Ah ok yeah I've noticed that nonsense on here alright.Yes i was taking the piss out of the people who always moan about other teams making immediate transfers when ours take ages. Of course they don't follow city or Liverpool or Chelsea gossip for months on end so don't realise it's the same for every club.
Him and Delaney are useless. I would be all for putting both on the ban list. He's a joke. Maybe people are just craving Sancho news on here.
So the list clearly shows, we cannot sign quality players quick enough..It seems like that because fans like yourself can’t keep your shit together.
These are all the players we have signed post-Fergie -
Fellaini
Mata (January)
Shaw
Herrera
Rojo
Blind (no pre-season)
Di Maria (no pre-season)
Falcao (no pre-season)
Romero
Schweinsteiger
Schneiderlein
Depay
Darmian
Martial (no pre-season)
Ibrahimovic
Mkhitaryan
Pogba (no pre-season)
Bailly
Lukaku
Matic (no pre-season)
Lindelof
Sanchez (January)
Fred
Dalot
Grant
Wan-Bissaka
James
Maguire (No pre-season)
Fernandes (January)
18 of 29 were signed in time to have a pre-season with us, of the other 11, 3 were January signings, 2 were deadline say deals with no saga at all (Martial and Falcao) and Pogba was on holiday post World Cup, and didn’t do pre-season with Juve either. Di Maria had no pre-season but deal spent no more than a week in the news either.
It’s just that one week of pressing refresh seems like a lifetime to many fans!
I thought the line would be pretty standard. If players are signed in time to go on tour with us, what’s the issue? How early do they have to be signed? And the Athletic have an article on everything. That’s what they do, talk too much and over-analyse as they have to write about something. The reality is the vast majority of our deals have been done in a timely matter, the facts prove that.Funny how many of the bigger names who would be (or were atleast intended to be) important players had no pre-season. We dicked around for almost all of January before signing Bruno aswell.
And where are you drawing the line for having a good pre-season? Full tour/carrington practices? There is an Athletic article about United's transfers methods/contract dealings which I found highly interesting, every little change to deals has to be passed through to America for approval etc, the club are fully aware their methods drag things out.
Cheers. Could bulk up I suppose.Yeah he’s a bit rapid, leftie, good on the ball and decent passing range. Bit thin imo, might get bullied in the premier league, but who knows how he’d adapt? Looks decent enough, not sure he’d be worth the touted 65 million, as not seen him play that often.
He's useless in the air so might not be the best fit with Lindelof. He'd be a decent partner for Maguire, though.Cheers. Could bulk up I suppose.
Why do you think you always see the excuse of ‘he’s on holiday’ used? Maybe because the players were on holiday? So the list clearly shows, we cannot sign quality players quick enough..
I always see this excuse of "he is on holiday" used.
Nathan Ake is on holiday, them being on holiday does not stop teams negotiating with other teams. Personal contracts are more or less negotiated well before bids go in. there is no point negotiating a transfer fee when the player will say no, makes the club look weak.
E.g. Maguire contract was agreed before the fee
Chelsea have signed one player (Werner) which was simple because he had a release clause and are dragging out the Havertz deal. They tried yo get Ziyech in January and took too long on that aswell.City and Chelsea both being proactive and decisive early.
Suspect we will sign Sancho ... About a week before the window closes. United love a saga more than a good presesson
Yes, Chelsea have only signed two quality players so far. City are probably going to go out and have a major overhaul, but as you say, only one significant signing is currently arranged.Chelsea have signed one player (Werner) which was simple because he had a release clause and are dragging out the Havertz deal. They tried yo get Ziyech in January and took too long on that aswell.
City have signed a CB from a relegated club with money issues which is an easier deal to make.
Some of you seriously need to open your eyes a bit more. Its obvious a transfer worth nearly £100m is going to take a lot longer (see Havertz and Sancho) than deals worth half that and with release clauses.
Apparently he had. His release clause is £45m = €50m. However, it has an option to increase to an amount close to €75 million. Not much detail how it could increase, I'm guessing it depends on his performance or number of appearances.I thought he had a release clause lower than that?
Never heard of him myself. Anybody know him? I did see a game of Nuno Mendes recently and he looks very good
Isnt that list just depressing. Only 10 of those players I was happy about us signing and only half of them were players I reallly wanted us to sign. There are 9 I really didnt want us to sign.It seems like that because fans like yourself can’t keep your shit together.

"I really don't think we'll be dealing with Roma."
"A lot of money is needed for him; there are no conditions [that would change this]."
We can argue about the first few paragraphs all we like, but IMO deals are done well in advance. I would not be surprised if we spoke to Sancho 6 months ago to get feelers. Why do you think you always see the excuse of ‘he’s on holiday’ used? Maybe because the players were on holiday?
I used it in reference to Pogba only here. People moan that they want all sorts of world record deals negotiated and concluded before the window even opens so that players can have the chance to settle with the team. Pogba, whether agreed or not, and it clearly was long agreed anyway - would not have joined up with the team BECAUSE HE WAS ON HOLIDAY. He wasn’t with the Juventus squad either. He was in Los Angeles, as his team got all the way to the final of the Euros. He was still signed before the season began.
As for the others, half of them were signed after pre-season, but were not the sagas you guys love to complain about. Half the posters on here were still googling who Martial was by the time he was on a plane to Manchester, and Di Maria was done in days.
Surprisingly, there is some level of correlation between the most expensive deals in football and the time taken to complete them. How suprising!

True but in Laporte and Ake they already have two left footed CB. I think they ll sign another CB for sure but not Koulibaly, rather a right footed oneSam Lee weighs in on the repercussions of the Ake transfer regarding Koulibaly:

Basically, City can still pursue him.
We should be in for him, reliable and fits playing out from the back.Cadena SER are reporting that both Bayern Munich and Chelsea have approached Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Key points:
- Barcelona are currently working to renew Ter Stegen's contract
- An agreement will be difficult as Ter Stegen also has offers from other teams (Chelsea, Bayern Munich)
I think this deal woll suit both Barca and Chelsea. Barca can get a young Spanish Keeper and Chelsea can get a reliable Goalie they craved.Cadena SER are reporting that both Bayern Munich and Chelsea have approached Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

No disrespect to Wolves or Paulinho but if they’d received solid info on Jimenez joining United I’m pretty sure that would be the headlineTweet

I went to sign him on FIFA 20 but opted for Maouassa instead. Maouassa is a beast.Excellent on FM 2020. That's all I know about him

Note: the link opens up a videoPeople are pulling hard on Van de Beek and Tagliafico
Van De Beek and Tagliafico are are the two Ajax players clubs are most interested in, but no club has really been concrete about either of them.
You re right. So Koulibaly to City is a certainty imo. They ll have Koulibaly or Otamendi or Gracia as RCB and Laporte or Ake at LCB.Koulibaly is right-footed.
To be fair though, Ake played on the right side recently in Bournemouth with Kelly. So won't matter to him whether it's LCB or RCBYou re right. So Koulibaly to City is a certainty imo. They ll have Koulibaly or Otamendi or Gracia as RCB and Laporte or Ake at LCB.
This is pretty much what I said. I don’t think we are worse than others in the market. We can argue about the first few paragraphs all we like, but IMO deals are done well in advance. I would not be surprised if we spoke to Sancho 6 months ago to get feelers.
Obviously, the bigger the deal the longer it will take. £60m+ is a sizeable investment for clubs to make, you have to get the clauses spot on. They will be trying to get the best deal for their own clubs, which is why it takes so long.
Especially taking a player that a team doesn't really want. I do not expect a Jadon Sancho deal to be done over night, if it is that means someone has messed up.
These deals will be negotiated by two teams, then they will have internal chats on how they feel about it, United being in the stock market, an investment that big will also have to be authorised by higher ups.
Then lawyers will probably get involved to make sure the deal is correct, United will have to show proof of funds etc...
Romano said earlier today City had stopped their pursuit of KouliballyYou re right. So Koulibaly to City is a certainty imo. They ll have Koulibaly or Otamendi or Gracia as RCB and Laporte or Ake at LCB.
They wont sell Ter Stegan and right now they are looking at renewing his contractI think this deal woll suit both Barca and Chelsea. Barca can get a young Spanish Keeper and Chelsea can get a reliable Goalie they craved.
Is it just me or does he look like the spitting image of Ruud Gullit?Tweet
