In candid honesty, it's probably not about him anymore. It's about being proven right. We've been banging our heads against a wall for two or three seasons saying he's finished and having people tell us he's a "legend" and we're wrong.
We've been pissed off at his attitude towards the club, the "nothing to prove" comments, his lack of professionalism and how quick he has been to blame others for his failings.
So excuse us if there's an element of "told you so" and a seasoning of shadenfraude in our posts. It's interesting that the ones telling us not to gloat are the ones who had been blindly supporting him for the last few years.
It's why I'm happy to put it out there that I expect him to subtly slag the club off this season and criticise us in ways that absolve him of blame. It's why I'm confident enough in his egotism to say that he's going to be shit for Everton and then accuse the management of not using him correctly or getting the tactics wrong. He's mates in the media will be in full PR mode.
I'm happy to say that because I know with absolute certainty that he will prove me right because that's the real Wayne Rooney, not the guy his PR team has the media paint him to be.
FellainiRooney was the last remnants of Moyes, glad they're both gone.
There's no evidence to suggest that would be the case. We were worse in Van Gaal's second season than we were in his first and I didn't see anything that Van Gaal was doing which would suggests he could have remedied that.He doesn't actually say that we "should have stuck with him" exactly. Just that it would hve gotten better if we stuck with Van Gaal, which I also agree with, but am much happier we have Mourinho.
This."My captain shall always play"
Now he's got rid of dead weight like you and things will get better.“Jose came in and last season in the league we struggled and weren’t consistent enough. Obviously in the cups United did well.”
With Wayne, systems and philosophies don't matter. He played the same, one way under both LvG and Jose - shite. He'll get flack for this but at the end of the day it boils down to personal preference, some players will believe in a manager's style of play/philosophy while others won't.
He's hardly going to sing Mourinho's praises having been edged out under him.
That's true but boy, the contrast when talking about LVG and Mourinho .“He [Van Gaal] got a lot of stick. I believe if he stayed it would have got better,” Rooney said in an interview with Talksport.
“He looked at all the small details not only off the pitch but on the pitch.
“I think the one thing he did was keep the standards with the players, he was demanding the best from you every day.
“Jose came in and last season in the league we struggled and weren’t consistent enough. Obviously in the cups United did well.”
