As I've been saying for about a year, no.
He’s had all summer to get his head straight. Not having a go at you just saying he doesn’t look like a top keeper at the moment and indeed should be dropped. Not for the money he’s asking for, providing reports are true (350k you have to be kidding).
I would say the defensive errors in the game against Palace cost us just as much as De Geas weak arm.
I think he might need to be dropped for a little while... let him get his head straight and then ease him back in. Although I think Romero will be GK for us in the cup competitions so that might help.
Just needs a string of solid games and he will be flying again
No.What do you mean? Didn't we already renew his contract in Summer?
If he's already agreed a contract with someone, we should definitely not be playing him. It's not even like he's playing decent.Play Romero or bring in Henderson. To be the best paid keeper in the world, you’d expect them to be at least the best keeper in the league. Dave’s been generally underwhelming since the World Cup. No idea why. He’s certainly not looking like he’s going to earn that contract if he signs. Maybe he’s already agreed to go to PSG or Juve, so his hearts just not in it?
Really? his save % was like 8th or 9th in the league among 20 PL starting GKsHe still made saves no others would last season. Nearly as many as the mistakes he made I'd say.
He's obviously deteriorated. Add to that he's scared to leave his line and sweep up behind our defence, seems to have lost his bottle to come out and claim crosses and his passing has gone to pieces too. Renewing on the supposed wages would be crazy.Anybody that has been watching his performances for the past year and a half, and still thinks that we should still offer him a new contract, is part of the reason why we are a mid-table side right now.
