I don't have any games I want to play on it. I got the PS3 versions.

I'm thinking of donating it to an orphanage or summat but they'd probably laugh at me for being out of date.
Nah they'd be happy with it. I gave my one to my mates kid not so long ago, he plays it all the time.

Yeah, play games with it. It's what it was designed for in the first place.
Not when the best games are being re-released in HD on PS3. Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Ico & Shadow of Colossus. Not much left on PS2 that you won't get on the PS3. Smart greedy buggers those Sony people.

Why is the price difference so big between the 320 and 160gb slim? I've only had a 40gb PS3 and I can't see the logic in buying a 320gb one.

I did the same thing. Gave it to a nephew of mine. Unfortunately his parents have good money and he's a manipulative bastard so he wound up getting a PS3. Personally I think that's a lot of money to spend on a little kid that won't notice any real difference when there's already a PS2 in place.

Depends where you shop, shopto.net have great deals on 320gb ones, £214 including a game if youre lucky to be on the page while it's in stock

Games and videos take up the majority of space on mine. I've a 320GB HDD and I've about 30GB left. It can be filled quite easily.

Are you serious?
For my taste yes. They're redoing so much in HD on PS3. What games are there that you really need a PS2 for? I can only think of Kingdom Hearts really.

I don't find that old PS2 games age as well as some NES games do. I've tried to play some of the old favorites but they're just often clunky.

I can't exactly order it online. If the delivery was available I'd have to pay for that + import taxes.

I don't have any videos stored on the PS3. The music playlist is minimal and only there for FIFA. It's basically just installed games. I don't have any games bought through PSN because the PSN isn't available to me unless stuff is free.

TBF there are loads of PS2 games available on the PS3 as HD remakes/collections/"PlayStation 2 classics", especially if you look at the most well known "big" games (MGS, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, God of War, FF etc).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_downloadable_PlayStation_3_games#PlayStation_2_classics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_remasters_for_PlayStation_consoles

But there are still lots of others available, especially if you like looking for underrated games. Nice and cheap these days too, to build up a nice collection :D

Got myself an LED TV the other day and the picture on the PS3 is absolutely stunning, quite a big leap even from my old 1080p LCD TV.

Sony have closed down Studio Liverpool. Didn't Redlambs know somebody/some people working there? I think I remember seeing it said on here a while back.

So today after playing fifa, i turned off my ps3 as normal, then realised it wasnt off and the green light was blinkIng continously. Screen was blank. So i held the power button, nothing happened, then i held it again for longer, it switched off.
So to check it, i turned it back on, and it turned on fine, no restoration(which it usually does when theres an error in switching off aka the three beeps).

So is everything fine? Haven't llayed anyhing, only checked if it was switching on fine. Will check playing tomorrow. What was it, and is my ps3 alrigt?:nervous:

Also give me precautions and safety measures for my ps3's long life.

Anyone played Sly Cooper? Just saw a video of it but didn't know it had been released yet. It looks pretty good, but I might try and get one or two of the PS2 cheaply first to see what they're like.

My old bird has given up the ghost approaching 6 years of life. Weird thing is, there is no yellow light, just a flashing red one. I think it's time to take it apart again, I think that it can't get the fan to spin.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.

Silly cnut!

You may laugh, but after ripping one apart that had been used as a urinal (seriously) a few years ago, and reseating the heatsink, resoldering a lot of it and cleaning it all down, the fan was the last thing that just wouldn't go. So I sprayed the fecker whilst it was on, and the thing still works to this day

No, they've released it on multiple platforms. I believe it was initially targeted for an exclusive wii release, utilizing the touch pad, but went cross platform and used tweaks to deal with the lack of touch pad on xbox & PS3

Okay, need some help.

I had a PS1 and a PS2, but never had a PS3 (although I've played on both a PS3 and an xbox). Since my country doesn't really have Xbox 360 original game sellers, I'm stuck with the option of buying the PS3 (or not). Here's where I need your help. The 1 and 2 were pretty simple and offline, but the 3 is online, and although I am a geek, I don't understand anything about it whilst reading the threads on here.

Basically, what I understand is, the PS3 has a service center, called the PSN, which is free (can someone clarify). You can then download games on the PSN using an internet card (again, clarification). Can you pause game downloads? Also, can you save games onto the hard disk (read it has a hard disk in it) and thus not use CDs? Do the online codes on games have a time limit or they go on forever once I install a game and run it on online? Also, how fast does my internet connection need to be in order to play online? I have 100kb/s (dogshit I know but it's the fastest one with limitless bandwidth) and need to be sure that I'll be able to play online if I buy a console meant for online gaming.

Thanks for the help guys, you can laugh at my noobishness as well, it's all fun and games. I'd really like a quick answer.

The PS3 is free to play online, and you can buy and download games over PSN as far as i know. I've never actually bought a full game, just expansions packs and downloaded demos.

You basically just download them to the harddrive. Not sure exactly how full games work, but fairly sure you can do the same with them and won't need a cd.

To be honest you don't need to play online with the ps3 unless you are into those sort of multiplayer games. I have basically never played online on mine.

Okay, first line, are the expansion packs free or still Pay to play?

Second line, no question.

Third line, I have a more than capable laptop to play single player games, I'm basically looking for a console using which I can play online with people all over the world, so it's really the only reason.

Thanks for the reply Gordon.

Ordered Puppeteer, should be arriving today. Babysitting one of our nephews this weekend, should make for some fun if the weather is poor.

Basically, you don't need to pay anything to play online and you can download any game you want from a PS Store paying with either pre-paid PSN card that you can buy in physical stores or pretty much any gaming store online or with your own credit card. When you buy a game it's yours forever and you can download, delete and re-download it at any time.

100 kbps might be a problem though. The lowest I've ever had was 1 mbps and it was fine for online gaming, didn't glitch, freeze or anything but I'm not sure how good it's going to be with a 10 times slower connection. You can basically forget about downloading games anyway as it'll take forever as they tend to be big files (5GB+, Uncharted 3 is 38 GB for example), you'll have to buy physical copies anyway. I was going to recommend you PlayStation Plus which is paid service where you get 2-3 free PS3 titles a month with at least one (usually two) big releases and it costs just €49.99 a year which is great value for around 30-40 games but you might find it difficult to download them.

Your laptop doesn't have Uncharted, inFamous, Gran Turismo, Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet, Red Dead Redemption etc. You'll have a good year of gaming with PS3 and console exclusives at least anyway.

Okay, that's a plus, ability to play PS3 exclusive games.

I can currently "obtain" about 3 GB worth of data in 24 hours (got Dark Souls that way) so yeah I see your point. I don't mind buying hard copy disks and not being able to download games but I want to be able to play online without lag and such, is there any way to find out?
