Who do you think we will sign on top of Martinez, Eriksen and Malacia from now until the window shuts?

I'm going with...

Rabiot
De Jong
Depay

Edit: Maybe Morata instead of Depay

Until September? You mean the end of the window right?

Have we been linked with Raya?

No, but reports are we're looking for a backup keeper to compete with DDG and there haven't been solid links with anyone. Brentford brought in Strakosha so they have replacement and I believe Raya only has 1 year left on his contract. Seems like a good fit. I'm actually hopeful we can find a progressive keeper who will eventually replace DDG.

edit: Raya has 2 more years left on contract

De Jong, Rabiot, Morata/Icardi (loan), Dest. I think this would be a great window.

Rabiot and that's all. The speed at which we deal with transfers, combined with the fact that we can only work on one deal at a time, and that we seem to exclusively target players with hurdles to negotiate, won't allow us to get much done.

What a difference a poor season can make huh?

People speak like our allure is long gone as a club and will need a long time to build it back up to the point that top class players want to come here. I disagree. We just need a good season to become an attractive proposition to players again.

Last season we got Sancho, Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo through the doors. Why? We were in the Champion's League - simple as.
We're scraping the barrell a bit this summer, and we have to, but desperately need some semi decent short term signings (loans are honestly not a bad idea) to help us challenge for that top 4 spot, because as we've found, it definitely does make all the difference in the market.

One good season (i.e. get into the CL places), and we're in the big leagues again as a top draw for class players.

Doubt we're getting two midfielders. We dont need two unless we're getting rid of one, which I cant see. Based on that, I think we'll get:

Centre Midfielder - Adrien Rabiot
Winger - Cody Gakpo
Striker - Sasa Kalajdzic

Far from what I expected a month back but it gives us options, I suppose.

I'll cry if this happens. Only Rabiot is an improvement on our starting XI.

The club is insane if not going for midfielders and right side options. ETH pushing for Ronnie to stay one more year could make budget sway into goalscoring RW territory.

Smart RB signing on top of Frenkie could make this window somewhat complete.

In cold reality this can descent into Rabiot and simply some available winger thing, while ETH needs much more to start even remotely talking about coherent football system... not to mention having reasonable depth to finally jump out from EL to CL.

Who would be your right side signings?

If Ajax doesn't want Ziyech, he'd be a player that would fit into ETH style immediately for let's say couple of years maybe. His injury record is a bummer though and there's no serious links to other right side options as Antony could be thing for another summer.

RB is even bigger problem. Dest is a potential player only so far and his potential doesn't look top at the moment, just like Max Aarons.

Someone from Mukiele, Dumfries, even Livramento would be okay, but could be high cost especially if Frenkie comes and deplets budget in some way. Pavard few good years ago sounded like perfect option to have, but now looks more like a mixed bag... but still good player.

Well said. As much as we like to downplay it’s significance (the top 4 trophy etc) CL qualifying is a minimum requisite for an elite club. No two ways about it.

Yeah hugely impressed by Pavard in 2018 World Cup topped by that screamer, however didn't look same player in Euros.

Ziyech not at Chelsea?

Still at Chelsea and bit stagnating, but there's two maybe three years ahead of him of good football if his luck finally helps him more than before. This is when Ten Hag could help immensely imo. There's still awesome player there, not to mention decent goalscorer.

Yeah sometimes players just fit into a team better than another, just look at Salah and De Bruyne after spells in Germany & Italy getting career back on track.

Not saying it definitely should be Ziyech, but there's simply not many options left and time is seriously of the essence.

Wish I could say scouts & board will conjure up some surprise talents at the end of the window, but so far the choice is looking more and more claustrophobic. Perhaps we were really just too relaxed in June... I hope not and we have something up the sleeve.

Maybe but we lack depth. Signing these players will help us improve that, as we currently have a lack of options, especially in the forward positions.

You increase depth by relegating poor players to the bench with improved signings. You don't add to the bunch of poor players you have. Fergie always used to say that any signing must be an improvement on the best XI. Or something along those lines.

I really think it’ll be underwhelming

Rabiot and then Morata on loan

There will be a rush for a panic signing or two on deadline day but it won’t materialise

In an ideal world, yes, but if those players are not attainable then what do you do?

ten Hag has repeatedly said he won't buy for the sake of buying. In Gakpo and Kalajdzic, he obviously sees players who could potentially break into the starting XI.

Rabiot, a desperate striker signing and a back up keeper that will never play.

There's only 19 days left. It would be a huge shock if we suddenly sprang into action and covered all the positions we need.

Won't be all but IF we can get a midfield partnership and a forward that's positive, RB looks to remain neglected so expect Dalot to be first choice at least until January.

De Jong
or
Rabiot

There's nothing to suggest that for the remaining 2 weeks we will do bussines we couldn't in 10. And I don't think we will go panic mode after all the 'we only want the right players' preaching.

I don't see us buying two midfielders but Dalot is a huge liability.

Looking at the potential of both Cody Gakpo and Sasa Kalajdzic joining, is an extremely exciting prospect.
Let’s hope the speculation turns into reality!
