Did Goldeneye have Denise Richards? If so she shat the whole film up for me with her performance.

I saw Die Another Day on Sky Movies recently, and the sequence where he is using a rocket powered car has such bad special effects

Best bond movie, I've seen. Since I've seen all of bond movies, then this has to be the best.

Don't you guys remember Bond? The guy who never ages, sometimes he's rough and tough (Sean Connery), or suave (Roger Moore), or a bit of both (Pierce Brosnan), comes up against psychopaths like Dr. Evil with a cat or a shark or a leopard, with some sort of crazy fetish. He swims under water for miles in a car, has crazy pens that can explode, cars that can box and fly. He regularly dives from airplanes and is a part of submarine teams and he can sleep with anybody, including undercover enemy agents and normally saves the world/London/Paris etc in the nick of time.

This is a much needed reboot (although technically all the actors are in it), it's got a decent story and brilliant performances. It sets the franchise up for future movies nicely. Some of the criticisms in this thread are bizzare. To each his own I suppose.

No, I liked Roger Moore ( it was a different type of Bond back in those days ) but I've just watched them all again and I prefer both Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton to Craig. He's just not suave or handsome enough . As a Bourne rival, he's excellent, but he's just not the right fit for me personally.
I'm sorry, you found Brosnan and Dalton better than Daniel Craig? You must have your own reasons, but that doesn't sit well with me.

Brosnan is too cheesy in my book, and Dalton isn't a very fair comparison as he had a single movie and it was one of Bond movies I didn't fancy that much.

Dalton played in 2 Bond movies - both were pretty bad though. Brosnan was good in Goldeneye, that movie really brought Bond back. However, it went badly downhill from there. Tomorrow never dies was kind of ok, but what came after was a bit of a joke

I'm afraid I did, not necessarily the acting part, more the look. Personally, I don't think Daniel Craig is handsome enough, and he's blond. I would have preferred to see James Purefoy as Bond. Timothy Dalton was in two films , and played Bond more like the Bond in Fleming's books

I think it is more the women who have an issue with Bond's looks. What'd you think about that black actor as Bond who was mentioned once as well?

I personally like Craig as a Bond, he did 2 good ones, one horrible. I just wish he would be a bit more suave and charming as well, to show this side more often

They mentioned Colin Salmon didn't they? He's very handsome, and suave too.
The plots are so different now to the ones the others were stuck with, that it's a bit unfair to judge them.
I thoroughly enjoyed Casino Royale, and even parts of Quantum - just not as Bond. He's a good actor, but not special enough to play as iconic a part , that's all. I can see why Brosnan and Dalton found charming the ladies so easy, but not Craig.

I haven't read the books, but I'd read in reviews and on the internet that Daniel Craig's Bond was the one that was the closest to Fleming's books! What is it then?

You are right about Dalton's two movies, but I think (in my opinion) Daniel Craig is much more closer to Fleming's Bond than Dalton.

I'd say Daniel Craig is the best Bond, till date.

I think it was Idris Elba. Dalton I thought was horrible as a Bond

I watched it tonight in cinema and I didn't liked it that much. Good action and stuff, but for me Casino Royal was much better than it.

Is this Craig's last Bond? I hope so.

He's signed on for 2 more, but apparently wants to cut that short. I like him as Bond personally.

If that was me, I would rather see PB or TD get out of that car, rather than DC. He's really quite ordinary looking. Nothing special about him at all.
Again, perhaps it's just me. I was going to say, maybe it's because he's blond, but then Robert Redford was gorgeous, and Steve McQueen divine. If you put DC beside those two, no one would notice him

I think they would be hard pushed to get a serious actor in the role again. I think Craig has regretted it from the minute he signed up. I would rule out Hardy and Fassbender to be honest. They are set for bigger things.

Jason Isaac may be an option as he seems to have moved into the realm of TV roles and he has a huge interest and investment in movie production so the Bond gig could give him both the money and the time to continue there.

I thought Craig spoke in glowing terms about the role. I think it still has a lot to offer, as long as you don't let it define you.

On a note to do with Skyfall, what was actually the point of:

Silva / Bardem being disfigured? When he takes out his false teeth you see he's actually been really fecked up by the cyanide, but you never see him that way again, and it had no bearing on the plot whatsoever. So why include it? Was it an homage to the fact that in the early Bonds the villain was always physically disfigured in some way? Or did it have some symbolism that I totally missed?

FWIW I thought Bardem was one of the best Bond villains ever. He was sublime.

I thought that was meant to show Ms betrayal of him further by offering him a get out that failed its purpose

Anyway, the think I liked most in the movie was after young guy gave Bond the radio and the gun and Bond asked him do they have anything else. He said something that they were working in an explosive pencil but they are not using them anymore (it looked like a parody to old Bond movies).

I couldn't stand the hacking, it is becoming boring and more boring. Really, standing in front of a black desktop, and pressing keyboard fast it's all you need for hacking. And then he used a simple keyword which Bond spotted.

Casino Royal for me it is the best ever 007 movie, simply for the fact that it looked most realistic to me and didn't had these much stupidities.

I liked Bardem very much as a villain, definitely one of the best Bond's antagonist. About the next Bond for me Hardy and Fassbender should be in pole position.

Christian Bale would be great too, but I think that he is too big to play a Bond movie. Same as Hugh Jackman.

Ha, one of my mates randomly text me last night asking my opinion on Jason Isaac as the next Bond (if he was into football I'd suspect you were him ), he's a great shout for the role, but imo I think he's just lacking in 'swarve' and his age is against him, he's 49 now.

Tom Hardy & Fassbender are decent shouts, they may well be big stars, but if Bond continues to grow the way it is and generate the cash it does a big star would easily consider the role. But I think it could go to Benedict Cumberbatch eventually, although he has been rumoured to be the next villain, I can see them taking a whole different approach on Bond after Craig is done. Less action hero and back to the charming spy approach.

Seen it last night. Really enjoyed it. As far as Bond films go and what is expected it delivers on all accounts, people looking for something other than action-entertainment with a hint of comedy and drama should look elsewhere.
