The players aren't fit enough to play a full 90, or even over 60 according to LVG. I wish they'd just mix it up a bit though and play Herrera, Schweini and Schneiderlin together or something.

What CB's are available? Jones, Smalling, McNair(playing RB), Blackett(playing LB, IIRC?), who else?
Might be out of necessity as McNair is playing RB because of no Valencia. I'd have preferred to see Blackett at CB and Blind at LB, or even Carrick at CB and Blind at CM.

Most likely just a way to get as many players involved as possible. Midfield is packed with options and so CB is where he's most likely to get some minutes in preseason with Jones, Smalling and Evans the other options there, McNair playing at RB while Valencia is injured, Shaw and Blackett playing at LB and Rojo still on holiday following Copa America.
Blind will be at CB to help him get fitness as we have more midfielders on tour and very few CB's, so that way everyone will get a chance.
Alternatively he's playing Blind at CB because sometimes he picks dodgy players in defence, like Valencia
