During all the confusion and investigations when the package was found, surely someone within Old Trafford must have been aware of such a drill taking placing mid-week and would have let someone know "Hang on a minute. That's from the security drill from Wednesday. Just lob it in the bin". The amount of media coverage it was getting, if someone was involved in that drill midweek but wasn't at Old Trafford today, one phone call would have cleared it up.

Would nobody have thought it was a bit of an unbelievable coincidence that staff at Old Trafford were doing bomb security drills on Wednesday, and then A MOTHERfeckING BOMB appears on the next nearest match day?

Come off it.
I reckon even if they did, the disposal crew would have to still destroy the "device".

Well, to be fair, we cant seem to get a break this season. But its life and I will remember this periode as the dark years. We need a change and we need it now.

 What the hell. Unbelievable post.
He's right, it's pathetic.

A report appears saying an external security firm left a dummy device by accident following a training exercise and there's instantly a dozen people slagging off the club when it's feck all to do with them.

It was an external company.

Is there any aspect of our club that's functioning properly? This is unbelievable.

I hope someone ends up compensating the Bournemouth fans.

Tuesday to Saturday is still a decent enough break to recover for the players. Sure they could get injured but could also get injured in training later in the week.
Screw the recovery, play fringe and reserve players, no starters.Take the fine from the FA,the Cup final is more important than this meaningless game. You would have to be mental to play any of the first team so close to a cup final, it would be just giving Palace an advantage.

I didn't want to say this at the the time, but knowing now it was all down to some dumb idiot not doing his job properly, they've done us a favor. We can play the kids on Tuesday and our key players all get a nice long rest.

FFS I will just pretend that it was the real bomb but authorities don't want us to know that so they came up with this story to keep people calm.

I suppose the obvious takeaway from the story is that between Wednesday and Sunday there are no - or at least insufficient - sweeps of the ground. That'll change, you'd imagine.

Piccadilly Gardens and nearby buildings got evacuated a couple of years back because a device was found that turned out to be a laptop in a bag. Better safe than sorry.

This is in no way the fault of the club. Wish all the 'we're an embarrassment' posts would stop.
Not helped by Luckhurst making it look like it was a security drill from the club

Sorry but I disagree with this completely. Yes some of the posts here are childish but it's naive to think it has feck all to do with the club. There must have been oversight and if not there should have been. Maybe some are but I'm not just using this as a tool to slam the club. But I categorically disagree with the notion that something of this scale can be ignored regardless of whether it is just negligence by someone. I've already said the fall out may be on the club or just the security firm, the answer to which I don't know as I don't have the details. But there will definitely be fallout.

I'm taking a postivie spin on things. It proved to be a real life training for those involved in dealing with a bomb. Though it was all from someone ballsing it up, seemed to be dealt with well, which is reassuring.

Yep, much better to believe it was a real bomb and peoples lives were at risk as long as it doesn't risk embarrassing the club. Have a word ffs :houllier:

To be honest if the club employs an incompetent security firm that leaves fake bombs laying around, I would blame them too. They're responsible for their employees and contractors.

Really?
You expect them to take that risk with 76000 people? The club did absolutely the right thing, yes, if they were aware they were doing this kind of training exercise they would have been fairly confident it wasn't going to be harmful, but they have a duty of care to inform the police and then the police will have taken the course of action that was taken today. "Just lob it in the bin". Wow

They most likely used this company 100 times before and something has gone wrong today.

It is embarrassing. But the club isn't entirely at fault.

I have been on one of these sort of things and when I did it , every piece of equipment was counted before and after to stop something like this happening.
Somebody is in deep shit and the Security Company is going to suffer for this big time in court I suspect.
