I always end up watching Corrales v Castillo after Mayweather fights just to cleanse myself.

Lol at UFC taking over. Boxing will always be streets above it.

Anyway, Mayweather is the greatest fighter we'll most likely ever see.

He'd get knocked out and would it really fly as PPV? Feck, it's 6am and I'm not that sleepy:(
He wouldn't get knocked out

And, aye of course it would fly as a PVV. Mayweather could fight me and it would be a PPV.

Look at the numbers, UFC is getting bigger and bigger every year. Mayweather has what 1-2 fights in him? this could possibly be one of the last mega fights for some time, there's nobody to carry boxing into the next generation, there's a complete lack of stars in the sport.

Yeah, that guy with the stupid tattoo on his face sitting ringside is a bum.
No, but he wasn't a complete fighter, and got shown up for it eventually. I hate Floyd, and his style is part of the reason boxing is dying - that doesn't mean he isn't a great fighter.

If I had to watch Manny or Floyd, Manny every day. If I had to bet on one to win, sadly, Floyd every day.

My alarm didn't set properly

I am glad it didn't now! So it turned out like predicted and United lost yesterday. The sport Gods do not favour me this weekend at all!

At least I didn't disturb my sleep pattern for it.

@Castia

Froch vs Groves sold out 80000 at Wembley. This has been one of the biggest sporting events of all time. But you think that boxing is dying as a sport?

If anything it is in the best shape it has been for years, regardless of how boring Mayweather is as a boxer.

@Rolandofgilead

Unfortunately Andre Ward is as boring out of the ring as he is in it. I doubt that he will be the next superstar despite how good a boxer he is.

Isn't that just a few points for every judge?
Well, 118 means that Mayweather got the maximum of 10 points in all but 2 rounds. It is as good as it can be. On 116-112, it looks that those two judges gave 8 rounds for Mayweather and 4 for Pacquiao which I think is a very just decision.

Pacquiao didn't went down to get less than 9 points for a round.

I personally think it definitely wasnt as far as the score cards made it.

Hell id even go as far as saying it was a tie. 118 - 110? What fight were you watching son?

First 6 rounds, give or take were Pacmans, the rest were split between them and mostly were Floyds running around like a bitch a picking punches.

Might do. Floyd gave Manny a shot to the chin tonight iirc that would've probably killed Khan.
Maidana didn't knock Khan out (and he hit him with some rockets), so I can't see Floyd knocking him out.

It would seem that someone with Paqs speed but with an advantage on reach would give Mayweather problems....dont most think Castillo beat him? I missed that fight.
Everybody thought Castillo won. The commentary team was pretty surprised too.

I gave Manny 2 rounds, 3 at most.

I think Khan would trouble Mayweather more than Pacquiao did. Styles make fights!
I gave him 3 outright, 3rd, 4th and 6th I think because he got through some. From 7 onwards it was all Mayweather and just a matter of judging him doing enough to split some rounds.

Disagree, but hopefully we will see as I imagine he'll fight Khan either next or as his 50-0.

The weakness of Khan's chin is overstated, Maidana and Peterson hit him with absolute bombs and he was fine. Khan's issue was his appalling defensive boxing which isn't the same as having a weak chin.

Technical Difficulties...
Most exciting bits of the fight tonight came from Manny no doubt and possibly the most rocking shots too. Don't think I'll bother watching Mayweather again unless its against Brook or Khan, every time he's a bore fest. So glad I didn't stay up for it and got some sleep in. Those who stayed up all night and paid for it must feel like they just got mugged at the cash machine after an all nighter, stuff that!

That's what people said when Tyson/Lewis heavyweight era passed. It's what people said when Oscar De La Hoya left the sport and especially after that Mayweather fight everyone said boxing would not get a bigger fight. Here we are, just a few years down the road for the biggest fight ever.

I'd say a close fight is a split decision. This was unanimous with one judge having Mayweather winning 10 out of 12 rounds (sky commentators in agreement) and the other two being a bit more generous to Pacquiao and giving him 4 of the 12 rounds.

And what about the low punches / elbows that Floyd threw?

I fecking always disliked Bayliss as a ref, deduct points already!

Think the Mayweather/Chelsea comparison are unfair, it kind of underplays Mayweather's brilliant technique and intelligence. If anything he's like a vintage Italian side.

People were paying that money for the occasion, not the actual fight. Pac was always going to need to be in special form to stop Mayweather shutting him (and the fight) down.

Is this guy actually better than Mohammed Ali? Was Ali a wimp or did he actually come out to play?

Khan can't fight in September. Not really sure who he'll fight.
I would love to see Floyd Mayweather - Gennday Golovkin. He is probably too big and too good for Mayweather to want a fight with him though.

I'm not sure about that mate, huge risk and what's the most Floyd has ever weighed for a fight? It was 151 for the Cotto fight I believe. He couldn't even get to the light middleweight limit let alone Middleweight.

If someone watches a football game for the first time and it's Chelsea or some another team parking the bus probably will think that is a boring sport. You can explain him that was a masterclass, brilliant at profesional level, etc .Today they had a chance to get many fans for the sport and I think they got the opposite. If they reward that defensive style I guess that the rest of boxers will copy and adapt to it even more

It was a pretty good fight for boxing fans, Floyd's technical skills are just brilliant. As is his conditioning, felt nothing when Manny went to his body.
