paywall stops me seeing who the 5 are though the sun in a similar story claim:
[Irrelevant point] and Emerson have both struggled to hit the ground running this season and could be nearing the exit door.

And all four centre-backs - Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori - have shown flaws, a lack of leadership and consistency this term
Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, Emerson Palmieri and [Irrelevant point] according to the Express, who are quoting the Times here. Not sure why they don't list the fifth, though I doubt you'll actually be getting rid of 5 defenders. Though if you trust that Express article then half your squad is open to being sold: Zouma, Christensen, Palmieri, Alonso, Kepa (loan), Kante, Willian, Barkley, Bakayoko, and Batshuayi.

That's got to mean something more than an extension of a loan surely? There would be nothing in it for us otherwise?
He was eligible until and including Wednesday's game anyway, so I don't think this means his loan is extended necessarily.

I thought we had rejected the loan for his eligibility in the europa unless and unless he's going there permanently?
There are a few rumours saying that he’s been signed for €15m and it will be announced after their next game. Good bit of business for us. Him off the wage bill and getting something for our troubles

Would have been happy to give him away if we didn't have to pay any of his wages any more. Getting a fee like that is great.

Yeah getting a fee for him would be great but not going to get my hopes up just yet

I really don't like this... It has to be a 1+1 type of year like Luiz with ways for us to get out of the deal if needed. Tying him up for 3 years would be so stupid.
He would reduce Saka's time and get Lacazette on the bench to have Auba in the middle.

Fantastic bit of business for us if true. It’s a very decent fee (15m euro to be added to our transfer budget), huge piece of wages off the bill.

Yeah I don't get that. Imagine he helps Inter get to the final and then they beat us in the final - and then Inter flogged Sanchez back to us anyway.

We'd look a bit silly.

Didn't he say he would extend at Chelsea if they offered him 3 year deal?

People are saying it was up to and including RO16 so perhaps he will naturally return to us after that last game? I'm not familiar enough with the rules to know if this is a rehash of an already submitted list or an updated one.

Only Arsenal would give a decent contract to a 32 year old winger.

That myth should have died out for good when we signed Morgan and Bastian at basically the exact same time. Weird to see it pushed so regularly still.
It actually comes from *allegedly* woody telling his team to focus on one deal at a time last summer. There was a tweet somewhere I think

I think that would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal. Especially on a free.

Not sure what Arsenal fans would think? But I can't see a downside.

I'd have him as back-up to Rashford.
Agreed.
He can still produce around 10-15 goals per season, which isn't bad for a backup player.

Does Willian not have a reputation for playing out of his skin when its time to get a new contract and then reverting back to mediocrity when he signs it?

So the downside for Arsenal is that they award a fairly lucrative 3 year deal to a 32 year old winger who simply sees this as one last payday and a club to collect money from for quite a long time before retiring.

I don't think so, no. Hed be a good squad option for anyone wanting more depth at worst. Think he'd be a good fit for arsenal given its free of a transfer cost.

He comes across as someone who puts in a lot of effort every time he is on the pitch.
He still has decent speed, good dribbling skills, and is decent with spot-kicks. In short, he makes up for the lack of genuine talent with a lot of running around, which isn't necessarily bad.
He isn't anything extraordinary at 32 years, but I think he will do okay at Arsenal for a couple of years.

Plus the fact that there will invariably be a lot of injuries in the rushed 2020/2021 season, it is imperative that top teams build up a decent backup squad strength.

whats after the 'advanced stage' again?

flight tracking?
it means a contract now exists in written format, and is 95% agreed by both parties.
Now into final phase of compromises, but those are 100% unlikely to wreck the deal.
Basically its done dealio.
