I can't wait ten-plus years for a league title, Lord Colly.

The man's a full. I'm fed up of him exaggerating how well he thinks he's done, he's lowering his standards then proclaims it's a great achievement to do something nobody should even have to think about

I wonder how many of us on this forum speak a language different from our mother tongue and ask people to dissect it when we are done speaking.
How is he putting a positive spin on October November results were not good, up till then the team was within its targets excluding December where it all went tits up. You all want him to word his statements like an English, no he can't he is from another country and am sure he thinks in Dutch or whatever.
I don't think any sane fan is happy with the way things are but damn, the way his words are being manipulated is bordering on idiocy. You don't have to like someone to understand what they are saying.

I said a while ago that his English doesn't seem to have improved since day one with us, surely he'd have been well advised to brush up on English, so his words can't be misinterpreted or completely misunderstood so easily.

I'm not knocking him for his accent, or the fact he 'thinks in Dutch' btw.

Hmmm... I sort of get it now... His philosophy and all...

If you take out all our losses and draws this season, we're actually doing really well. 8 wins out of 8 and 22 goals scored without conceding. All you have to do is take out all the bad results.

You don't understand, do you? 10 years is what it'll take to lay the foundations. Was Rome built in a day? No.

20 years till our next title. Till then, we build our foundations, by laying a single brick every day.

Is there anything we can do to help get rid of him. Those quotes are just fecking sickening. I can't take it anymore
You could find out where he lives, knock on his door and politely ask him to resign as United boss.

It seems a long shot, but stranger things have worked. Sometimes the most simple plan is the most effective!

Still laughing at Scousers.

Brian Clough and Peter Taylor drove to Dave MacKay's home and Derby never looked back. Maybe if 73,000 fans gathered around LVG's mansion he might decide to move on!

No idea what you're laughing at tbh age has nothing to do with it, he should have improved his English by now end of. It's like saying just because he's 60 odd we'll not expect him to travel to all the away games, or give him every Christmas off.

He's been paid a fortune and is managing the self proclaimed biggest club in the world, asking him to brush on English is hardly asking too much.

Not reading the full thread as there would only be big arguments on some of his statements and interpretations like its the tax laws.

Can someone just tell me the injury news? Anyone else injured and anyone else back?

Life is not black and white as that.. He is never lived in England before his appointment so most of his phrases are not going the be in traditional context. These things don't change over a year or 2. I moved to England in my early 20s, 30 yrs later I still leave my wife baffled with some of the things that come out of my mouth. It ends up taking me time to properly articulate what I actually meant, I laugh it off but she still acts my interpreter.

Listening to that his English seems to have gotten worse. It was actually really difficult to figure out what he was talking about.

The most interesting comment was the one where he mentioned that they added balance to the team this season. I completely disagree with this and think this has been his biggest failure in his time at the club.

What is going to be attacked next? His spelling? His juggling skills? The way he ties his laces?

It's getting very personal and very pathetic now.

I don't like the way he changed from David Bowie into Louis van Gaal:

He wears sandals with socks and don't ride a motorcycle anymore.

I just look at managers like Koeman, Hiddink, Bilic etc, they don't seem to have the same language restrictions LvG does, it seems to me he has learnt a certain framework/level of speaking English and has settled for that rather than expanding it further (I think he did similar with learning German and Spanish), and it is catching him out at times, I'm not knocking him but he shouldn't expect anything different than people misinterpreting him, or just plain not understanding.

I am not trying to say he should or shouldn't do better, just saying at a certain age all that matters is getting you point across and it's down to people to factor in the rest. For people that try to sell us their own intelligence they should be doing better in their understanding of how people from a different background phrase things.

Not read any comments regarding his command of the English language, what he said about taking out the month of December and then analyze the results, is exactly what he meant, there is no communication issues here. His comments about fans having to "prove that they are fans" a few weeks ago was not a communication issue either.

Let us not bend every statement down to a negative. He clearly knows we are in a bad spell and he knows his job is one the line if there is no improvement.
Thank you for injecting some sense into this message board. The amount of senseless negativity here is astonishing and cringeworthy.

He said that you have to convince the players about the game plan before the training session. And than after that training session they have to be convinced about it so they can be commited to it. He also said that this is always the same. (Starting at 7:55)

I find that interesting. If there is frustration among the players about the way they have to play this would be completely impossible. So does he indeed work that way? Are players disagreeing but nodding and saying they agree? Or do they disagree and speak up? Or are they in general behind the game plan? What is going on?

Is there anyone who knows more about this? (I mean really knows instead of seeing this is an invitation to speculate and vent their frustration)

I'm sure the players are clear on what they have to do, its just a style of play they don't enjoy being less attack orientated, with more patience and 'thinking'

I actually believe that most of the posters on here are quite rational. Most of us here believe that the manager has failed with squad that he has built, which is a fact. Most of us believe that he should have done a much better job with the amount of money spent. Most of us do not believe that the "total human" principle is important when it comes to managing Manchester United. The buck stops with van Gaal and he needs to realize that getting a point against Chelsea who are 15th in the league with making two shots on target is not a decent result for Manchester United. When he came first he talked about writing the history together, before the Chelsea game he did not know what to do else to improve. One day he says we have the best fans in the world, on another day he wants us to realize that the times have changed and the fans need to realize it. We have a "Jurgen Flopp" thread here, so "Louis van Flopp" is quite appropriate too.
Yes, but 'Flop' sounds like Klopp.

'Flop' does not sound anything like 'Gaal'
