They are just pulling these figures out of their arse though.
Don't think he'll get 250k.

Wanna see him in a United shirt already. Or at least some training pics of him with our lads

Roll on Monday night  I still can't actually imagine seeing him in our kit yet, which just excites me even further. Astonishing to think that the player who scored this goal only last season will be with us:

Unbelieveable technique - and the scary thing is, he's scored a few of those as well :wenger: Off topic, but it really was a fantastic assist from Song.

Edit: The corners/freekicks will most definetly be a bonus. Vidic and Smalling are usually pretty good at attacking them in the box, so I definetly expect them to nod in a few this season.
Notice he didn't kiss the badge. Saving himself, clearly

I can't see us playing with carrick and kagawa in the midfield against everton from the start. We may like this at home though.

Van Persie is magic he wears a magic hat,
And when he saw Old Trafford he said I fancy that,
He didn't sign for Juve or City cos they're s-t!
He signed for Man United cos we're f'n dynamite!!

Finally we have a natural left footer upfront and that's going to be a big bonus this year imo. I can remember only a handful of left footed finishes over last couple of seasons mostly by Giggs and Nani when he played on right and cut inside. It's going to make life a bit more easier for likes of Kagawa, Cleverley,Scholes and Carrick to play our strikers through now.

A lot of top teams play with a triangular midfield. With two sitters and the head of the midfield triangle getting forward.

I would like to see us playing an inverted triangle with one sitter (carrick) and two going forward (rooney and kagawa).

Someting like this:-

carrick

Valencia young

rooney Kagawa

rvp

I see two benefits to this. The main one it being man to man. The opposition will have one attacking midfielder who will be picked up by carrick. Waza and shinji both have plenty of energy. This will help us play a high tempo high pressing style ala barca. It also means we have two players working (when not in possession) to stop the other team dominating posession. Its also puts the emphasis on attack, having 5 very attack minded players in the team, all quick, all comfortable on the ball and all capable of getting goals and making goals.

The only negative I would see is that "the hole" might get congested having 2 players in there. However they are two intelligent players and also having young and tony v touchline hugging would stretch the game and prevent us from (like arsenal) trying to walk the ball in through the middle.

I think this would cause major problems for centre backs and centre midfielder of the opposition. Full back would be reluctant to tuck in as they would be terrorfied of our wingers and overlapping full backs.

Thoughts?

Amidst squeaky bums.
Robin van Persie has completed his medical, agreed personal terms and signed for Manchester United on a four-year contract until June 2016.

The 29 year-old Dutch striker joins the club in time for the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. His talents need no introduction to our fans – he has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”

Robin van Persie said: “It’s an honour to sign for Manchester United. I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game. I can’t wait to get started.”

Evra played all but like 3 games last year, it's not that puzzling Fabio is at the stage were he needs game time.
so we are relying on Evra playing every game this season then?

the fact his form has suffered has had nothing to do with the fact he very rarely gets a rest?

I think Evra would perform consistently at a higher level if we are able to rest him when needed.... our backup at the minute looks like Brady/Blackett/Giggs?

big big gamble - if Evra is out for a couple of months it could cost us the league with little strength in depth in that position

wrong thread for this discussion anyway

Seeing as someone did an MS paint version of Kagawa with Gill before he signed, can someone do one with RVP?

Sky Sports - United Complete Van Persie Move

Sky Sports News said:
Manchester United have completed the £24million signing of star striker Robin van Persie from Arsenal on a four-year deal.

Van Persie travelled to Manchester on Thursday to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical and has now put pen to paper on a contract at Old Trafford to put one of the summer's biggest transfer sagas to rest.

The Holland international, last season's Premier League top scorer with 30 goals, announced shortly after Euro 2012 he would not be extending his contract with the Gunners, which had just 12 months left to run.

United, Manchester City and Juventus were all targeting the 29-year-old but it is Sir Alex Ferguson's side who have won the race for his signature.

Ferguson had said on Thursday he expects Van Persie to make his United debut in their Premier League opener against Everton on Monday evening.

More to follow...
