Stranger things is, if this was Trump, nobody would bat an eyelid.

Hopefully when he goes, this stuff becomes the norm again of everybody rejecting someone's abhorrent behaviour

They "forcibly took over the building" after university admin stopped all classes and had security remove students from classrooms.

It's mad how brazenly Fetterman conned his supporters. I can't recall the exact tweet but I remember seeing a tweet from him basically mocking the progressives who backed him all the way. He claims he was never a progressive.

I'm all the way over in Ireland but admired him from afar and even I feel like an idiot, I can only imagine how you'd feel if you volunteered for him.

He is a blatant con artist. There are numerous tweets were he says (paraphrasing): join me in this new progressive movement! or several others identifying himself as such. But yeah, progressive sees a guy that dress in a hoodie, a couple of slogans and can fall for it.

He will be booted out next elections hopefully. But he is enjoying this 4 years

And I am not criticizing him about Israel, plenty of "progressive" democrats are pro Israel no matter what. Is for other comments that I heard him. He is a disgrase

The university admin is doing a kamikaze attack on students and professors, and by definition, sacrificing itself, presumably in order to please donors and politicians

the columbia student radio was covering this, they have all just been kicked out. they saw police, including SWAT and counterterrorism units, entering the building with sledgehammers(?). maybe some students being beaten. after that the audio became unuseable. also entering the building from an extenral ladder.
a few thousand cops in the area. tear gassing inside or outside the building.

it looks like this will be cleared in an hour or so.

Student radio making 2 points:

1. The campus has been closed to outsiders for 2 weeks. Would be a major failure of NYPD and campus security if there were outsiders.
2. Whatever people they have seen arrested on police buses, they can recognise as fellow students.
3. CNN and other news outlets were given a police escort while the student radio was prevented from entering.

e - a surreal aspect of this is that the journalism school building is called the pulitzer.

e - cops just told the student journalists and journalism professors in that building that they'll be arrested if they leave.

It's definitely a mess. Though, nothing particularly new to US univerisites during wartimes. It's good that people care, and are voicing their opinion. That's how free speech works.

But, it doesn't mean that the powers that be will necessarily listen to whatever it is they say. That's how real life works.

It also doesn't given them the right to infringe on other students' rights to their education, and so forth. Similarly, those that believe Israel has a right to exist where it does, can and should feel threatened with statements like "be grateful I'm not murdering zionists".

What I don't get is how yet again this is Biden's fault. Is he in charge of a private institution's building security now?

They're beating up lecturers, not just students...

Just because there are some extremists talking bollocks doesn't justify what they're doing even slightly. Genocide does tend to bring out the extremists as well.
