I think it has to be. Yes there are other areas to address too but if you look at the goals City got last year and how many Chelsea will add with Costa, we really can't afford to have another season where outside Rooney and RVP everyone else struggles to get 10 goals
How many strikers do you think will be on the pitch at the same time?

We lacked creativity and a goal threat from other positions. Signing another striker is ridiculous.

In which case goals from other positions (midfield/wings) would be prioritised.

Yep. It's the last thing we need to worry about. There is no way LVG's main priority is another striker.

You need some sleep.

We scored our lowest total in a good few years the same time the league record for number of goals scored in a season was broken. I don't see how that's not an issue. Maybe because it isn't a favourite hobby horse of everyone here like the midfield issue it'll get ignored.

It doesn't work like that. They weren't told "you, don't score this season", you can't simply instruct someone to score. What you look at is a team that who hasn't seen a non-striker score more than six goals for the last two seasons. Expecting goals from other areas is nice it's trickier than telling them to do it.

If buying a striker gets ignored it won't be a bad thing. CM (x2) LB, CB and a winger should all be addressed before a striker is even considered.

The strikers we have was not the reason we didn't score more goals. The way we played was.

One season ago we broke the PL record for the highest number of different goalscorers in a single season.

What formation do you think we will play that warrants a new winger

Of course not, but you can buy players capable of scoring in those positions, which is obviously what we need, not more strikers.

I think that it's more about quality than quantity. Young and Valencia are not good enough.

Yes like a Muller or a Sanchez

Nope! You can't be serious in agreeing that needing a new striker is 'priority'. Not a chance lad!

Who said anything about more? I think we should keep four strikers, I'd just evaluate who those four are. I do think you need three top level strikers in the four. Not two plus others who if you're lucky will end up with a tally of a barely prolific midfielder at the end of the season

Except us there is no team who have 3 strickers who can score +20 goals.

It was only a matter of time before someone tried to start that rumour

No need for a filter, just people to use a modicum of sense when posting from twitter.

Maybe because there are too many strikers and they aren't getting enough game time to score a decent amount?

It completely depends on the formation. Van Gaal will be playing one up top with a number 10 behind. We can assume it will be RvP upfront with one of Rooney/Mata/Kagawa behind. Personally I would get rid of a striker. You then have the flexibility of playing Rooney up top if RvP gets injured, with Mata or Kagawa behind. Not to mention we still have Wilson as well.

So upgrading our 3rd choice striker is the priority, over CM? OK, agree to disagree on that.

I'm happy to have Wellbeck as 3rd choice, esp since we're not in Europe if that means we focus on sorting out CM and defense

Just a bit of banter lads! Maybe he'll laugh when we finally bring Ronaldo home and Redcafe doesn't have a single thread about due to it being 'too ludicrous'

Are you drunk or just really tired? Go to bed.

I'm neither drunk nor tired. I just don't see why it's beyond the wit of man to consider that we can make more than one signing. I just suggested maybe we do need to look at signing a striker. Suddenly that meant we can't sign a CM or I'm tired or drunk?
