Brilliant so far. All the defensive screening work that Fellaini has had a good season doing but much more use on the ball. Played some penetrative balls as well as keeping things ticking.

First choice along with Pogba. Is on another level completely in terms of what he brings to a midfield, compared to painfully limited Fellaini.

The guy has been immense this game. I still think he will not be effective in some of the coming games since he is quite inconsistent. So I hope Mourinho, unlike LvG, doesn't put him on bench after one-two under-par performances. The guy needs to play regularly.

On this evidence, he and Pogba should start every game - either with Mata/Micky in front of them or Carrick behind them, depending on circumstance.

His first touch passing is incredibly underrated, he can brings so much to our play if he can play good regulary. That first touch pass with his left to Ibrahimovic for that counter attack is obvious example.

Looking over my shoulder.
He's amazing - with Herrera you get energy and quick feet; with Pogba you get strength, power and finesse, and with Mata you get close control and creativity (Pogba also offers that). It's an amazing trio really.

We should be building our midfield around him and Pogba. Noone else in our team can move the ball as quickly as him.

Everywhere today... he honestly looks so much better as a holding mid because he plays with more discipline. As a box to box he gets sloppy at times, brilliant at that deeper role

To be fair to him, he's been good in our weaker performances too. I had a hunch Mourinho might suit him, he's an all-rounder and a scrapper, neither of which were exactly Van Gaal-friendly qualities.

Players like him and Lingard on the pitch will always give you positive, purposeful football, even in games where the result doesn't go your way.

Really impressed with him, one of the few bright spots in the team when we were losing too.

He more than anyone is the one to thank for this performance by the team. No suprise really, he was also a big part on our best games with gaal. But Gaal just didn't see it.

Its the best feature of his game if you ask me. Raises our tempo and even if its sideways if it is done at tempo it is always positive.

Jose is going to mould this lad into something important for us. He seems the type would do anything for the team.
He IS the type and has done anything for the team. Changed his game to suit LVG to his own detriment, got shafted around with playing minutes, plays his heart out every pre-season, gets shafted with playing (for LVG and Mourinho) and now changes his game (for the better imo) for Mourinho and he's getting a start.

Long may it continue. I don't think him as holding will be the answer against better midfields as that's asking too much from a two man midfield but we have to build a team with him in it.

Loved his pass to Zlatan in the 1st half. Had Rash scored that, would have been some goal!

Seemed to pick up a slight injury at the end. Hope he's ok to play next week. Exceptional last two games.

Ander did an amazing Xabi Alonso impression in that first half. His interceptions, aggression and positioning gave Pogba and others a platform. His passing was also incredibly consistent and cleverly judged: forward when opportunities were on, safe if the situation required it. Excellent.

I voted pogba MotM based off his goal but it was basically tied between pogba and herrera. Herrera's work rate is UNBELIEVABLE. He's all over the pitch, flying into tackles, quick passing to get the attack moving and doesn't mind having a shot.

Also, looks like pogba trusts him more than fellaini.

He adds much needed energy in midfield, which frees up Pogba to influence the game further up the pitch.

I just want him to get a good run in the side. If he has an iffy game, which he will, give him more time. He could be a really crucial player in the team if we finally afford him the luxury of regular games.

He's been doing well in general lately, had a few decent performances. Hope he continues in the team.

Now all the people who wrote him off despite his amazing season under LVG showing his class can go away as he now hopefully starts to come back to being one of the best midfielders in the league if he keeps playing like that

What? He didn't have an amazing season under LVG (decent at best) and he's never been one of the best midfielders in the league. Doing very well right now though, can hopefully go from strength to strength.

2 tackles

6 interceptions

3 clearances

1 block

I still think he'd be better just in front of a defensive midfielder in a three, but he did very well as a holding midfielder today.
