Isn't about porn. Just another message of "we own you". It should come as no real surprise, for years western governments have been relentless in revoking as many freedoms as possible. It's common knowledge that facebook/google spies on you, that TVs record you but no one cares. No one stopped using them. So of course they will keep on pushing with it all.
This is what happens when you let them take your guns.

Alright, enough dicking around and ganging up on the Government for this. Clearly they're going to get jack hammered in the press but this sort of thing is badly needed. Porn corrupts the mind and if people watch too much of it then it starts to corrupt affect what they do and say - hard and deep. We need to kneel down, close our eyes and just take the load. It doesn't matter if it sprays back into their own faces, they just have to suck it up as well. It's going to hurt, but it's a pounding that we just need to accept. Probably behind the kitchen counter onl all fours whilst the rest of the family are in the living room watching TV. Vagina.

It says something about our government when they care more about what someone watches/says online than they do about the conditions in which people are living.

Not sure how they're going to get US based sites to comply with this.
My thoughts entirely.
Wouldn't surprise me if they are trying to work out how they can tax it in some way.

It will be a farce just like everything else they do.
Bunch of amateurish idiots.

To be fair the Tories know as much about technology as their most common voting demographic. Wouldn’t surprise me they come up with this comical nonsense.

I don't think many politicians understand what ordinary people get up to on a daily basis.
And this is the core problem with our government, too many out of touch Oxbridge wankers and geriatric old fossils who have no idea how the vast majority of us live our lives making decisions that effect us based on their limited narrow ass life experiences, we need a party of normal people based on common sense and run by decent human beings, followed swiftly by the scrapping and preferably execution of the members of the house of lords.

The Lords have been able to stop the Government doing stupid things on various occasions. Don't knock them so easily.

It would help if politicians actually went out and did a proper job for a few years before they went into politics. See what it's really like going to work every day, paying bills yourself, actually running a small business, dealing with staff, PAYE, VAT etc

See how loading compliance into small business takes so much time away from actually running the business.

You do it for free do you?

I am also an accountant and we make a good living out of dealing with the amount of compliance work the Government has shifted on to business over the years.

How about MTD? Who do you think is going to pay for that?

LEAVE OUR PORN ALONE AND GET ON WITH RUNNING THE COUNTRY, YOU cnuts!

Oh it obviously comes at a cost, but the "red tape" aspect of it all can be handled by someone else is all i was pointing out.

Rti and mtd are balls imo

Porn isn't bad and it can be great in small doses. The problem with porn however, is that the many people who watch it are addicted to it and it leads to unrealistic expectations of sex. Having said that, this isn't really a debate about porn. Its one thing to educate people about the dangers of becoming addicted to pornography. However, its an entirely different debate to limit access to pornography. This is a step in the wrong direction and has the potential to lead the UK onto a very dangerous and slippery path. This is because if a government is going to limit access to particular websites, at what point will other websites be considered "problematic" and at what point will sites be blocked, rather than limited? Who then decides which sites are appropriate and which sites are not? Where does one draw the line between artistic nudity and "problematic" pornography? Worrying times...

It’s a ban on personal freedom. I thought we’d left these sort of conservative policies behind ages ago.

VPNs are so easy these days. Also how can they enforce on sites not hosted in the UK?

Side note, our government seem to want tyrannical control of our lives. The UK needs a written constitution limiting what they can do as in the US.

What the?

Trump is a virtual dictator!
He's still limited in what he can do by a fairly clear written document that is extremely difficult to change. Also at least a fairly impartial supreme court to interpret it and the states can challenge executive orders in the courts. There are at least term limits too so you know he will go eventually.

Not so of the UK parliament and PM. The PM could be in office forever, or death at least. With a big majority and the Parliament act the government can do pretty much anything. Nothing to stop them except the the Monarch. People brush off Tyranny, but they shouldn't, very easy to forget history. Fairly terrifying to be honest.

When the revolutionaries broke away in 1776 they did a really good job of setting the US political system up from scratch and learning from the issues in the UK.

The only thing I slightly prefer in the UK system is that it's harder for the PM to launch nukes . My understanding in the US is that Trump can pretty much just give the order without congress even declaring war. I guess in the cold war that is a pretty effective deterrent but it is also a lot of power invested in one person.

My neighbour got called to school cos her son was looking at fannies on the net, he was about 13 at the time, i guess something has to be done.
Isn't it perfectly normal for both boys and girls to be inquisitive about what naked people look like.

In my days it was so called dirty magazines. Now it is the internet but children have always and will always have the same interest in sex.

It is the parents responsibly to monitor what their children do not the state.

Indeed it is too significant a power available to a single person . Should be changed in a way that only a response to an attack can be authorized by the POTUS. First strikes should be approved by a congressional committee.

My nephew, when he was 9, brought a couple of friends home after school. He phoned up my sister at work to ask for the computer password, because "they needed to look something up for school", and my sister obliged. Based on the search history they left behind, his school taught some very advanced sex-ed to 9-year-olds. There were a couple of fairly innocent search terms, like 'naked girls' and 'boobs', but also a couple of proper specialist ones, like 'big black dick in white pussy' and 'dick in asshole'. So obviously, at least one of the little shits had some experience with porn and knew how to look up the kind of stuff he liked.

I would agree this is a problem but legislation like this is not the solution. Especially when it's going to be as totally unenforceable and problematic from a technical point of view as this is going to be. If anyone thinks their children won't be able to access porn because the government passes a moronic law like this they're going to be in for a big shock.

Educate parents on making sure child safe software is installed on any computer, tablet, phone that their children will have access to. Run public awareness campaigns as happened for seat belts and other things in the past, to change peoples behaviour and make sure parents are aware of how to control access. It is the parents responsibility ultimately.

Screams of politicians just wanting to 'make a mark'. I'm sure that's the reason for a lot of the mad bullshit they come up with.
