One possibility is to treat such players * (removed because of budget issues) as part of the loser pool for the reinforcement rounds, i.e. they can't be nominated for the auction, but will be available later on in the reinforcement pool.

Also, what actually happened with P-Nut and his budget issue? If he wasn't sanctioned...well: He should be. Or, alternatively, Tiger/Marty should not be.

* Unlikely to be more, of course.

Yes, but that shouldn't make a difference: You can't make a bid unless you have the moolah to cover it. Simple as that.

So, there's no difference between the two transgressions - they're exactly the same.

I'll just add him to blocked list.

PNut was temporary excess as even before I woke up someone has already placed a counter bod on his player bringing his budget within limits.

Surely just take keegan out and play on....."it's only a game". Not sure why Del Piero gets chosen (apart from just to f**k us off that is).

It's not like anyone else wanted keegan and so we messed up anyone else's team so just get rid of him and cracking on with the matches...

100% OK. And it's not also like Keegan was Italian or Argentinian BTW.

He was drunk so his bid on Keegan doesn't make sense so I see no issue.

It's a game and there is no reason to f*** any team off. As per rules would you rather lose a DoFI player?

Exactly. In the last auction I got punished 5m for having too many live bids...was irrelevant I didn't win them all

However, this thing began sliding when P-Nut wasn't sanctioned in accordance with said rule. Now it's a rule which may or may not be enforced - and that's no good.

Personally, I think we're a bit too lenient in these matters. If people don't want strict rules, don't operate with 'em in the first place. As it stands now, it happens too often that the rules are simply ignored when it comes down to it, because someone starts crying.

or maybe we should just make the bids that go over the budget invalid and not be accounted. This is a suggestion for future drafts of course. This one is Edgars, so it's his call.

Yes, by all means - a call has been made, let's forget about it and move on.

I just find it annoying in general that seemingly clear (albeit strict) rules have a tendency of being ignored when it comes down to it in these drafts. It's understandable, because as a draft master you don't want a lot of crying and whining - or protracted discussions about this and that.

But it's annoying. Perhaps the lesson is that we shouldn't operate with strict rules - because it seems that people don't really want them. And yet nobody complains too loudly when they're introduced - presumably thinking it won't matter, or that it won't apply to them, I don't know.

No point having a rule if it isn't going to be enforced. Am I right in recalling that the rationale for the rule was that anto deliberately overbid as a means to force other managers' hands?

Then again this isn't a mathematics contest. Do we really need a punishment in place when people have miscounted? Is it not sufficient to rule out whichever bid has put the budget over?

No issue with that. But that was not the rule in this particular draft.

For me, you enforce the existing rules - and then you amend them next time.

But EAP has made a decision on this one - so let's move on. It should be discussed further, though, in the appropriate thread.
