So if I wear Nike or Adidas products I need to accept whatever logos they put on the jersey?

Makes perfect sense
You're missing the point of my criticism. I'm saying there are far worse things to be outraged about or stand against for morality than this sponsorship.

So if I can't stop child labour I should just quietly accept having the Tinder logo on the jersey?

Also, it's not a morality issue. I don't think Tinder is immoral, I simply don't want it on the jersey. Just as I wouldn't want the Playboy logo, nor the Holy Cross...

Can't understand why it's surprisingly to some that there are people who wouldn't want this.

It's not surprising, it's just a bit embarrassing really that people are making such a big deal about it. If they are willing to pay literally a world record sponsorship fee for a football club for a sleeve sponsorship then surely that's a good thing? Are you comfortable with the club promoting gambling with a gambling sponsor? And alcohol? Things that can potentially ruin people's lives? Encouraging young people to gamble and drink? Tinder to me is more preferable to these and also less embarrassing tbh.

I know Tinder is a disgusting dirty app which allows people to meet other human beings and breed with them. The thing is though without any breeding there will be no football clubs in 100 years. And the last man alive will cry out 'I'm glad Man Utd didn't accept them as a sponsor, that would've been a bit embarrassing for me, other fans laughing at me and my precious club' before masturbating himself to death with a beer in his hand, while logged into Paddy Power who offer him a £2 free bet every time he deposits £75000 and gives them the deed to his house.

Edit - I hope I'm the last man anyway.

You're changing your tone now. When you say you ' certainly wouldn't put it on your 5 year old' there's a clear moral distinction being made.

I like the way it's phrased below:

I'm amazed by the general consensus around here in a world where advertising of alcohol and Gambling is rife. You go to a stadium and there are constant billboards for companies like Betfred and BetCon, is it okay to advertise gambling to a child then? Even when you watch a game there are constant ads on tv for them. It's a dating app, it's not a terrorist organisation. Like people have also said, Payday loans are plastered over countless clubs.
It's not a double standard. It's this odd need for people to compartmentalize and leads to a rather myopic view of things.

If it were truly a matter of taste, then who gives a damn. Don't get the jersey. If it's so much an eyesore to watch United then perhaps evaluate what the team and game means to you and watch another team or matches from 50 years ago with short shorts and no ads.

Lol, I would be surprised if many use Tinder for breeding.. Well at least not deliberately I would guess.

You've convinced me.. With this logo on our jersey humanity will be saved.

I am not keen on explaining what the logo stands for to my 5 yr old.

But regardless, no much point discussing. I just won't buy the jersey if it happens. I'm sure United will survive fine.

You guys enjoy the logo.

That's fair enough. And of course you're entitled to your thoughts on the logo - I hope I'm not coming off like you shouldn't. I was just picking on that one sticking point for me - which is why tinder has such a bad connotation. A lot of people use it in a good manner. The bad or impropriety is part in parcel of online dating. I guess for me, seeing Mansion (betting) on the jersey is worse for me to explain to youngins than tinder. But that's my values and view on it. I get that others differ

Can't believe this is causing such a stir. It's not like we're putting a stripper club logo on our shirts. Too many people these days want any excuse to indulge in a little righteous anger.

It's a shit sponsor and a tiny amount of money in the grand scheme of things.

If it was the only option and we need the money then I wont complain. But it's not, and we don't.

I'd rather take something closer to centre for £2m less.

Many say "It's not your money so why worry about a transfer fee". Which is fair play. But by that same token for a few bucks less we could probably have XBox, Playstation, Visa, SAP, A.N.Other insurance company, hell I'm sure Chevy would want to put the Ram logo on there for a few million on top of what they currently pay.

The Napoli-Tinder tie-in was a sh1tshow and so is this.

How thpe feck do you explain an insurance company or a kapanese company that ypu wouldnt have a clue what it does withput checking yourself. Just tell him its a company thst pays us a load of money and the have an app - if he even asks.

I swear half of you must be prudes that only shag your wife with the lights off. Its an app for feck sake, stop whining.

From my experience if we hook up with Tinder we will be able to get the best young talent from Europe....the fact that most will turn out to be the same 46 year old bloke who lives with his gran, will be the downside!

As I mentioned in an earlier reply, United and specifically the Glazer regime are far more selective when it comes to shirt sponsorships than you're giving them credit for. Remember, we snubbed a £70m per year offer from a betting company in favour of £56m from AIG back in 2006 largely for the reasons a lot of you are citing here.
Yup, that surprises me that time. 2006, Big worrying debt and Vodafone terminated their sponsorship(?). Glad United and the Glazers opt for a deal with the more "safer" insurance company AIG. A betting company is just doesn't match with the profile of our club.

Anyway, it's high likely United is in talks with other companies too other than Tinder, to get better deal. Doubt Tinder is the only one interested. Just that Tinder's deal is leaked. A social dating app isn't really that bad.. but there are far "better" fitting companies, more matching with our club's persona.

This would have killed about 15 years ago but in the year of our Lord 2017 it just makes you look a tad incompetent given how widely adopted video calling is.

Imagine kids walking around with the Tinder brand on their sleeves
It's not exactly on the sleeve but this is close enough, right?

I don't see what the issue is here, a lot of clubs have gambling and alcohol sponsors on their shirts, why should this be treated any different.

If it was an infant sized shirt the tinder logo might not be on there, Just like many Infant shirts can not have alcohol or gambling sites on there shirts

Who thought a thread about shirt sponsorship would expose the pious, undersexed underbelly of the Caf?

But yourself and many are okay wearing the swoosh symbol being stitched on using child labor in a sweatshop?

Somebody please think of the children...when it's convenient for me to get worked up about
If you are going to get outraged, then try and be informed.

Nike doesn't use child labour. They definitely fell foul of this in the past - in the 1980s they had the view that since they didn't own any factories, then it was not their responsibility. The protests thankfully worked and Nike is now seen as one of the most transparent organizations with regard to fair use of labour. For years all companies kept the list of factories that they worked with secret. Nike was the first to publicly list every factory that is has contracts with.

From what I recall, the minimum age for workers in a footwear factory is 18 and it is 16 for an apparel factory.
