Will take a little bit to get used to but it looks great mate!
Thanks for your hard work!

edit; What is going to happen with the 'chat' thing that you were looking at implementing in the match day sections?

After an arduous switchover, the site is up and running on XenForo. The Caf has bid farewell to vBulletin after nearly 10 years and I'm very excited about this new platform for the site.

XenForo is a modern, slick forum that will make using the site more enjoyable for everyone. Yes, no doubt there will be some teething problems as everyone gets to grips with the various differences compared to vBulletin, but I'm sure that will pass quickly enough.

A few things to note about the new setup:

  • The Blog, Podcast and Wiki are no more. These sections have stagnated for quite a while and weren't adding any real value to the site. I am going to look into brining the Wiki content back in some format but it's not a priority.
  • Search is currently disabled as we setup a separate search server, there wasn't time before the migration. It should be up and running in the next few days.
  • Private Messages are now called Conversations and behave very much like threads, with each message in the conversation appearing in chronological order. A limitation of the vBulletin import is that the existing conversations aren't threaded, but all future conversations you participate in, will be.
  • For Newbies, the reputation points system now uses 'Likes'. Admins and Moderators will now like specific posts and once you reach 10 likes, you will be promoted. Existing reputation points have been converted to likes, with each positive reputation award equaling 1 like.
  • Profile statuses - this is a feature I disabled in vBulletin but have decided to enable in on XenForo and see how it goes. You can post a status for your profile, much like a Tweet, and people can comment on it. Go to your profile page to see it.
  • Again on avatars - the default XenForo style makes extensive use of avatars, but the no avatar policy hasn't changed on this site. This red themed, redcafe style, has been modified to remove avatars from all templates but I may have missed a few. So if you see a little grey box with a question mark in it, that's a placeholder avatar. Please let me know if you come across one of these so I can remove it.
  • XenForo has a powerful 'Alerts' feature that will inform you when other users quote you, reply to topics you're watching and more. This is definitely one of the best new features.
  • For those select few who had avatars, I'm afraid they are no more, sorry! I may look at allowing certain users to have them in the future, but it's not a priority atm.
  • There are still various tweaks I need to make so the odd feature here and there may appear / disappear :)
If you have any issues or questions about the new site, please post in here or start a conversation with me.

Happy XenForoing! :)
Great, answered my questions before I asked them.

Sorry if this has been asked, but how do you go to last post of a thread from the main page?

In the 'Last Message' column, click on the time since last post (which should be red).

Was just about to answer that, couldn't have said it better!

It's probably worth having a tips page somewhere for little things like this, might help people get up to speed with XenForo quicker. Anyone want to volunteer to do it? :)

So is this designed to only work when logged in?

Okay. I figured it out.:o

I had my own (rather laborious) way of bolding quotations on the old Cafe, which didn't transfer to the new. From now on I'm going to have to do things the same way as everybody else, I guess.

Anyone ever wondered who gave you those Rep points when no name was left? Well now you can see.

Click on who has liked your posts and it shows them.

I only have 1 like. Maybe it didn't remember the ones from my newbie days

I wanna be able to pic smilies and post gifs and videos from my phone but there is no 'advanced' option for me to do this. Also text seems too small. I'm on iPhone. Any help?

Have the editing /text/smilies tool box thing been deleted or something? I'm sure it was in the reply box thing. But it's gone!

Cheers, can't really help you out with it, too much to do but it might be worth looking through this topic and seeing what questions people are asking and collating them into a FAQ question => answer style document.

If you are on an iPhone or iPad they don't work on those devices, but an upcoming update to XenForo will fix that.

Ahh, cheers. By the way, can the speech bubbles next to the forum headings on the main(forums) page be replaced, Niall? That probably makes little sense but it makes sense to me.

Didn't we have 50k users at one point? What happened?

I think I didn't refresh the counters in vBulletin for a long time so that might be the reason.

Or I sneakily took this opportunity to purge a whole bunch of fecktards that I had festered a long hatred for!

Take your pick :)

Yeah something less cartoony would be good. It's very low priority for me though so if you, or someone else, wants to source something better feel free. The main thing is that it needs to have two variants, one for when there are new posts in the forum since your last visit and one for when there hasn't.

Haha cheers :) Also, do you have the CSS class #StackAlerts activated on this theme? Apparently when you get an alert it has a small Ajax popup box on the bottom left of the screen (similar to Facebook).
