. He is supposed to be one of the stars in our team and we need to stop lowering our standards when it comes to him all because he gets a lot of stick from the fans even though they are all justified.

Although he created the best chances there were other opportunities for even more chances which were killed because of his limitations. Its the cost of having him in the team I guess but enough is enough and he should be moved on in the summer. It's just never going to work.

Regardless of those 2 chances do you actually believe his general play was good or you just have a soft spot for Him? You don't think we could have been more successful with another quality forward in his place that could actually keep hold of the ball and not be a dead end in midfield?

His pass success rate was 52%. 3rd lowest after Lingard and De Gea and one of those only played 20 minutes.
Also had 2 bad touches according to WhoScored, which was was the highest in this game, along with Rashford who was injured. Only Rashford was dispossessed more than him.

I know stats aren't the be all and end all, and he did at least track back well and put in some good passes, but it's not enough when the rest of your game is so poor.

I don't have a soft spot for him, long term I think he needs to be replaced, but that doesn't mean I have to disregard a good game from him. Why are we disregarding those two chances? How many other chances did the other 13 players combined create today?

Nothing bizarre about it at all. He’s a fecking striker man, an expensive one at that. I want my United striker to put the ball in the net, not put in a shift. The downing of standards in order to defend months of shite form is far more baffling.

And how many chances did he create? Describe to me the other chances we created today where he wasn't involved.

Great through-ball for Jesse's big chance. Some superb crosses. Could have done better with his header towards the end of the first half, though not much momentum on Sanchez's cross by the time it reached him. Apart from that very untidy, continually losing possession, movement not much help to our midfield in the first half.

You can't just have one or two decent moments and be terrible the rest of the time. People have argued that case for ages with certain players, but now we're actually seeing them play well throughout games and not just the odd moment (Martial for example). The difference is massive.

Credit to Lukaku for those moments, but he's terrible.
