Liverpool might be able to beat City but they will get taken apart by Real or Barcelona. My fear is that City could win it so Liverpool to knock City out then get stuffed in the semi. What would you prefer, Liverpool make it 6 or City make it 1?
I'm not sure how I feel about them resting players at the weekend. It'll make things twice as embarrassing if they thrash us, while it won't be half as satisfying if we beat their second team.Like I said, I think I want it close so City rest players at the weekend but I’m genuinely torn. I might be up for dropped points at the weekend if it meant I got to watch Liverpool get dicked on.
I'd prefer a Liverpool win in this round as I'm confident they won't get past Madrid or Barcelona later on however to answer your question I do think I'd prefer a Liverpool competition win over a City one. City are already being spoken about as the best PL side ever, if they win a treble you know the direct comparisons will be made with our 99 achievement, Liverpool could win it this year and so what? They'll still be no where in the league next seasonWhat would you prefer, Liverpool make it 6 or City make it 1?
It's a toughie alright!Yup. I’m with you there.

I'd rather take the chance that City get found out by Real or Barca, than seeing Liverpool in the semi final. From there, anyone can win it.Liverpool might be able to beat City but they will get taken apart by Real or Barcelona. My fear is that City could win it so Liverpool to knock City out then get stuffed in the semi.
Or just hope that Real/Bayern/Barcelona will dick city in the SFIt's like choosing between boiled sh1t and fried sh1t.
I'm leaning towards City purely because I couldn't ever want the scousers to win AND they're already 2 trophies ahead in European Cups/Champions Leagues. That said, there are some vocal, insufferably smug blues in my office but no scousers, so I's enjoy seeing them all deflated. And I'd love for City to never win the Champions League, despite the dirty cash.
In conclusion, 22 injuries and a permanently abandoned tie would do it.
Be more confident if it was Liverpool though.Or just hope that Real/Bayern/Barcelona will dick city in the SF
Wash your mouth out with soap...I'd prefer a Liverpool win in this round as I'm confident they won't get past Madrid or Barcelona later on however to answer your question I do think I'd prefer a Liverpool competition win over a City one. That sounds very like how Liverpool fans were talking before we overhauled them. It is history, nowadays people care for the here and now.Until City have almost as many League Titles and European Cups as us, the answer in City vs. Liverpool should be met with a response of City win 99% of the time. The only exception would be if Liverpool beating City would result in us winning the title or qualifying for Europe.
For me, and I suspect most other United fans, the level of rivalry with City is not comparable to that of Liverpool yet.
It's not the same treble as we won, though. So we can peg them back down with that immediately. Not to mention their glory has and always will come with a small * because of the oil money.I'd prefer a Liverpool win in this round as I'm confident they won't get past Madrid or Barcelona later on however to answer your question I do think I'd prefer a Liverpool competition win over a City one. United still haven't overhauled Liverpool in Europe. Winning the league is small fry compared to winning the CL/EC.That sounds very like how Liverpool fans were talking before we overhauled them. It is history, nowadays people care for the here and now.
True. Good point. I think you’ve eased my conflict. Nice one. I’m going all in on a humiliating defeat for Liverpool!I'm not sure how I feel about them resting players at the weekend. It'll make things twice as embarrassing if they thrash us, while it won't be half as satisfying if we beat their second team.
Everything can happen in a knock out competition. I'd rather remove that small chance completely.I prefer Liverpool to go through because as many are saying they have no chance against Madrid/Barcelona/Bayern but Man City will probably have a better chance of winning the whole competition. The next best option is for Liverpool to win a tight game in the 1st leg so that City have one eye on the 2nd leg in our derby match. They will have to rest players which will give us better chances to win the game. Then they beat Liverpool in the 2nd leg.
The fact we haven't is down to our own fault and some stupid refereeing decisions stopping us in our tracks. We should still be in the competition if not for the manager misjudging how the CL is now played.United still haven't overhauled Liverpool in Europe. I am edging towards watching the Barca/Roma game and just follow the other rabble game on here.I'm pretending that just isn't happening. A lot of posters are risking incriminating tags.

That's what they said in 2005...no way this Liverpool team can win the CL, they are so bad in the league...we were all laughing at Liverpool being 3-0 down at half time to a clearly better team...then you know what happened next.Everything can happen in a knock out competition. I'd rather remove that small chance completely.
Not really sure how relevant that is, the two finals we lost we were outplayed in, and we would have to get extremely lucky to win the CL this year if we beat Sevilla. If anything you've proved what I've said, winning the CL is very difficult and everything needs to go your way.The fact we haven't is down to our own fault and some stupid refereeing decisions stopping us in our tracks. Exactly for this reason for once I would say Liverpool to beat City, pity they can't both get knocked out. Should Liverpool go through they will definitely be no match for Barcelona or RM.Liverpool loss. But definitely not a thrashing as the City hype and confidence will be even greater.
That's just it, I genuinely believe that City could beat any of those on current form, whereas I wouldn't be as sure about Liverpool's chances. It's a real quandary.Or just hope that Real/Bayern/Barcelona will dick city in the SF
Exactly! I'd rather not take my chances.. The Champions League is almost like a mythical beast - you can't bank on anything! That's what they said in 2005...no way this Liverpool team can win the CL, they are so bad in the league...we were all laughing at Liverpool being 3-0 down at half time to a clearly better team...then you know what happened next.
For sure they could, but City winning the CL wouldn't bother me 1% as much as Liverpool winning it would. City are just a plastic team, I don't care! That's just it, I genuinely believe that City could beat any of those on current form, whereas I wouldn't be as sure about Liverpool's chances. It's a real quandary.
I wasn't really talking about the Barca games, more the way we had really good teams and were screwed over against Porto/Bayern/Real and even earlier against the like of Dortmund. All years when we could/should have been capable of winning it all. That's what they said in 2005...no way this Liverpool team can win the CL, they are so bad in the league...we were all laughing at Liverpool being 3-0 down at half time to a clearly better team...then you know what happened next.

I have less hatred for City, I'm not fully sure why. I can appreciate what they're doing right now regardless of the money spent (it's the game now and has been for a while). That sounds very like how Liverpool fans were talking before we overhauled them. It is history, nowadays people care for the here and now.
The fact the media are calling City the greatest PL team of all time, when they have done nothing much shows that. What we achieved is getting more overlooked by the day which rips my heart out.
I would prefer either a narrow Liverpool win tonight or a draw, so City have to rest some players on Saturday, as I don't want them to win the league against us. Then the second leg I am going into a one day abstinence from TV and radio as I do not want either to go through. Can they both not get thrown out for some reason?
Forgotten 2005?Exactly for this reason for once I would say Liverpool to beat City, pity they can't both get knocked out. Should Liverpool go through they will definitely be no match for Barcelona or RM.
