Dear all managers in The RedCafe League,

It is time for change. Since the league began in 2012, a select few clubs hoarded numerous players and it was to the detriment of the league.

In our heyday, we had the top three divisions full. Now? Just 32. This is a fantastic league, but it needs to be accessible to more, and driving people away in the manner that has been done so far isn’t going to do any good.

Manchester United are finished buying players for the foreseeable future and all at the club will now put our efforts towards trimming down the squad. We have a lot of quality players, and it just is not right that a lot of players are being kept to a select few teams, when they could be doing good elsewhere and played on a regular basis.

However, this is not a process that can be done overnight. On behalf of the club, I can say that we will be selling up to 10 players each season until we reach the target squad size of 50. Players that will be sold in the first wave include the likes of Luc Castaignos, Quincy Promes and Wilfried Zaha. AFC Bournemouth, Derby County and Oxford United have first dibs on these players and can lodge a bid right now if they wish. If they’re not interested, we will then open it up to the Division 2 teams to bid, and finally Division 1.

If we all pull together in this manner, we can create a better league. A more enjoyable league - especially for those in the current lower Divisions.

Yours sincerely,

Damien

Look at that letter. Would City or PSG do a letter as wonderful as that? I rest my case.

Doesn't have to be all in one season, just that once this season is over you can't sign anymore players until you're below 45.
Yeah but Risking a transfer ban isnt something i Want. Never know who might be available.

Aye, or say for those over the limit, to sell up to 10 players each season to get towards reaching the limit.

For the players I'm selling, the likes of Oxford, Plymouth and Ipswich will have first dibs if they wish.
:D

I need to sell first though before buying and that can't happen till Oct 17.

Aye, I'll be waiting till around November to start selling as I know you'll all be a bit hard up on funds now so likely need to sell first.
Ya, I don't have much money at the moment. I am making losses on away day currently so it is not very bright. I will sell around 10 players minimum when TB lifts but they all are worth of going down to league 3 or being released. So, I won't make much money from transfer but it will cut down costs somewhat.

Manchester United make their final signing

Manchester United are delighted to confirm the signing of Jose Luis Gaya from Valencia on a two-season contract. This signing will be the last one that Manchester United will make for the foreseeable future.

"Left back is a problem position for us," said Damien, "sure, we've got Rodriguez, Shaw, Digne, Davies and Guerreiro, but you have to ask: is five enough? Now, we're content with our leftback situation and will be looking to offload players in other positions that aren't needed in accordance with the squad limits that will be coming into effect.

We should give them a small window to trim their squads, forces them to sell cheap rather than hold on for more rises.

No one is being forced to sell. We could all keep hold of our players if we wished, but by doing that we'd be preventing ourselves from signing anyone else until we complied with the rules. That's fair.

Sounds fair enough.

It's also worth mentioning. That loans will count towards your squad number. So if you exceed the squad limit with players loaned in, then you will be transfer banned. Agreed?

I.E.

If you have 48 players and loan in 3 and your squad limit is 50, your club will be transfer banned.

It's probably a wise idea for the smaller clubs to start saving some cash because come December, you might have some nice Christmas shopping!

Long-ish post, but was wondering if any of the egg-heads in here could do the once over of my squad in another league. Currently bleeding ~500k a game. Luc Castaignos completes move to West Brom

West Bromwich Albion are delighted to announce the signing of the highly rated youngster from Manchester United in a deal reportedly worth around the 3.8 million mark. After being frozen out at Old Trafford the player has decided he would be better off plying his trade in the second division. The West Brom manager was quoted to have said, 'I am privileged to welcome Luc to the club, I feel certain he can help the first team straight away and grow as the teams ambitions increase. As west Brom are one of the only teams with nearly half their squad limit under FFP it is likely that we will see them move again in the transfer window soon.

Is Fabinho available from Monaco? If so i'd buy him as a RB option. I'd probably sell, Azeez, Nampalys Mendy, Balanta and Murru. Then see what the wage bill is like after those 4 departures.

No, another team snapped him up. I just bought Azeez

Have accepted bids from City and Schalke for Matip and Mangala for ~26m. Getting in Rojo and trading Balanta + cash for Johannes Geis (who also offers cover at RB) to net me 16m. Not bad I think.

Will sell off Murru once his TB expires

No one has Geis? What the buttocks? Is Knoche taken?

Azeez isn't a bad player at all btw, he will probably rise to 86/87 this season. It's just you can't really afford to have him around. :)

Quick question regarding the squad limits. Are we basing it on the attendance of teams or the capacity?

My capacity is in the low 40k's but my attendance is generally low 30k's so I'm not really remaining competitive against the bigger teams who fill the stadium most weeks.

I know it's very early in the season but me, Sunderland, Newcastle & Everton are a good 5-6 thousand under capacity. Mine never seems to improve and is currently probably 3-4k better then what it usually is.
