I think we need to do something different for the Draft next time because the last few Drafts have been slow and it's getting worse.

Suggestion:
Exact same rules as the normal Draft with the exception of #2, instead we replace it with:

2. Each Manager has 3 days to send Damien a list of 6 player choices (in order).
3. Once the deadline is over, Damien reveals the votes (spreadsheet) and we then go through in Draft Order each Managers choices. If a player has been picked by a Manager above you in the draft he's removed from your list. If it gets to your turn and you still have players on your list remaining, the highest player on the list is selected.

This would mean the Draft would be over in 3 days (or however many days we decide to set as a deadline). We could even setup a simple google vote form like included here.

Just reduce pick time from 12hrs to, say 3hrs. Problem solved

Manager can leave their choices according to preference (any number of player) with Damien beforehand

That doesn't work due to time zones though as some might be in bed when it's their turn and theyre sleeping.

Does the link work in the above post btw?

Time is too short as, contrary to popular belief, I do sleep.

RedSky's method would be the quickest but like you I think I'd prefer more people sending me their picks in advance. I'm last on the list so it isn't like I can steal any choices. The Barnsley manager was one person who did that - said he wanted x player and if not available then to skip.

Can you try submitting a response in the link above.

That's the results. So when the 3 day deadline is up, the Form will shut. We then release the form link so everyone can see and we sort the results out.

If anyone has entered the form incorrectly, then it's their own fault.
Would need some sort of guarantee to know if each entry is genuine. Maybe also have an option that says 'I skip my pick entirely'. They could also just enter a blank form but for simplicity sake. Can get more opinions and see what people think:
  • whether to stick with things as they are now (and encourage PMing me in advance)
  • whether to lower the pick time
  • whether to go with your survey.
  • other option (and they can enter something)

Pros:
  • Damien won't get tons of PMs from every Manager with advanced picks. (that might be a negative to some trolls.)
  • Draft done in 3 days.
  • Nobody can argue about the results as it's all automated, if you fail to enter the form correctly, it's your own fault.
Negatives:
  • If Damien was a dishonest conman he could check everyones picks and see who's available before putting his in.
  • People could put fake answers in (we might need a password for this).

Yeah. Could have Skip right at the top.

We could get all Managers to send you a PM in SM with their password for the Draft. Then all they need to do is check your Conversation log in SM to double check what it is if they've forgotten. That way you would get a PM from every Manager once, but never again.

The 'password' for members on the caf could be the first part of their email address (bit before the @). People can check their contact info here. As an admin I can see all email addresses anyway and it is unlikely other people in the draft will know yours. People not on the caf for whatever reason can just send me a message on SM with what their 'password' is.

Yeah, that could also work.

Given you can only pick 6 players, it also adds a bit of strategy (we can reduce that down to 4/5 if required). If you go for all the obvious picks you may end up with nothing.

Naah, I'd just go for things that reduce the draft time. Not make it a sheep draft of sorts.

Why limit number of choices to 6? It should be flexible, as you may have most going for the best 6 players

Can be whatever. I just thought 6 because it's less work for the sheet setup and also means you have a little bit of strategy. But we can get rid of the dropboxes and simply have a textbox where the User puts in his list.

It'd be less work in sheet setup to have a simple textbox so all fine by me. Just need to ensure that people are aware that if they miss names off the list they can't moan about it.

I.E. If they forget someone in their list it's their own fault not ours.

You'd have to be pretty dumb if you can't get one of your 6 picks.

What's the rush? So what if it takes 2 weeks to complete?

It’s easier if it’s done quicker as damo has to keep logging into that account as well to do the transfers and if it takes 2 weeks just to complete the draft that could end up being a month of this shit for damo.
No bother for me personally. Though thanks for reminding me to log in to accept.
