It's also nonsense. Benitez was a very big deal when Liverpool signed him. Finishing ahead of the big two in Spain was a more impressive achievement than beating Bayern in Germany. In terms of players, Torres was a huge coup. Which caused ridiculous levels of excitement.

I don't think it's necessary to hate Liverpool's new boss - what we should mostly concern ourselves about is beating his team.
On another note - and admittedly I may be terribly biased - aside from the legendary Shankly and one-offs like Istanbul, I feel that Liverpool isn't a Romantic club at all. Even when they were winning everything in sight, they often bored me in comparison with United & others; IMO, Jurgen's been carried away by the Romance of the swaying, scarf-holding Kop rather than 'the famously Romantic Liverpool'.

Is it just me that is excited the he's gone there, don't know about anyone else but i long for the days when Utd and Liverpool were the top dogs in the league, feck all these oil clubs trying to buy the title. Utd and Liverpool ARE the Premier League and regardless of how much i despise them, i really want it to be us competing for the title. If LVG gets us flying and Klopp has the effect he potentially can on them, it could make for some classic matches between us. Jan 16th can't come soon enough now

I will quite relish the challenge to be honest. It will also increase the standards in the league as well and it will be interesting how veterans like Arsene and LVG rise up to the challenge posed by a maverick like Klopp.
He absolutely was a big deal. And Torres was a buzzer. Those two would probably be my top two before today.
They still didn't generate quite the same buzz.
edit: might also have to do with circumstances. Rafa's record may have been comparable, but he still didn't have quite the same name in Europe as Klopp - and nothing like the same charisma. And both him and torres came into more established sides going somewhere, looking for someone to take them to the extra level.
Klopp is coming into a gray sinkhole where it wasn't really clear where to go from here and has lit up the place instantly.

I watched the conference and as always, he's likable and his bit about being the normal one I thought was funny. But it other than that I felt the whole thing was a bit meh. He seems super happy though to be there.

It's probably true since he said that the next club he was to manage wouldn't be one of the top clubs, no offence to Liverpool. If I wasn't a United fan I knew who I'd rather take over between Spurs and Liverpool.

I can't bring myself to hate Klopp. Sure, I hate Liverpool FC as an entity but Klopp is a genuine footballing man. He will do well there.
Let's be honest, lightning doesn't strike 7 times. Liverpool were bound to not totally feck something up at some stage. They might get better under Klopp - chances are they will - or the unexpected might happen and Klopp might have as much success as in his final year at Dortmund.
However, Klopp aside, Liverpool are not going to be the uncompetitive fringe team they've been since Benitez left for ever. At some point they will be challenging and people have to come to terms with that.

It's going to be a tough ask for Liverpool to get anything at WHL. However Spurs will not be relishing the prospect of welcoming a newly galvanised LFC either. Surely the players will be well up for this one putting in 100% all over the pitch. Could be a good match. However even if we lose there (which would have been the bookies odds pre-Klopp) then the next 3 matches are all at home and even though Southampton are looking good, we could still see a decent return before Chelsea away (and who knows what state they will be in by that time).

The only thing I can think is that you think him being a part of the 'transfer committee' means he does have direct control over transfers, which is a bit odd. It's exactly the same situation that Rodgers had, and he had at Dortmund. Of course he's going to have an input and they're never going to sign a player he specifically says he doesn't want to sign.
