I think the difference between McKenna and Klopp/Jose when they first came to the PL is that they had already won big trophies with smaller clubs so could command respect. Over the past few years our players have been infamous for undermining our managers. Moyes faced an uphill task from the get go due to his pedigree if you listen to Rio's interviews. I am hoping that with the new structure there will be a huge clear-out and new standards will be set which take away any kind of player power that exists. If you read my posts, McKenna is my #1 choice to become our next manager. However, this is the only slight doubt I have about giving him the job.
Moyes came into a dressing room of winners so to an extent they were entitled to think "who are you?".

This lot have won feck all of note and have no right to think "who are you?" about anyone, which is why McKenna is also my preference. If anyone does then try giving it large, they are welcome to feck off to Spurs or Newcastle.

That's totally dependent on the new management. Over the past XI years we have given too much power to players and agents to dictate terms to us in our desperation and by having incompetent people in charge. Someone needs to put a stop to that and lay down the law.

Indeed. And if Ineos have any hope of success, that should be their #1 priority.

I feel that it would be tough to prise away Inzaghi from Inter. He took them to the CL final last season and won the league with them this season. He may want to continue the project at Inter, which is a big club in Italy.
Yeah that’s fair. Inter is a huge club who are on the up. While United have potential to get back up there, I can imagine the better managers and players will want to see the progress they can make under Ineos for a year or two first

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
There seem to be a number of articles/links coming out at the moment, but if anything they actually worry me a bit. They all seem to imply that Ineos actually haven't spoken with anyone yet, including Tuchel who looks the favourite. Were they genuinely hoping to just keep ETH on and sweep it all under the carpet? Or are they just going to sit on their hands until the summer and then take a look? Hopefully the media just aren't aware of what we're up to, but it would be concerning if we're just hoping to try and wait to sort it in the summer.

Most of the signs seem to be leading to Southgate being the preferred candidate for our new chemical overlords. Pretty disheartening if so, things could go toxic pretty quickly for them.

They’re a chemical company. They can deal with toxic.

I'd love to see Mckena managing us (yes it's a fairy tale, but sometimes they can come true). I'd keep Hag for a year, bin him off and get this guy. I am not surprised with what he achieved, he has an extremely big reputation in the coaching world and he did what he did with Ipswich with barely any money. He gets the best out of players, has them disciplined ...

Absolutely no to Southgate and Tuchel, would rather Potter. I dont think he was given a fair chance at Chelsea, as a manager he is exceptional.

I love all the names being bandied about, it's almost laughable.
Looking at this squad, and how they play, anyone coming here is either a sandwich short of picnic or doing it for the compensation when he gets sacked in 12 months time

I think they'll stick with him for now pointing out to our unprecedented injury crisis as a mitigating factor.

Overall I've come to terms about having to ditch him but the names bandied about inspire no confidence at all, for example I can't see how Tuchel is the right choice if we're going for a full on rebuild.

The media had no idea about the steals from City, Newcastle and Southampton: did they ? I seem to think that they were all surprises

Southgate would be Ole 2.0. I think we might be challenging for top 4 but I think that is his ceiling. And we won’t play that well.

Tuchel makes sense the most, but a part of me says feck it, go for someone young but who plays good football (McKenna, Iraola etc), but very young players and essentially do what Arsenal did.

I do not think there is a quick way forward even if we get a top manager like Tuchel.

Totally disagree. I think it would be an incredible challenge and enticement for an ambitious top manager to turn a massive, storied club around and guide it back to past glory. Gonna be hard and trying as fook though. Good luck.

I think I'd gamble on Iraola or McKenna. I'd choose them over other young managers like Amorim, Motta etc as they've PL experience.

ETH didn't and hasn't been able to adapt.

They've shown enough competence I think.

McKenna is probably ahead though. Alternatively gamble on Iraola and they can always go for McKenna later. He's a passionate Man Utd fan so we'll always be attractive to him.

Hiring young managers has worked with Pep, Alonso, Arteta, Inzaghi, Motta, Amorim etc..

McKenna's only 37 but he's been coaching for 15 years now.

Iraola's on his 4th club now and has been a success at 3 of them and has loads of experience as a player under good managers.

Luis Enrique is another good option if he could be tempted away from PSG.

Tuchel has said he won’t talk to anybody until their ECL campaign is finished - so today could be a start.

Not sure we can afford another gamble. We’ve got to get this next appointment right.

They're all gambles.

Mourinho was supposed to be guaranteed success.

I just mean they're gambles as they're younger and less experienced.
To be fair to mourinho, he delivered trophies and then as per, after a reasonably successful season the Glazers rested on their laurels and got him Fred, Lee Grant and Dalot. He then threw his toys out the pram.

I think there Is a risk with any manager, I think Tuchel is the safest option and on paper the best we can get.

The most romantic option would be McKenna coming in and being a successful, but it’s a MASSIVE step up going to United from Ipswich but I’d love for it to work.

Shocking that we are even considering Southgate. That is a sackable offence for whoever threw his name in the hat.

We should either go for proven winners like Tuchel or high potential young managers like McKenna and Iraola.

Saw that rumour that Southgate is not interested and that's our best hope. I actually like how he's done with England NT, recently they've got to semis of WC and EUROS final which hadn't been the case for decades at least but don't think he'd work as club manager.

Tuchel, Amorim, Iraola. There's 3 candidates to consider. Others I'm not sure (though I'm just a football fan and no expert at all so what do I know).

What’s the point of hiring best in class CEO, sporting director and technical director if this is the best ‘shortlist’ they can draw up. For the money we’ve paid to hire these guys, I expect a little creativity and serious thinking on playing style and long term development of the squad - Tuchel and especially Southgate don’t fall into this category. Even Liverpool have done their homework and got Slot, might not work out but I can see what they’re trying to do.

You sold your soul very cheaply. At least should have done for Klopp, Pep or Son Carlo.
