So I recently started on season 5 - literally the first episode.

This show, for me, is up there with the Soprano's.

Depending on how good the overall ending is, I suspect it could be the best drama in television history.

Once I've finished season 5 (so far) I think I'll watch the Wire and compare.

The best thing in this show is how they changed the protagonist from a good person which we admired to an evil one. I would never believed when I was in first seasons that I would hate him in the end.

Shame Cranston or the show didn't win for it's strongest season. Cranston was on course for winning one for every one of his seasons on the show.

Mad men is fantastic. I must say I've found this series of Breaking Bad to be slightly underwhelming, it's still fantastic but it doesn't have nearly as much humour as the other series have had.

Mad Men is tediously boring though.
Agreed.

Watched up until a few episodes into season 2. It's not as great as its made out to be, in my humble opinion.

It's had a few humerous bits, but I think the show has went past the fun times and is now treading darker waters.

tbh, all 'mainstream' awards(grammys, oscars, emmys) are odd, it's all about whos backing you in them, not your actual quality, though sometimes quality helps a whole lot too. Homeland winning isn't quite a 24/LOST "lolwtf" moment though.....despite the fact it's behind Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and GoT....to be fair to the Emmys, they did probably nominate the correct shows for once.

Just started watching this on Netflix. I have series 1-4 to watch and I'm through about 5 episodes since last night. Great so far if a little slow moving, but I can live with that.

Can't wait to watch the rest.

Ooooooh that is a tough one.

I reckon they are the two best. Dramas, that is. Sunny is up there as well.

Game of Thrones needs another couple of seasons before a fair comparison can be made, for me.

It's not a tough one, GoT is at it's core popcorn TV, albeit extremely good popcorn TV full of sex, gore and other general fith. It doesn't hold a candle to Mad Men or Breaking Bad.

I have yet to watch Game of Thrones, Mad men, or to my eternal shame The Sopranos.

They are my next three projects after Breaking Bad.

If Breaking Bad is United and GOT is City, Mad Men is barely Wigan, in my humble opinion. Premiership football yes. But survival is about the extent of its ambition.

Mind you, I know I'm alone in that appraisal.

The shield is fantastic. Still think the best show of recent years is Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes.

Anyone know when the rest of season 5 of Breaking Bad is going to be on?

Summer 2013.

Yeah I wish I had never seen it either. Felt the same with The Wire once it was done, but although The Wire is probably a better made show there was just some gritty quality that I liked with The Shield. I think it was because the Wire focused on both sides of the fence and showed more of the mayor and other high flyers, whereas The Shield was 90% about the strike team, with some other stuff thrown in.

Loved all of it but I especially liked season 5 with Kavangh.

I also liked the shield more than the wire although i enjoyed both, I always felt the wire took quite a few episodes each season to get into it where the shield was just fantastic from episode 1

I've never seen any of The Shield or The Sopranos. Good times ahead, need something until GoT or BB is back on, thanks for the tip guys. Also is Boardwalk Empire worth seeing?

I wouldn't recommend Boardwalk to anybody. It has a very promising premise but for one reason or another, everyone seems to lose interest by the second season.

The third season of Boardwalk has been great so far, and this is from someone who wasn't much of a fan previously.

The first season is crap but the second season is a big improvement.

Sopranos is class. I'm surprised you haven't watched it yet Vato. I haven't watched The Shield. Might give it a go

I watched Season 1 of the Sopranos and haven't gotten round to the rest. Some things have been ruined for me though but I will get round to watching it like I did with The Wire.
