I thought that was one of the better debuts we've seen post SAF. Recreshing to see a fullback full of energy, light on his feet, capable in final third.

Obviously there must be a catch or the Spurs problems wouldn't have existed.

He was ok, defensively pretty average but great energy levels and decent quality going forward.

He was pretty good and provided good linkup with Rashford. Should be a good cover until Shaw is back and play plenty.

Was good going forward. Conceded the first goal down his side though.

He is not and never will be a full back.
What happened to him at Spurs? I remember he was pretty highly rated when you signed him. Based on today's performance there is definitely a decent player there. Shaw is comfortably better but Reguilon is a good option.

Was alright. Didn't set my pulse racing but I think he'll do what he says on the tin. It's decent emergency cover.

He looked pretty good, although he had a few lapses defensively. Nonetheless give him a few more months here and I'm sure he'll come down to the level we expect. It happens to everyone we bloody sign.

Pleasantly surprised by him, was somehow convinced of his ineptitude but he played quite well. A fullback capable of playing in the opposition third is a bonus to this team.

As we know from him at spurs defending is definitely not his strength. Can understand a little ten Haag playing him and dalot to give some width with the diamond but I can’t understand awb playing when we are up against we mitoma and estupinan (could have) on that side. Weird

When is Shaw back? Having Shaw at CB and Reguilon at LB would help us especially if it means we don't need to see Lindelof pretending to defend.

He wasnt at fault for the first goal which some seem to incorrectly be blaming him for. Yes it was down our left side, but it involved 3 runs and linkup passes from Brighton players. Do you think our leftback is supposed to mark 3 players?

The first ball is into Welbeck and who is in between Casemiro and Eriksen. Welbeck passes the ball back and makes a run further forward. These 2 midfielders dont track back.

Reguilon is marking the right winger and looks over his shoulder and sees Lisandro in position to take care of him so Reguilon makes a run forward to put some pressure on the Brighton player with the ball wide on our left side. At the same time Eriksen starts to come over to the same player. Neither get there in time to put real pressure on and he passes into Welbeck who has made the run in behind the 2 midfielders who didnt go with him earlier. Casemiro is now 3 yards behind him and cant touch him. Welbeck plays the ball onto the right wing where Lisandro has received the winger that Reguilon originally had. He pulls out wide to put some pressure on the cross but the ball goes in, Lindelof and the Brighton player in the middle both make no contact and Welbeck is there to tuck it home with Casemiro watching from behind.

Eriksen and Casemiro were both around Welbeck when he originally received the ball in the middle and they didnt track his run back to deal with the cross. Lisandro came out to the left as he took over the run in behind which is completely normal for a CB to do when there is an overload down the side which is what Brighton did. Reguilon could have sprinted out to the player on the ball faster but the main issue was was our midfielders leaving Welbeck when they were originally around him. Neither tracked him back, he was able to link play in front of Lisandro who was tracking the RW's run and even though Casemiro does catch up to Welbeck after he has already passed the ball onto the right wing, Casemiro again lets his run go behind him and then Welbeck meets the cross to turn it in.

Decent debut all thing considering. He looked very nervous when they showed the teams in the tunnel and I was afraid he is going to bottle it.

Wait, Lisandro and Shaw together at CB?

Was at the match. Best United player on pitch. Showed great energy desire and could have had an assist or two but for our selfish left winger.

Shaw playing CB isn’t going to mean we drop Lindelof. We are not going to play Shaw and Martinez as a CB pairing.

Interesting statement. In what situation could Rashfords selfishness rob him of an "assist"?

People saying a decent debut as a defensive who shipped 3 goals, this is no longer *United*.
There is more nuance than, 3 goals = entire defense is to be blamed. People use defense as a general term because people don't want to type out every name responsible for the goals shipped. That doesn't mean it's the entire defense's fault unless you describe it as the entire side's fault. From an individual standpoint it was a decent debut.

He's very good on his attacking contribution: incisve passing and will score the odd goal at far post. Defensively he's OK. He had (and still has) the potential to become a very solid LB if he improves is nerves when under pressure and being better at calculating the risks of an individual effort.

Spurs fans feeling bitter that he actually played decent and better than they thought he would is cute.

Nice to see someone with some urgency. But looks like he could be a weak link defensively, which doesn't help us at all because we are absolutely dogshit at the back.
