Shame about the injury but I'm glad it means he is staying. Can't think of any other backup striker I would prefer to have as on option on the bench than him

Not sure how this is a bad thing? I'm sure there's interest in him in a lot of leagues. He's wanted in MLS and Mexico, and I'm sure there's plenty of european teams that would take him. Just don't pay him silly wages because then we might be stuck with him.
Well that's what I mean, I highly doubt he'd resign with us unless he was getting an incentive now.

A broken collarbone doesn't hinder a medical, he can still be transferred.

Orlando link I find strange. He's around his peak, did reasonably well for Real Madrid last year and he'd be supposed to move to the US and basically finish his fully professional career at 28? Don't think so.

Well, they want him for the latino connection but we don't know if Hernandez is ready to go to MLS yet.

Monaco are the latest to be linked with a loan for Hernandez.

Really? A loan basically finishes off his United career in the same style as Cleverley. He'll leave on a free next summer so think we'd prefer to send him somewhere permanently.

I love Chicharito but there is no point loaning him if we lose him for a free. Either get a fee or keep him

It will be a similar loan to the one they did with Falcao.

Surprised a club like atletico aren't in for him. He basically guarantees goals against any sort of defence, would be a valuable asset to any sort of team.

No disrespect to MLS but he's too good for that league atm. He can still play for some top teams in the top european leagues and score tons of goals.

Im surprised Sevilla aren't in for him. They have the money and they need a striker like him to replace Bacca. Atletico have Martinez, Griezmann and Vietto so i can understand them not being interested.

Sevilla have a reliable off the bench goalscorer in Gameiro, I would think they'll look for an all-arounder to replace Bacca.

Anyone thinks he'll be a bench player/Rooney's back-up next season?
For all the talk that he's not an LvG type player, if the right striker isn't available, it would be best to keep him for another year, or at a minimum until the winter break. We need depth at striker, even if the bench players rarely play, we still need the insurance policy in case Wayne gets injured.

I hope so i am probably one of the few who doesn't want a striker to come in this season and just stick with Rooney, Hernandez and Wilson (as long as we are playing one striker up front). I really don't want Rooney playing anywhere else on the pitch only the #9. Next season we should get a world class striker to take over from Rooney up top.

Agree completely. He's been squandered elsewhere, which probably played into LvG's logic of getting rid of Falcao and RvP. Wayne has to play at striker.

Does Ed vacation at Turkey often? Why are they often interested in our rejects?

I don't get it why we want to get rid of him.

We need strikers. If we sign a big name for the number 9 kit, we still need back-ups. Why not give him another chance? He did well for us. He knows the club. He knows the league. If we let him go I am really interested about Van Gaal's plans. Who will come? Is he really convinced that Chicarito is not good enough for Man Utd?

Edit

“Chicharito’s future? I’ve already sent him away once, when you score a goal, as he has just done for Real Madrid, are you suddenly different? I don’t think so. I told him the same as I told Danny Welbeck, that he was again a substitute and I didn’t feel that was any good to him.” - van Gaal
Oh. I din't know that statement from Van Gaal. Sounds like "I hate you" to me.

Because they want a striker who can replace Rooney in a couple of years time, as well as challenge him or be backup to him now. Hernandez doesn't do one of those things.

I hope we find someone who fits that description but if we don't I'm happy with Hernandez as backup. He was good for Madrid towards the end of the season and if he plays like that then we're good.

However, it has to be noted that he's not the best fit for our system.

With a functional midfield, I believe Hernandez can flourish in the team.

As he did at Madrid when they played him, yeah. But he's not going to be a top striker, which is what people want us to get in, or someone who can be in the future.

On top of the league
Chicarito was handed over to Real as some gentleman agreement I believe. Real Madrid were basically babysitting him for a season while we play Falcao.

I only hope Woodward takes this little pea and throw him on a plane heading far away from here as soon as possible. Can't stand the sight of him moaning on the bench. He's a nothing player. To see the kind of clubs he's represented is a slap in the face for most average players out there.

Not sure if serious...?

If United were 80 minutes into a game and needed to throw on a striker to get us an equaliser or late winner, there's no player in our squad I'd trust more than Chico to get it for us. Provided Hernandez has quality supply he will score goals. Its that simple. At United he was mismanaged by Moyes and lost his confidence, Rio Ferdinand said as much. You can't look at his career scoring record, or the goals he has scored, and say Hernandez is a nothing player.

I know LVG doesn't like him, but I'd rather to keep him for another year than to buy someone like Benteke for 30m while Rooney would start most of the match (as striker or midfielder) again.

His all round game isnt good enough against top tier teams but against lesser teams where we dominate play he's the ideal striker who can pop up with a goal. As long as he's made aware of the role he'll have at the club keeping him would be a good bit of business.

Quite surprised. Thought his career here was dead and buried.
‘We have Chicharito, maybe Wilson and maybe there comes a surprise. We still have Rooney and he can play in the strikers’ position. All the media last year wrote he has to play there and I listen to the media!’ (Louis Van Gaal, Metro, 18 July 2015, link).

Based on this, it seems like the big question mark in Van Gaal's mind is around Wilson not Hernandez. Van Gaal's clear 'we have Chicharito' but says 'maybe Wilson'. From this quote it seems that Rooney will be the first choice striker, but the 'maybe Wilson' may point to Wilson being loaned out and another forward coming in.

LVG: Little Pea, You are a little shit. You will not play against better teams, but teams not as good, you may play. You do understand this?
