The fact that he walked off and didn't need the stretcher makes me think it's not too serious.
I'd rather bring James Wilson back into the fold than Rooney, and that's saying somethingWould rather Ibra limping around than Rooney.
Mkhi and Rashford are good enough to carry the burden, 10 each. Rashford has been mainly out wide but has looked promising through the middle lately. Our second highest scorer (Mata, 10) is out too and nobody else has double figures:
Mkhitaryan and Rashford 9
Pogba and Martial 7
Lingard and Rooney 5
Dunno. I think that's just Zlatan being a hard bastardThe fact that he walked off and didn't need the stretcher makes me think it's not too serious.
And if Rashford gets injured, or tired (he will if he plays Thu-Sun-Thu-Sun for the rest of the season), will we use Rooney up front? Martial doesn't seem to have any confidence at the moment. We need every single player available.Could it be a blessing in disguise?
Looks shattered to me and Rashford has been brilliant the last few weeks.
They wouldn't though. His finishing is erratic but it's his forward play that gets him those chances. If he's out he'll be missed. A great game on Sunday doesn't mean we can do without our top scorer when our second top scorer is out injured already.I am not sure he will be missed as much as some think-he has not had a good game for a while and if the chances that fell to him in the last 6 games had fallen to Lingard or Martial I think we would have scored more than we did. Also Lingard looked much better up front with Rashford v Chelsea.
The thing i remember about Zouma was the sound of his screams which were clearly audible on the tv. Looked in more pain than Zlatan but again that's probably Zlatan being hard as feckWas Zouma able to walk off the pitch by himself when he had a similar injury, just wondering if that could be any indication of the injuries severity?
Edit:
Nevermind, just found a video of it. He was carried off. Hopefully that could mean that this isn't as serious as Zoumas was.
We've just seen a forward line of Rashford and Lingard work their socks off.And if Rashford gets injured, or tired (he will if he plays Thu-Sun-Thu-Sun for the rest of the season), will we use Rooney up front? I have close to zero faith in Martial at this point. The worst thing is that he doesn't even look arsed. It's a shame to see him being injured in the game, but I'm sure that players like rashford and martial will relish the opportunity to start games.
He's done well for us scoring the goals, but he is wasteful. He needs about 4-5 wasted shots to score one goal. We saw plenty of wasted shots by him today. People will go on about the other players aren't scoring, and that's kinda true.
The main reason why it's true is because the way we play. It's intended for ibra to be the one scoring the goals. Also with players like rashford and martial sat on the bench there not on the pitch to get there game shooting practice in. You can practice shots in training all you like, but when your one on one with the keeper, that shooting practice isn't worth anything if the player isn't confident that he's got the keepers number.
You'd think so but even if he had done his cruciate ligaments he could still have walked off.The fact that he walked off and didn't need the stretcher makes me think it's not too serious.
Having hyperextended my knee playing football I could still walk on it. The problems actually came with it swelling and stiffening up in the days to follow. It then took months of hydrotherapy and physiotherapy to get it back working properly again. Admittedly Zlatan will have better immediate care which will hopefully prevent a lot of damage, so hopefully it won't be that bad, but I wouldn't assume just because he could walk on it that it's not serious. The fact that he walked off and didn't need the stretcher makes me think it's not too serious.
That's the jist of it. An unfit, poor Rooney will get more play time now. There's no other choice with Zlatan and Mata completely out.Mourinho says it "looks negative".
Rooney will have to come back into the fold.
I have no problem with that (actually I really hope we do), but no matter how young they are, the fixture list is pretty brutal. Don't see anything positive in Zlatan's injury, we really need the whole squad. We've just seen a forward line of Rashford and Lingard work their socks off.
Let's give a bit of trust in these lads.
Selective much? What about all Rashford's misses tonight? It's a shame to see him being injured in the game, but I'm sure that players like rashford and martial will relish the opportunity to start games.

I think it's highly unlikely he plays again this season. It looked sickening on the replay. Having said that, Hargreaves said the size of his quads may have 'protected' the knee somewhat but the level of hyperextension suggested a ligament strain as a minimum. It's those constant fecking forced long balls in the box. We use him as a lightning rod for our attacks and the guy broke down in the end.
Any chance the injury's not serious?
Yeah, said the same in the match thread (and it was apparently "insane hyperbole" and "hysterical"). If it's a really bad one I don't see United extending his contract and Zlatan doesn't seem like the type to step down a level. Was good seeing him walk off the pitch though. At his age that could be a career ender. Horrible injury.
That could be just how he looks lolI have close to zero faith in Martial at this point. The worst thing is that he doesn't even look arsed.
Part of me thinks Zlatan hasn't signed a contract as he's found the going hard in England.
Yuk, no thanks! He needs a few weeks off anyway. He can't seem to run anymore. Let's just hope its not more than that.
Enter Rooney.
Indeed. Rashford is a very, very promising talent, but he's 19 years old and has scored 2 Premier League goals in 22 appearances since September. We're in big trouble. He is our top scorer, Mata is also out, and we struggle immensely to score goals, so how can it be a blessing to lose Zlatan when we have 8-9 games to play the next 5 weeks?
