His sale wouldn’t have helped us this summer. The enormous flexibility for ffp his sale would bring would have been in last years accounts
I don't know how true that is, but there's an easy work around for that anyway. Make it a 6 month loan with an obligation to buy for this year's accounts.

With Casemiro getting suspended and Eriksen getting injured, it would have left us fecked in the middle.
We were fecked in the middle as soon as he had to step onto the pitch anyway.

The highlight of it all was him being subbed on at 3-0 down at Anfield to shore up the middle, and then us going onto let in another 4.

The bolded part is why we should sell him, we don't need him to be a backup #8.
We’ve lost sabitzer and gained mount. If Fred goes too then we’ll still need bodies. At the wage he’s on with the experience he has, he’s still worth keeping around. I’m not against selling him if the right bid comes along, but I wouldn’t be pushing for it. It’s unrealistic to expect a high turnover of players, especially when most of our squad is on ridiculous wages comparably speaking

Sabitzer was inury cover for Eriksen wasn't he? If Mainoo is also coming up won't that fill the extra spot?

He started ten league games last season and he’s currently fifth choice at best. He shows little ambition by staying here.

I'm very clearly in the minority but I like him

Absolutely shouldn't be a regular like he was under Solskjaer but I think he's a good player to have as a squad member

I like him, but I think he plays a very limited role and seems best when attacking the area. I just don't think he suits a role in deeper midfield, or even box to box per se.

He'll be 27 this year. We need to cash in
I like him too, at small wages , squad player, aerial advantage when defending set pieces. But agree this is the time to cash in, wait a season or two we might not get the same price for him now.

he's always better in a more forward role and we've haven't really been playing him to his strengths. if we're going to keep expecting him to play as a DM we should cut our losses and sell him to fund someone who can do a better job than him.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
He hardly played from January till the end of the season. It made sense to take that offer.
To be fair he was injured for a fair bit of the second half of the season, including a few games he definitely would have started while Casemiro was out.

While I do want him sold, last season he was our only cover for Casemiro so it didn't make sense to sell him then (unless we had used that money to replace him).

Quite agree. I reckon he’d contribute a decent number of goals if he were a regular starting AM at a mid table club.

I have a nasty feeling that his new club will play him in a defensive role though, as that’s where he’s been pigeonholed. If so, he will disappoint.

They’ve got moolah - let’s take at least £30m off them.
Obvious signing considering they just sold Rice. And he must be exciting Moyes with his international displays.
Oh Moyes I'll forgive 13/14 if you do this one!!

If we sell him, who would be our 4 club grown players to register for the champions league??

Rashford
Garnacho
Heaton

And?? Elanga?

To replace Rice? Horrible horrible signing if that’s the case. If they plan to play him as attacking midfielder he’ll be pretty decent. He might even get better.
Moyes' modern day Cahill/Fellaini as an advanced mid has potential

30 million is the absolute max we can afford.

Now that sounds daft when considering we've just sold 100m on Rice however consider we spent something like 180-200 million NET last summer, alot of that will have been done in the knowledge that we were selling Rice for huge sums the following summer.

Secondly, we are at actually pretty close to the FFP limit, the reason why we were so desperate to get a quick turnover in the sale of Rice (2 year payment) is to help ease the threat of FFP problems. I don't think we are about to splurge huge sums of money for that reason. That is also the reason why we are so desperate to get a loan for Zakaria rather than buy him, despite him only being probably 15-18 million pounds.

I think he could do well in a Moyes team, I'm certainly not against him coming but it will have to be for the right price.

Unfortunately the idea we are suddenly minted is just not true. As much as I wish it was.

EDIT- we have Paqueta as an attacking midfielder, probably our one real classy player at West Ham. Scott is not usurping his place like some of you are suggesting. He will play further back.

Definitely think £30m would be accepted.

I’ll drive him there myself for £30m

OK maybe not all the way to Stratford, not with the traffic through London and the congestion charges, but I’ll drive him to High Barnet and he can get the Tube from there quite easily

We could really have done with Newcastle signing him in order to prevent them from “strengthening”.

I think he’d be an upgrade on soucek

We should start at £40m and settle at £30m at the worst.

I think thats the exact position he would end up taking. I still however suspect we will end up with James Ward Prowse and use Flynn Downes as a makeweight. Could probably get JWP for 20-25 +Downes, and I think Moyes would salivate over JWP set piece ability. Plus we'd save 5-10 million, which when quite tight against FFP rules, is actually quite substantial.

Mctominay I'm sure will have suitors though this summer, whilst not top draw he is easily good enough to get in most teams outside the top 6.

I think he'll be grande for them though. He's great when he has space to run to and has a powerful strike. A midtable club will value his goal scoring a lot.

They just sold Rice for stupid money. So lets not sell them McTominay cheap.

I would rather we kept him but if he want to go and West Ham want him they should pay up. When it comes to price let me say that McTominay is not worse than Rice. Not whatsoever. I know that we wouldn't get near £100m because of stupid Rice valuation but he should not go cheap.

Really like McTominay. Really good lad.

He’s dreaming if he thinks he’ll get more game time at Newcastle though.

30 million covers the Amrabat fee. I'll take it any day.
