I like Pogba and want him to stay but judging by other's posters views on SMS he's basically the same player as Pogba. Would it really be that bad for a transfer to see Pogba go and SMS come in?

Especially if we get £150-200m for Pogba from the cash cows and only have to pay £80m or SMS.

SMS, Sandro and Meunier from the Pogba money would be excellent value.

Why would we sell Pogba?

SMS isnt the same player as Pogba, nobody here is a club scout.

Money shouldnt really come into it, more a case of is Pogba a bad influence and not have the right attitude and would SMS be a better fit that way and better player for the club. From what I have seen he seems so similar to Pogba, with a bit of Matic thrown in style wise but without half the talent of either, also seems a bit languid like Pogba. Still feel Pogba needs another season and we havent found the ideal 3rd central midfielder. Although he is frustrating a lot of the time, we still even with his inconsistency look a much better team with Pogba in it than not. The big thing for me is finding the player to fit with Pogba and Matic, dont see it being SMS myself, think we need either a Neves/Perreira type preferably a real enforcer like a Keane/Gattuso/Rossi type player, no idea who though, Vidal is the only obvious one but I dont want another 30 year old signing there

That’s a fair number. It will be offset with sales and possibly one or two big ones.

But as an outlay I think we’ll see €200m gross spend this summer. And sadly it is needed.

Sad thing is that 200m for one of the world biggest clubs isnt really all that big now is it, which is obscene. Unless signing youngsters, hidden gems or players at the last year of there contracts....what do you get for 200m now, you could even struggle to buy 3 top players?

I do agree with you regarding the offset for sure Fellaini, Carrick wages coming off the bill and any number of Shaw, Blind, Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Herrera, Martial, Mata could be sold...potentially substantially over 100m could be incoming.

I just hope we have an aggresive summer window. Was dissapointed with the three signings we made over the summer last year, Matic is the one who has really proved his worth. If you look at Mourinhos signings in two seasons so far, two have already left in Miki and Ibrahimovic, one in my opinion in Lindelof doesnt look great, three are really talented in Sanchez, Pogba and Bailly but none have justified that talent consistantly and then one can be deemed a success in Lukaku, but personally I dont rate him at all.
Think its a huge summer window for Mourinho....and potentially his last. The gap entertainment wise in the domestic league between us and the likes of City, Liverpool and Spurs is noticable and we are way off from being a Champions League contender. He needs to close the gap on both counts or I think both the fans and players patience could wear thin this time next year.

What's wrong with hidden gems if they have the right profile and quality?

Livetpool got Robertson for £8m. Absolutely fantastic business. Salah for, what was it, £40m? Bargain.

Harry Maguire for £20m would've improved us. Gundogan, a risk yes, but what did they pay? Less than £20m wasn't it? Davinson Sanchez for about £40m.

So that's 5 quality players for £120m. Then let's say £80m left over for a RB and another CM and we'd have a fantastic squad.

Soooo Pogba wants to leave or am I reading too much into that. Basically Jose said he doesnt want Pogba to leave and the club doesnt want to sell. But left the door ajar a little and didnt say Pogba wants to stay

Yeah these quotes don't sound very reassuring.

Those are some worrying quotes for Man Utd fans. Pogba is a generational talent in terms of midfielders and you can‘t just buy the next one because there are only so many and the best players already are at the biggest clubs usually. Martial is certain to leave and now Pogba... Those two were the only shot of competing with the best clubs quality wise in a few years.

Pogba still has a lot to learn and he should really be beyond what we're seeing with him but it would be a travesty to sell him and watch him dominate with PSG. I really hope we don't make the same mistake twice with him.

I don't think the top 3-4 clubs in the Premier League (including United) will have much trouble competing with the European 'elite' in the next few years. Barca, Bayern and Real have slipped a bit.

Rubbish. Martial has had tempered impact this season and it's been our best since SAF retired. Pogba has blown hot and cold.

We don't want them to leave but we have proven we can bring in quality regardless of European status and manager.

Wrong.
Martial can't even get into the team and Pogba is hit and miss.

We dont want Pogba and Martial to leave because we can just bring in more top quality talent regardless of our position and manager. Well at the moment in seems pointless because no talent we have is firing on all cylinders for consistently big parts of the whole season, not even 1 of Mourinho's signings the only player we can give this to categorically is De Gea. So we do the .erry go around again, we sell our talents and bring in new ones with absolutely no guarantee they won't play the exact same way. I mean Pogba coming off of his Juventus term, which you can say what you want about but it was a damn sight better than this one, Martial has scored and assisted around 20 goals this season I think? Which is interesting when you think most people suddenly think he's crap, can't be bothered and generally needs to be rid of cause he apparently doesn't smile or won't do what Mourinho wants him to do. It's because we're playing merry go round with these types of players that we won't reach the top, willing to let them go but begging the likes of Fellaini to stay, the club has fallen far in this regard and anyone suggesting otherwise that players like Fellaini should stay instead, well, i'm convinced they are under a spell.

To be fair, the players who have received most praise this season is the likes of Matic, Lingard and Lukaku, players who work hard for the team. Right now, i feel like Pogba leaving could strenghten us in some way.
I just don't think he fits with the way Mourinho thinks football. I'm not denying he is a massive talent, but he is still very inconsistent, even though he is 25. If he fails one more season his stock would plummet i believe, right now he is still worth 80-100m.

This is all very hypothetical. Real Madrid looking to sign Mbappe from under the nose of PSG. PSG to replace him with Pogba. If this has any credibility, why wouldn't we try to sign Mbappe ourselves, even with Pogba going the other way?

If there is any superstar player I'd like us to sign it would be Mbappe. And he's quite versatile. Could certainly play as a right forward as well as up front.

Why would they replace a striker with a CM? Cavani isn't getting any younger. Think Neymar's more likely to leave than Mbappe.

How would losing one of our best players strengthen us?

I agree that Neymar is more likely to leave. This is super hypothetical. They'd not be replacing him in the football sense, but in the superstar marketing galactico sense. All I'm saying is if there is any chance that Mbappe is on the market we should try our best to make that happen. It's a no-brainer.

Those are quotes that lead me to believe the odds of Pogba being here next season are 50/50 at best.
There is too much smoke around Pogba not happy at OT and Raiola offering him to various clubs for it to be nothing in the rumors.

If he wants to leave so be it, I just hope we are able to get top tier reinforcements from PSG or wherever he ends up.

fecking Raiola, Fergie was right.

He's a fat greedy scumbag. We should stop shopping his clients.

You guys realize that Raiola is doing the bidding of Pogba, he wouldnt do this unless instructed to do so.
He wouldnt offer Pogba to other clubs without his consent. He isnt the only problem here.

Hamsik is still at Napoli because he wants to stay at Napoli. If he wanted to move, Riaola would make it happen.

Exactly. Raiola can and does encourage players to move for money/marketing but he isn't the one that actually decides. I don't get the blame he gets. He's a money grabbing asshole but he's not exactly betraying his clients.

Pogba needs an attitude readjustment. That much is clear.

Players today have far too much wealth and fame it goes to their heads. They forget they are actually in a job and paid well for it.

He will grow out of this fashionista dab dancer gangster thing he is in. Then he will be phenomenal.

I hope he is one of us when he hits that.

No one is bigger than the club.

According to the Mirror, the following is the full quote:

“I can give the guarantee that I don’t want him to leave, that the club doesn’t want to sell him, and I can give you the guarantee that we don’t have any approach from him, his agent or from any club.

“In this moment for me, he’s staying, yes.”

So he stays! This statement seems clear to me.

No way Pogba goes this summer. Would be seen as too big of a step backwards for the club and Mourinho.

Next season however if we bring in a midfielder that outperforms him may be a different matter.

For now, Pogba will stay and see if we/he can improve on this season.

Be realistic. PSG bought Mbappe with 180m euros, there is no reason they'll sell him for any lower price.

With all respect to the talent Mbappe possesses, it would be a suicide deal only to buy his potential at this moment

You assume that Raiola has no influence over his clients. That is simply be false.

There's a reason the great SAF avoided dealing with him and I'm inclined to agree that is probably the optimal long-term move for squad stability, assuming Pogba moves on. If he doesn't and we achieve stability with Raiola clients then I will retract my statement.

Just looking at this thread and seeing other Raiola clients potentially falling out with their clubs is disturbing.

I don't think anyone has accused him of betraying his clients. Not sure what you're disagreeing with. You called him a money-grabbing assholes and that's congruent with what @Ramshock and I wrote.

Of course he has influence, but at the end of the day Pogba is the one making the final decision to tell him he wants to explore other options.. Which is what I think is going on right now.
I believe Pogba and Jose stopped seeing eye to eye around the middle of this season and he is open to leaving.

Was the game vs Liverpool in the first half of the season then?

It's bad as it is with papers making up stories, now we have posters here making up few.

Agents will always explore. They will keep their options open and also see what they will offer to his client, they will use that to better contracts. ManUtd fans should know this after club being used by every Tom Dick and Harry for better contracts elsewhere.

That's my opinion and you are entitled to yours. Good day.

Remember Pogback? He was delighted to be here when he signed back for the club. Why would he be thinking of leaving after just two years? And his best mates Jesse and Lukaku are here. Sometimes things can and will get a little difficult on and off the pitch but you fight together with your teammates, not bugger off at the first sight of trouble
