Giroud must be trying figure out whats happening there.

Fantastic technique!
I know he screwed up in the build up there but it takes some guts to put your head in between the boot of a striker and the ball. I think he did well with that little header at the end to stop Giroud from reaching it. It looks funny as feck but still an amazing effort defense wise:
Reminds me of this a little bit:

Do you have the gif of Phil Jones totally KO'ing himself last season challenging for a ball from a corner in the opposition box?
Was this when he literally tried to run through a defender to get to the ball at a corner (like you said) and there were fears he'd end up missing the world cup? Believe it was vs. Hull at the end of the season.@GifLord

Obviously it was both one of the most brilliant and one of the most ridiculous moments of defending some on here have ever witnessedthis is going to become one of these moments that people kind of ignore whats actually happened because its funnier to play along with the lazy narrative. If this was vidic the context of the green smileys would be very different. saw them accompanied by comments like "clumsy oaf" and "duncan edwards II" earlier. hes made a huge feck up just prior to this, but recovered brilliantly albeit looking humorous while doing it.
shouldnt be used as an example of jones the "horrible clumsy defender strikes again".
