The MMA thread

Wonder if Leon's considering moving up just to get away from all these wrestling monsters, as long as the UFC doesn't just throw him to Khamzat. Maybe he just walks away, hopefully he made some decent money as champ.

Leon hasn’t been present in the ring since losing the title. His heart doesn’t look like it’s in it at all and being so passive makes him a sitting duck so often.

If he’s not going to go out there like he wants it, he’s going to have an undignified end, being fed to up and comers before being unceremoniously dumped.

Let's play a game ?

Name the three worst, most boring fights in MMA history (Doesn't need to be UFC)

I'll start...

1 - Royce Gracie X Ken Shamrock, 1995 - No significant action happened for not even one second.

2 - Kimbo Slice X Dada 5000 - No explanation needed

3 - Israel Adesanya X Yoel Romero, 2020 - This one was a choice between it and Ngannou X Lewis, but I hated Romero's and Izzy's technical decisions that night. The expectation was massive and it was probably the most let down I ever felt.

I don’t have the breadth of knowledge for this, but the ones that come to mind….

Ngannou Lewis for obvious reasons

Till - Wonderboy. I remember being so hyped for that fight. The crowd was hyped. Then nothing actually happened

Also, this perhaps will be easier to some. Most violent, unconfortable to watch/blood fights.

Don Frye X Yoshihiro Takayama

Cain Velasquez X JDS 2

Cain Velasquez X JDS 3

Not so knowledgeable but Murk Hunt has been in some absolute wars. There were times when I couldn't understand how is he, not only on his feet, but throwing massive punches/kicks back.

He didn't look like he wanted it against Belal and got lucky against Usman in the first fight. Only decent performance in almost 5 years is the 2nd Usman fight, and Usman had been on the decline long before then.

Whilst I take your point to a degree due to his lackadaisical style, there’s a difference between being bettered and just looking like you would rather be anywhere but where you are when you’re a prize fighter who goes through arduous camps and has a whole team relying on you for a bigger slice of their own pie.

It must be so frustrating for his camp, too. Guy turns up and is just not there as his opponents take advantage. That guy always screaming at him has had his work cut out for some time!

:o

He’s improved since then surely ?

Absolutely, and Belal is getting old (37 in july), so he could potentially catch him at a good time and beat him. Still can't see him doing him as easy as he did Leon, though.

WW division is looking fun at the top with JDM, Shavkat, Brady, Garry, MVP, etc.

:( I hate bad combat. Terrible punches and an even worse defence of said punches. Looks irresponsible for that Rocha guy to be in the cage. Wasn't even looking at what was coming his way and pawing at thin air like an amateur? Going to hazard a guess that's a wrestler who has transitioned to MMA recently?

Guy's risking his health/life and not trained to do so. =/

Brazilian, so probably BJJ practitioner that wanted to be a fighter. He probably gonna rethink that decision now.

Ah, BJJ, of course. Reminded me of those first UFC’s where the fighters came in knowing what they know and nothing else. Guy looked like he’d never blocked or parried a punch in his life, which makes it dangerous for him to be in there with someone trying to take his head off!

fights starting in 30 minutes.

Who’d you boys fancy for the main event? I was surprised to see Erceg such a dog, I like him in this fight
I always underestimate Moreno, he's such a well rounded fighter with a tonne of top level experience but he's such a smiley guy and physically he's not the most imposing so my internal bias kicks in, Erceg definitely belongs at this level though so it should be a good scrap.

Moreno is the rightful favourite to me, but yeah, maybe the line is too wide.

Specially since, in 3 fights in Mexico city, Moreno is yet to have his hand raised.

Should be a good one.

Rough one for him, seems like he was sent in to be a punching bag for Gautier.

He is literally the worst fighter that have ever step inside the octagon, so he has to be thankful for that honor

Dana literally signed him in the contender series for getting beat up for 3 rounds without getting Ko'd and making him laugh.
