So what next?

His 3rd "Last Chance" season in a row took an identical route to the previous two. Some bright games giving a flicker of hope but mostly shadowed by the fitness concerns and injury troubles.

I expected to see some links to various clubs by now but it's been quiet so far. Perhaps there is little interest in a player that can't prove himself fit for 90 minutes let alone more than 3 matches in a row.

Personally, if we signed Thiago, I'd be happy enough to keep him as a backup player. No expectations, no bullshit about what "could be". Just a what you see is what you get 4th or 5th choice midfielder behind Carrick, Thiago, Cleverley, Jones and probably Fletcher too.

I want him to stay, purely as the role of cheerleader and positive morale coach. He's still got alot to offer the team. Not so much on the pitch, but just by being Anderson.

Yeah I agree with most of that, my expectations and need to free up a space would drop.

I think it completely depends on this season, as much of a cliché as that is, I think Moyes is the reason for that. I think SAF will fill him in on his thoughts and most likely help to make any decisions, but I think Moyes joining has given Ando a bit 'more' time now, but with less to prove as you say.

Yeah sadly it just doesn't seem he can keep himself fit, well at least not here. Personally I think he should move on. Hopefully we do sign a midfielder or two in the summer and if so whilst I'd be happy to keep him at the same time I'd rather give his game time to some of the younger players who might actually be able to benefit from it.

He's my favourite player :( although Carrick is becoming my favourite player now I reckon.

You can all blame me for the demise of Anderson, Bebe and Morrison. I've had all 3 names in my username in the past, quite clearly I'm a jinx for usernames. It's safe to say, I'm also far from a genius and my life has turned upside down since getting this username. Actually my life turning upside down has coincided with my username change, I took to gambling and ruined my life. Mods I declare a username change please, it's time to get back on track.

Let him go, being the class clown isn't reason enough to keep him around and he might get his career back on track in a less demanding environment.

I want him to retire from football and get his own food show on telly along with say Gordon Ramsay.

Cookalong Ando, I'd call it. Probably not. Maybe.

I'd take any offer for him. Actually I'd just release him, he's been a huge waste of time and money.
I don't believe in releasing him on a free but apart from that spot on. There used to be a saying at United during most of the 90's and the early 00's under SAF that if you weren't pushing for the first team you had no place at united. Sure we have had the odd signing who didn't during this period but they were quickly fecked off to other teams. We are now more than 4 seasons into his time here and first season apart he has never looked like becoming a permanent first teamer for any consistant period.

I can't believe supports are actually trying to justify keeping him solely on the basis of personality, I have to defer a little to Arruda and agree that its highly likely that most of his failure is the cause of the coaching staff who have chosen to use him in a position that he simply was never suited to playing, however he has always struck me as a player who enjoys being a footballer too much with very little regard for the professional requirements of his job.

He'll be the same next season as he's always been here, a handy option when fit.
When fully fit it's hard to deny he's got a good burst of pace and energy, and that little spell with Cleverley 2 years ago led to all manner of fun.

Can't see him ever being a regular, but you need players like that in the modern squad game.

In terms of turnover of players, it might not be a good idea to let too many go at once, now that we've lost Scholes and will also have Fletcher and Giggs presumably having the numbers of games they play managed. That said, would bringing in a replacement who plays more often than Ando's 'one on, two off' routine really be that harmful?

Surely you're not advocating actually signing a, you know, midfielder?

Blasphemy! Thou shall not want other midfielders than the sickly and the old and the fat, I tell you!

No it definately would not in my opinion. I'd love to see us sell him and bring in 3 CM's minimum it would freshen up a squad that has looked very stale in that area recently.

I want him to go, if we get in a couple of midfielders.

I've given him the benefit of the doubt a few times now because he's a likable character, but it's obvious he's never going to make the necessary step up here. It's time he moved on. And good luck to him.

If we only sign Strootman or a similar player (Fellaini, McCarthy), he should stay.
If we only sign Thiago or a similar player (Marchisio), he can stay, but probably is better to leave.
If we sign Thiago and Strootman (or two similar players to them), he must leave.

In either case, no more bullshit like he will reach potential and become a great player for us, if he stays, he should simply be a back up and the last midfielder in our pecking order.

He needs to move for his own sake. He already has a medal haul that most can only dream of. Its sort of an RVP in reverse. He was a first teamer at United at the age of 19. His performances in 2007-8 from September to around March that season were probably the only time he put in a consistent run.

He needs to try to push on. He has totally stagnated at this stage.

When he's fit, he's a cracking player. The energy he gives and his ability to burst forward and run at defenders is great. I just wish he could get his fitness levels right, and stop getting injured all the time.

In SAF's last home match against Swansea, there was a point in the second half where he was throwing his arms up and really urging the crowd. I love to see that. He seems like a great character as well, always jolly. I love his antics as well towards the opposition GK during our freekicks

I think we need to stop pissing about though. We need to get 2 class midfielders in and let the likes of Anderson go.

Let's sell him, so we can fit even more defenders and wingers into the midfield.

The only way I'd support selling him is if we were bursting at the seams in midfield personnel. We're not.

This has been my year to cross the 'sell him' threshold. It seems to happen at a different rate for every United supporter. I find myself suddenly and completely not bothered about him at all. Maybe that's because with a new manager I feel there may be a vague hope of us actually buying a CM to replace him.

Seel Ando. Lighten our midfield. Good plan.

Keep him unless we sign two CMs. If we sign 2 CMs, retire him and hire him to just travel with the team, keeping spirits up.

I don't think there's any chance of Anderson being consistently good enough or fit enough to be in any way effective for us. I also think a move would be the best thing from his point of view as well, it'd give him a chance to save his career. Having said that, we're so short at the minute that we can't afford to dispense with his meagre contribution. So I think we'll need to keep him unless we sign at least two central midfielders. It's not the ideal situation for either party but we need to be pragmatic.

It's a shame that things have gone this way as he was very talented and is very likeable. He's been a massive failure though.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
I would love it if he stays mainly because he is such a great character but I somehow have given up hope that he will take a turn for the better, get fully fit and stay injury free long enough to really show his potential and if he can't manage that he is no use to us, no matter how funny he is.

I don't "want" him to leave but I wouldn't be bothered if he did.

He's got talent but he's not even close to being consistent enough for this level.

Cant understand those advocating selling him. Unless we get 2 CMs in or 1 absolutely top quality one, no way should we get rid of him.

I think it's best for both parties if he moved on now. I can see him going back home to a Brazilian club for a few million. Such a shame, he was so highly rated when we signed him.
