It has been easy for Liverpool, worst 45 minutes we have played under Van Gaal. Besides Ashley Young, David De Gea and maybe Ander Herrera nobody comes out of that first half with much credit.

The passing from the back has been spectacularly poor. Having looked so composed all tour Evans, Jones and Smalling are treating the ball like its covered in spikes. Even their short passing has gone completely to pieces and the second they get someone in their face they panic. In previous games we've seen our defenders willing to step out and take on pressure, today...poor. We can't even begin to build attacks because we're pinned back to our own 18 yard line.

When we have gotten forward everything has broken down. I don't remember anyone making the right decision in a forward area. Even Mata, who can usually be counted on to play the right pass, has been all over the place. Our wing backs are getting so much space and so little of the ball.

Hernandez has had an extremely forgettable half: Missed an easy chance, sluggish the rest of the time, and made some really bad decisions on the ball. If you were thinking of getting rid of him this performance would reinforce all your negative feelings towards him. Shame.

It's a terrible tackle from Jones. However I don't think we've been as bad as some of you are making out. We struggled for the opening 15 mins but looked comfortable there after. Chico had a great chance.

Evans, Chicharito and Fletcher really very poor today. We miss Welbeck badly. We still cant play well when a team presses high up the pitch. In other words, we still need a realiable defender, a midfielder and a winger

Who the feck is that? Don't shout against Ashley Young, you twat. Jones was the only fool on that play when a CB's job is simple: keep moving your feet and NEVER THROW YOURSELF ON THE GROUND.

Do Americans have an attention span of 1 second? They would probably all go home if there wasnt any half time entertainment.

i honestly think our defensive shape was quite good, the only thing that was missing from the attack was persie or welbeck
Indeed. Some fans here write MU off. I think we can still win this game. CMON MU

Herrera has been good on the ball, his tackling's been rash but I really couldn't care less.

He's tried to get Mata and Rooney involved and he's driven at Liverpool a couple of times as well. He's also having to carry Fletcher which only makes it harder.

I hate Warren Barton but he's absolutely right on Fox. His points are basically United are f*cked because of two things:

1. Rodgers knows the back 3 can't hurt him, so he doesn't need to worry about them. And he's right, they can't pass the ball 10 yards.
2. We don't have the pace in behind, so LFC can compress the pitch into about 25 yards. And it's easy to defend like that.

What happened to the Hernandez of 4 years ago, that forced defences to play 10 yards deeper?

I don't think this the game for mata.. Nice touches here and there but all in areas he can't cause any damage..

Good: de gea . Young , mata, rooney , herrera .
I'd replace Rooney with Shaw on that list. Other than a few long balls to the wing, he hasn't offered much. Shaw has looked very good imo. Just needs to start running past players.

Looking over my shoulder.
Smalling was good, Herrera and Young decent, DDG with a nice save. Otherwise, our team was completely rubbish. Fletcher was as bad as I've seen. Jones was terrible and Evans played on a lingering banana peel, ffs.

MUTV are just comical. You have to laugh at their coverage it is filled with schoolboy errors and faux pas. 10/10 entertainment.

I'm inclined to agree with you mate, I'm also disappointed how a little pressing from the opposition seems to have given us the jitters. Especially as Liverpool don't really seem to be that good at all. they have really just benefited from our mistakes.

Strange tactics from them really, very conservative in my eyes.
Yep, they've pressed us high up the pitch and our CB's and midfielders have looked shaky. Think Liverpool have looked good and I don't think they'll drop off as much as many United fans on here are predicting.

Ha, looking at the half time clips, DDG looks more comfortable on the ball under pressure then a couple of our outfield players!

Except a stupid Jones challenge where he got bit of the ball, it's been a even game tbf.

Sterling is the one causing us problems. Someone needs to bully him physically.

How many times has Shaw overlapped in the first half and been constantly ignored?

Those ways down the line are really long for the wingbacks and if they do make them, we can't be so careless with the ball and get that easily disposessed. We look a bit rusty and lack concentration today, probably due to the tight schedule between the games. Hope Louis finds the right words and we start to concentrate more in the second half.

I don't see the point of playing 3-5-2 tbh. We don't have many first choice centre backs, we have two top class full backs in Shaw and Rafael. We have one superb winger in Januzaj and we have many top no. 10's. We should just sign another winger and mabe two central midfielders to play in a 4-3-3.
Its so our 3 best players can play in their best positions, and januzaj isn't superb. He's a very promising youngster but that's it so far, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Our best winger despite only turning 19 says it all about our options out wide. The defenders aren't good enough to form a partnership so far either, a back 3 adds defensive cover which is needed.

Keep Rodgers at Pool.
Waiting for 3 or 4 more Liverpool players to think they're fouled so they can grab the ball from the pitch with their hands without being reprimanded.

Obviously easy to say because we're losing and not particularly creating much in the final third, but we just don't look the same outfit without Welbz.

The man must be sleep-walking - three 90 minute games in less than 10 days in pre-season! His first in three years at that. He needs to rest.
herrera looks a bit like he needs time to get used to the tempo in epl.

Herrera has been great - Fletch has been crap though and so we're overrun.
Many think the 3 at the back will compensate for 2 in midfield , that has not happened first half.

The other problem is? The defenders at the back apart from maybe smalling, are not footballing CB's, so they are getting caught in possession, we defiantly need another defender at times when you see the way jones dives in carelessly . We just need depth badly

It is a problem playing young has a wingback , and he does leave a huge gap which led to the penalty, so that defenders instinct for a wingback is not quiet there
