Declan Kearney, a Northern Ireland Assembly member for Sinn Féin, says his party will push for a poll on whether Northern Ireland should stay in the UK or unite with the Republic of Ireland if the UK votes to leave the EU.
Declan Kearney BBC He says it will be "completely undemocratic" if the majority of people in Northern Ireland vote Remain but are "drawn out of the EU as a result of being carried on the coat-tails" of voters in England.
"Sinn Féin will continue to press... for a border poll under the provisions of the Good Friday Agreement, because this (EU Referendum) will demonstrate palpably a dramatic change in the political landscape of the north," he says.
That, gentlemen, is our next prime minister.
Leave have won Nick. Relax. I genuinely hope the concerns about leaving the EU are wrong, for the sakes of all of us.
That's incredibly hopeful. It is true the huge moves today are exacerbated by uncertainty but in reality there is real damage to our economy which is also driving this, not just uncertainty.Short term we're in serious trouble, hopefully in the medium to long run we look back on this with regrets about all the fuss we made.
lucky git!I moved here 2 and a half years ago , and after this will 100% be going for my citizenship
Nope. 50% plus one vote is enough.Kinell that is close.
I assume there is no minimum margin?
Yeah, just a simple majority will do.Kinell that is close.

Time to stop supporting United?Salford 57:43 in favour of LEAVE
you reckon it is becuase Peter Lim bought Salford city?Salford 57:43 in favour of LEAVE
We are an independent nation, but the fundamental issue with the EU is the law on free movement within the EU. We are a great nation, and perfectly understandable people would want to move here. However, the level of immigration we are seeing is simply not sustainable. I am all for controlled immigration (and I include skilled and non skilled), but not complete free movement that put certain things we think make Britain great on breaking point. But the UK already has this, mate. I understand the EU has some major problems, and even considered leaving (leaned towards it what seems like a long, long time ago), but the fact is that the UK is still an independent, sovereign nation.
I called 55% but was expecting it too be even more. Not really met anyone who said remain here.Salford 57:43 in favour of LEAVE
Thank god. The irony of me doing a visa jobFree movement will still be in action for a solid couple of years yet, just get over there, dig your feet in and marry a nice Dutch girl.
Most definitely. Wishful thinking completely. That's incredibly hopeful. It is true the huge moves today are exacerbated by uncertainty but in reality there is real damage to our economy which is also driving this, not just uncertainty.
Consider it like this. If the GBP had dropped half of what it has, or if the FTSE had dropped half of what it has, then it would still be a monumental decline. That's how bad this is.
Us leaving the EU was always possible, but surely Trump can't get in.I am absolutely stunned. I am genuinly terrified of the future right now, a Trump led United states and now this.
Tell my why this will be okay... and not just Boris slowly diminishing public services?Yeah, just a simple majority will do.
It might as well be 1/100000 because it's happening.1/12 1/20 1/12 1/12
Betting odds right now on a LEAVE win
We already have control of non-EU immigration, yet it is still incredibly high. Why is it not being controlled, then? And why the feck will Brexit change that?We are an independent nation, but the fundamental issue with the EU is the law on free movement within the EU. We are a great nation, and perfectly understandable people would want to move here. However, the level of immigration we are seeing is simply not sustainable. I am all for controlled immigration (and I include skilled and non skilled), but not complete free movement that put certain things we think make Britain great on breaking point.
I'll make two simple examples
- my son needs speech therapy. Not a big issue as a lot of kids have it. We have been on the waiting list for over a year, you know why...after challenging why it's taking so long, i quote...the number of non-English speaking children in the system are a priority at the moment. I've paid taxes since I was 19 and can't have been told to pay private because the NHS can'take support him.
- my team of 8 analysts. 2 Polish, 1 Slovak, 1 Greek, 1 German, 1 Chinese, 1 Chilean, 1 Pakistani. All have arrived within the last 3 years. All amazing and great people who would get in on the point system for sure. my point is simply this level is not sustainable as 5 arrived without a job first.
NilWhat are Cameron's chances of surviving?
Has to be the worst Prime Minister in modern history now. For this alone.David Cameron will go down as the man who took Britain out of Europe and Broke up the Union. What a legend.
I always thought like this but after today I'm genuinely uncertain about anything.Us leaving the EU was always possible, but surely Trump can't get in.
who will be delighted to gain his new shiny cabinet seat as a thank you gift from King Boris afterwardsNil
They will just be talking about making the timing appear civilised. Or they do a deal they ca go back on at any time (Dave will know this).
Still needs a patsy though, the guy that brings him down is still gonna be a bad guy, so the big hitters have to tread carefully
Is surely the main argument for another election. It's going to be awful, just awful. How the hell will this Government and opposition party implement LEAVE when they and all their advisers passionately believe we should REMAIN? Its a complete headfukc.
An utter, utter embarrassment of a human being tbh. He's spent his entire career making little moves to remain in power and do what benefits him, while never committing to anything particularly concrete. If there's one good coming of this it's that his lizard mate George Osborne will be spending the rest of his political career doing lines on the backbenches.Has to be the worst Prime Minister in modern history now. For this alone.
