Roy Keane the pundit

I listen when Keane's talking. I'm not always on his side, but it's refreshing that he doesn't stick to making excuses. Found it hilarious when he said he hadn't talked as much as Poggers did to his brothers in the last 5 years. On a more serious note, Mourinho should've done better this season and Kane has every right to call him out on that. United shouldn't lower their high standards, IMO.

I think I agree with Keane about the negativity and the moaning but I do get fed up with him sometimes. That documentary he did with Vieira was brilliant but he had to ruin it by coming across bitter about Fergie and choosing Clough instead (a man who once punched him in the stomach and made him cry after making a mistake in a game). His combined Utd and Arsenal team was a bit of a joke too as he clearly picked players that were like him and confrontational and moreover he omitted Scholes before Vieira had to tell him to put him in which he ended up doing.

Because Keane is bitter as feck. This is the same Roy Keane who didn't include Giggs, Scholes or Neville in his best United team because they are close to Fergie. The man has lost it since he retired. He'll just say anything for controversy these days and holds a big grudge against United and Mourinho. Scholes doesn't.

He picked fecking Paul Parker at right back ahead of Gary Neville. Unbelievable bitterness.

I used to love Keane but the night he defended the Nani red card against Real Madrid was when he jumped the shark for me. It felt like he was revelling in being the contrarian, everyone else in the studio agreed it was a bad decision from the ref, and enjoying how much it would have hurt Fergie.

He's a parody of himself now. They showed the photo of the Barcelona players celebrating in the dressing room after the 6-1 against PSG on the ITV highlights show and of course Keane won't stand for any of that. These are players that between them have won everything there is to win, countless times for club and country celebrating the most astonishing comeback ever and Keane is slagging them off for celebrating. fecking hell cheer up you miserable cnut!

He was angrily adamant about it as well. That was a fecking disgusting decision and I'd question that slick haired weasel dick of a nationalist ref about his true motivations for fecking Utd up that night. Keane actually cowed Lee Dixon into not expanding on the injustice of the decision. Not that it still bothers me almost every day. That said, Roy's at least half right about Jose's inability to talk about what the players actually do on the pitch instead of flights, scheduling, organization, the referee, the FA, pitches, and characters in the bible.

Keano just being himself, dead honest and speaking his mind. Posters on here are hypocrites when it comes to Keane, slating him and thinking he has a grudge and bitterness about United. But at the same time loving him when he's just as negative about others. Nobody calls him out for being disrespectful when saying Uniteds reserves could beat Rostov, because it's true.

Keano is right about Jose talking rubbish about the schedule, he could have rotated the team. Jose has a point about congestion, but let's be honest, he doesnt have to tell the media every other day, and again, he could have rotated.

He put Paul Ince in his team over Scholsey as well :wenger: He also made a comment about Giggs too was something like "just because you've won loads of trophies doesn't mean your a good player" That documentary was out around the same time Fergie released his book and the Class of 92 movie was out as well. It was like Keane had to disrespect Fergie's loyal players to get one back at him. Pathetic. And yeah I was shocked and fuming when he defended the referee over that red card.

His bitterness towards SAF clouds his judgement. It's too bad because he is one of my favorite United players ever and I look forward to hearing his opinion on things.

Roy Keane in being a complete tw@t shocker.
Loved him as a player. Hate him as a pundit (ABU cheerleader).

tbf to what Keane is saying, the stuff around the banana did look a bit staged. Keane is a just a very angry guy, he could have put it across in a lighter tone, but i am not sure he is capable of that

Yeah that documentary gave me a similar impression. There was a definite vibe that he didn't want to pick any of the traditional Fergie fledgings (I believe he put Ince ahead of Scholes) and when he was questioned about the best aspects and worst of Fergie's managerial style I believe he answered ruthlessness for both. He was very hesitant to say anything remotely positive about him.

Ah speaking ones mind, the excuse of arseholes and idiots world over.

Our reserves would not beat Rostov thats absurd and he's only not called out on as he claimed other ridiculous things such as a banana based conspiracy ffs. The mans a failure at man management, he should reflect whether he's qualified to question how a manager handles such situations.

I'd love to here his opinions on a whole host of issuss though such as climate change but it would only be to laugh at him.

It's a job for him. He has to be controversial. Can't hack it as a manager, so he talks shit now to get paid. Shame really. Great player, but a bitter twat.

Do you guys think Keane ever wishes he could drop his 'ultimate hard man' schtick and try to act like a normal human being again?

Absolutely the man is as insecure a personality as you could ever find. He eats himself up inside.

A pyschiatrist would have a field day with Keano.

His bitterness about everything in life since Fergie let him go highlights his insecurities.

I know people who know him personally. He can be bi-polar. Depends what side of the bed he gets out of.

Got to laugh at this thread. Posters queuing up to accuse Keane of being bitter and angry whilst hurling all sorts of nasty name calling themselves.

All he said is that Mourinho is talking rubbish

The angry reaction on display here is something else.

You must've started following football this week. It is not only about what he said here. There is a large body of evidence supporting the fact that he is a bitter, angry, non-sense spewing, man.

This is just the most recent example.

It's the most recent example of Keane the pundit calling something nonsense or rubbish. Which is about as extreme as his punditry gets. Frightening stuff.

Now look at some of the remarks in this thread. He's bi-polar/a twat/a cnut/only likes himself/insecure/a parody.

I don't know how you guys get through life when you take such exception to fairly tame remarks about something as inconsequential as football.

This. And i agree with Keane. He knows what he is talking about.

Yeah the vitriol against Keane is something else. He always spoke his mind. People are over sensitive.
So he prefers Ince to Scholes. So what. Ince was a fantastic midfielder in his day. Ditto Paul Parker over Neville. Parker was a very good fullback and England international. Now I might not agree with his chosen best 11, but it's his choice.
I always enjoy Keane. I find his honesty refreshing.

I might be biased because Keane has always been one of my favourite players but like i used to like his playing style, i also prefer his type of punditry. I don't think it's a hardman act, he has always been like this. I prefer this type of pundit, who tell it like they see it, rather than the politically correct crap. Furthermore, like i said before, i completely agree with his assessment that it was just an act. Mourinho has done this type of stunts plenty of times during his career. It fits his victimhood agenda when things don't go his way.

All those things happens to other teams and their players in England. Nothing so special about it. Every fans think everyone else is attacking their teams.

There is no indication that EPL wants their teams to do better in Europe. So it answers the question itself.

No one said he can't talk nonsense. He can. Just as people can call him out for talking nonsense too. People have to live with that also. Jose the winner defines him. Not just the trash talker who loses his shit.

A lot of ex players said mind games are nonsense. If so, taking pressure off the boys by talking shit could be that too. What more is that players at this club and this level always have pressure. You would want them to be thrived under it most of the time. That's how you create winners.

Funny thing is there is not much proof that this trash talking is helping in anyway about how we are playing when he does it. Between Nov-Dec, we won a lot and he was calm as cucumber most of the time. Our mind master SAF even pointed out that.

Point is that he is probably doing it because he can't control it when he gets emotional more so than all these mastermindings of taking the pressure off from the boys. He laid it to a lot of his own players before. It sure took pressures off from the chelsea boys that they thought they didn't have to compete anymore and being in epl was enough last season.

Never said Pogba is bad. In fact I like him and I think he will be an excellent player once he learns some more discipline as a CM.

Yes, maybe he is doing it because he can't control his emotions, maybe not. We don't really know, do we? But a manager with his pedigree certainly knows a few things.

My point is that United knew exactly what we were signing. Mourinho has always been an open book. What you see is what you get. There is nothing he has done or said that surprises anyone. So, let's see how we fare at the end of the season. Personally, I see a lot of progress already and I think those press statements have always been his way of navigating tricky periods of seasons. Naturally, some will not fancy them at all, but from a broad perspective, I think they provide entertainment value. Football needs the screaming Conte, the bouncing Klopp and the arrogant, trash talking Jose as much as it needs the amiable Carlo Ancellotti and the gentle Claudio Raneiri.

He gives his opinion and more often than not he is right ... He is certainly right in this case and I'd much rather listen to him than the ppl on here spitting garbage because someone dares to tell it as it is.

He isn't being bitter or twisted for speaking the truth but those who claim he is are the real bitter ones

Have actually met Joe and I agree he can appear a right knob on TV but he is actually a very, very nice man and absolutely hilarious.

True but unlike keane Joe is a guy who is totally fake and does it for the attention

But unlike most arseholes or idiots, Keane actually gets paid to speak his mind. I am confident that our second string players could have seen through the EL games, and i understand why Jose doesnt like to rotate, but Keane is right when calling Jose out on the schedule. He is not saying Jose is not capable of managing United, it's him saying Jose needs to man up. I admit the banana gate is over the top, but we all know Keane, hes always been a man getting angry over nothing, and he probably sees the banana as a symbol of wrong focus or something. And to an extent I agree with him, how does the banana make you perform better? (not saying it makes you worse)

Roy Keane the pundit.......is crap. Players who were great footballers have every right to castigate poor player performances. When it comes to criticising other managers, has-been managers who were pretty shite should really shut their traps!

Yes I'm talking to YOU Roy fecking Keane!

I'd take a Roy Keane as a pundit any day than an ex-footballer still mates with the guys he's commenting on or supposed to be objective about.....Step forward Neville, Carragher, Henry, Shearer, etc

A lot of snowflakes on here who seem to fall apart because they don't like to hear the truth.

Keane was always as he is.
He had exceptionally high standards as a player and, to be honest, if he's bitter about Fergie then he has every right to be.

Keane brought Ferguson unbelievable success. In his prime he was worth two players in midfield. There's also no way Man Utd would have made the 1999 CL final without Keane (never mind win it)

And what did Fergie do?
Throw him out of the club for telling the truth about the deadwood that lost 4-1 to Middlesbrough

Fergie was a great manager but he was also a cnut

Bang on!! Applause

I like the posts about him being bitter towards SAF and that's why he always slating us. Despite the fact SAF left nearly four years.

And if he hated SAF that much, he'd be talking Mourinho up, not slagging him off too.

Quite frankly, he holds United to a higher standard than most on here. What with threads about being proud of the team after a defeat and being happy to play six at the back against Chelsea.

After all, he was a big part in bringing those high standards to the club.

He's not 'honest' - he is bi polar so he doesn't even believe what he is saying.

he's already admitted that he was in bad mood and doesn't really believe that is the best XI.

Roy Keane is massively bitter.

This article in the Irish Indo said it perfectly about Roy Keane. He thought he was Mr Manchester United and it hurt him massively when they continued to be successful without him. This is a great read.

Yeah it was all players that had been ruthlessly sold by Fergie so Ince, RVN and probably Stam too. I think I'd have more respect for him if he gave Ferguson his due. I do like that Keane is brutally honest like Neville, Scholes and Giggs which gives an insight into the winning mentality these players had but Keane just goes overboard. That time when he said Nani deserved to get sent off against Real was a joke!

While I don't agree with everything he comes out with, and I do tend to think he could lighten up on occasion, I find his whole attitude and matter of fact approach to be quite refreshing.

He gives HIS honest opinion and will stick to it, no BS or saying what people want to hear. I'd rather a pundit be honest than just ramble on with the basic niceties. The likes of owen, shearer, Hargreaves, mcmanaman, they bore me half to death

Keane is a straight talking no nonsense guy, he played football that way as well and we all loved him for it

It still baffles me that Arsenal fans think Vieira shouldn't have been sent off that day. He was already booked and kicked out at Van Nistelrooy. Didn't make contact but was shown a second yellow. It was totally deserved.

I can't help it, I think he is the best pundit around. I saw him on that sky programme with Henry and Dalglish and he was even hilarious on that. He's honest and he's not a robot, would rather listen to him than anyone else in the country.

He was a hell of a player, and watching him on TV is always entertaining but my God the man's a grade A cnut.

He seems a very bitter, angry, argumentative and unhappy man . I couldn't imagine being around him on a day to day basis for very long at all. Negativity just oozes from him and he always seems to be one wrong word from exploding. Reminds me a lot of my Grandad who I hated being around. Perpetually unhappy and angry with the world and everything within it.

Both of us probably have no love for him but as a pundit don't we need characters like his? He's entertaining and we need that in punditry because we both know how the mass majority are. Boring bastards the lot of them, so I say give us Keanes' cnutness and bitterness any day of the week. At least he's honest and entertaining at the best of times. The likes of Scholes were still saying Rooney was world class on BT last seaosn, who was one of the first pundits to say Rooney was nowhere near the player he first was on tv? Keane. My point is, he isn't blinded by bias either, he's a class pundit. Maybe not 'class' but funny as feck for sure

He says it as it is, many don't like his opinion and see it as bitterness but it is exactly that, his opinion.

He doesn't give a shite whether people like it or not, much like how he played the game.
