Rooney is finished

Is Rooney done at the required level?

Funny that Draper is the only one who says Rooney should still play. He was the lead author of the Co92 book and has been their mouthpiece ever since.

Was just on premier league's live Facebook with their fantasy premier league expert , him and some girls were answering questions. She read mine out " is Wayne Rooney finished " and he said something like " I don't think he ever really started in FPL" ... Nail , coffin

That's shocking. Remember when our captains were real hard bastards?
The Herrera/Noble thing from last season still annoys me as does the Memphis/Kyle Walker confrontation. I wanted a full blown 7 v 7 melee for that as we were already 3-0 down.

He played as an inside forward for a couple of years
As a what?

And what years were those exactly? He played as a striker, even during Ronaldo's peak. People like to imply Ronaldo spent years at centre forward for us or something. Even now, for Real, he never plays there.

During Ronaldo's best season, the whole fuss was made about it being a record for a winger. I remember Adebayor coming out and saying he and other strikers need to get more goals, as they can't be out scored by a winger.

To add balance, Park, or at times Hargreaves, played on the other wing. Rooney played upfront, with either Tevez, Saha, or Berbatov. There were a few big CL games where Rooney and Ronaldo were switched by Fergie, with Ronaldo starting centre forward. There was also a spell for a small handful of games where Rooney played on the right, with Ronaldo on the left and Alan Smith through the middle.

I'm not sure what your definition of inside forward is, but he has played his football at 9 or 10, which are his best positions.

I just had a look at his Utd stats on wiki. Firstly it's a huge amount of football for (very mainly) a forward at the absolute top level. 13th season this one. Plenty of appearances each season, lowest is 37 & we know about some quite serious injuries. Goal output is pretty consistent (up to this year,). But there is a little trend of decline since the 2 years he got 34 sandwiched a return of 16. We can list this in 3 groups if you like.

17 19 23 18 20

34 16 34

16 19 14 15 ??

If you see what I mean? I don't know quite how much proper statistical scrutiny it would stand up to but definitely there if you want to see it. The ?? is this season, he has 1 in 7 atm, that'll give him say 6-7 if he plays a lot of games & scores at the same rate. The numbers say he's now (possibly) fallen off the edge of a cliff. Not in a totally different position is he given how much he has played Striker #2 previously.

Of course it is still early days & a scoring run could change the suggested outlook, :wenger:.

Probably jealous that Memphis sold more shirts than he did. Remember he was laughing when Memphis mishit a bicycle kick a few weeks ago. The guy is a snake!

Maybe he'll get there around New Years..If we are being optimistic!
Truly hope he gets dropped and Charlton keeps his record. Sir Bobby = United. Rooney = a good player we bought, played several good seasons and helped us win titles. I know who’s my choice.

Cant believe the amount of people slagging the club captain off on here and taking personal digs.He is one of the greatest players to play for the club this century and banging on the door to be the highest scorer in our history.
Some complete bellends on here i agree hes been shyt but so have several others i hope he plays at the weekend and bags a couple of goals so the hate brigade can move onto someone else.

So there I am in my store waiting in a line. Two guys behind me, one asks the other if he watched the game.
In short, obviously United fans and their connclusions were:
Fellaini needs to go, he's a jerk.
Herrera needs to play with either Carrick or Morgan. Pogba further up.
And Rooney is awful.

United problems are all around, I cant go to buy bread without thinking about or hearing about it. :D

Concluding he's become terrible in football isnt a personal dig. Its a fact.
As for couple of goals, more chance of Earth stopping than that.

So you agree that he's shit but you then go on to insult the people who are criticising him for being shit. Bravo!

You don't know what is being said, FFS.
Agree. We don't at all. You are just doing an unkind caption competition really. He could just as easy be saying ''Is your Mum reffing?'' And laughing at the Northampton Cobblers player not getting a red card as a comedy decision in those terms.

I think the best outcome for both Wayne and Man Utd is for him to go back to his beloved Everton. January transfer window he goes back on a free and we pick up half his wages for the next 3 years.

He could then help everton into 4th place at uniteds expense so very unlikely

"All they can talk about is Manchester United."
I've always backed Rooney and watching us against Feyenoord I thought we missed him, but in the last couple of games it's highlighted to me that his body isn't doing what his brain wants him to anymore. Against Watford especially he looked like he needs glasses, his passing was that bad. The player's still there mentally, but I think physically he's done and it's sad to see.

I think it's funny saying that Rooney is diving opinions. All but one said he's done at being first choice at United.

And the one who said he isn't done was advocating we play him on the wing ffs. Where else does he have to play before some of these cretins finally acknowledge he has no worth to our team?
