I'd trade any of our players (DDG, excepted), for a 19 yr old Wayne Rooney.
19 yr old Rooney, in today's market would probably cost about £250M. The funny thing is that that would be exactly the kind of signing which Woodward want to make. World record fee, for the future England captain and future all time goal scorer for MUFC.
Me too mate, fecking beast he was. My all time favorite United player besides Becks.

He was an absolute force of nature at 19 , would totally transform our attack now , could play in so many positions too . Sadly we haven`t got anyone anywhere near that quality now .

I really don't know what is the best thing about this goal;

  1. The fact he has sprinted back 30 yards and nailed an insane goal saving tackle Maldini would be proud of.
  2. The fact the scoreline was 2-2 and his team were on the verge of losing.
  3. The fact he has landed an absolute inch perfect 40 yard diagonal ball across the field as an assist.

Brilliant from Rooney. Cracking shithouse foul from his teammate at the beginning of the counter too behind the refs back, would have been an easy 2v1 if that didn't happen.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Actually think more than 40 yards... it's a hoof (but a well intended hoof).

4. Team all run to the scorer and no-one thinks "what about that guy who just ran his arse off (while we stood there like nobs) then made that pass so we won? Maybe we should run to him too?"
5. Rooney looking calm. "I've won European Cups on penalties... this is a USA league match. Whatevs."
6. After VAR, seeing the goalscorer wears a bra??
7. After VAR, team run to goalscorer AGAIN? You've already congratulated him, how about the other guy this time?! Share the love FFS.
8. Rooney saying "think!" because he realises they need to be careful as so late in injury time. Experience....

Not his biggest fan when here but nice to see tbf. Good effort.

 Well spotted. I didn't even notice that.

Good stuff! Really sums him up as a player the sheer effort he still exerts even if most of the quality has diminished.

Hopefully someday we see a twitter clip of Anderson bombing through a Turkish 3rd division midfield.

Question: Why was the opposition goalkeeper up for the corner with the score at 2-2, don't they only usually come up when their team is losing?

Good hustle on the take away before connecting with the receiver on the long jump ball pass.
Ffs laughed way too hard at this. Never cease to laugh at American soccerisms.

Watch it again, he was the goal scorer too!

You're right .

Takes nothing away from Rooney's contribution though, and arguably the player Rooney dispossessed could still have put it through to the player that was tripped.

Any player who can get caught up by Wayne Rooney, at this stage of his career, after having given him a 50 yard head start, should probably hang it up.

DC are bottom of the table but with a load of games in hand, if they win their games in hand the are well in contention to make the playoffs.

Hit the bar with a delicious chip too, seems to run the show when he plays with lesser players and not running around as much.

That freekick was closer to the middle than the corner..
Delighted for him though.

Have they started to show home teams first now? Or was that always the thing with MLS? Know that basketball and other weird american sports show away teams first, like Toronto Brooms at Cleveland Cowboys or somesuch.

So are DC in with a chance of coming back from the dead with a legendary hustle to win the soccer Super Bowl?

Almost pulled off his favourite too.

It has always astounded me how he is able to ghost in and find space between the lines then burst free off the back of the defensive line. It is bloody Rooney, just get somebody on him! Quality goal and the chip  loves a chip that lad, in his blood innit.

15 years later and he still dreams about chipping the keeper from around the box.

Why is he wearing number 9?

The MLS is such an odd league. PL footballers seem to find it all ludicrously easy. What sort of level does everyone think it would be at in the UK? 2nd division? 3rd?
Less than that. Bear in mind that some argue Bradley Wright-Philips is the greatest MLS player of all time and and he was a good League One player before he left for America.

Some of the players there are non-league level if they were in England.
