TBH, he was playing with more people on his level today than in previous games which always helps.

Some of his stuff through the middle was fantastic. He has that arrogance you want somebody in midfield to have. The price tag wont affect him at all, he will embrace it. We jus need to put the pieces to help get thebest out of him. Having Herrera will certainly help. Having him link with Zlatan and Rashford will help.

Benefited from our most balanced midfield performance this season so hopefully we stick with the same set-up for the time being. The goal should help settle him down and we need to see more of today, who knows maybe even better, from this point onward.

That was much better. He still has a lot more to improve on, but having Herrara and Mata beside him instead of the useless Rooney and Fellaini made a big difference.

Him and Ibra, I think. After the first goal they both puffed their chests out and decided they were going to stamp some authority on the game - it was palpable. Neither of them lack the arrogance to do so with Rooney on the pitch but it's natural to defer to the captain on some level.
Don't think they deferred but rather couldn't play their way with Rooney in the way. It's harsh but true.

Just caught up with the game, holy moly at that scoop pass for the Ibrahimovic turn and volley, to see that pass and execute that is just

Obviously it's speculation but it seems like the price tag made him feel like he had to show what the fuss was about every time he had the ball, and that he over-extended himself as a result. A bit of restraint and picking his spots, and you get a performance like today. Long may it continue, because he certainly had his best game for us today. In all the previous matches, even if he looked decent, there would be stretches where he seemed to be invisible, and he would spend a lot of energy carrying the ball, trying to look spectacular.

I can't remember why I joined this war.

I agree. It's like in the France team where all hopes were pinned on him and in the first couple of games he tried to do everything but ended up looking bad as a result of it. If he concentrates on just doing his job on the field he will find his footing soon enough and show everyone why he is rated as one of the best midfielders in the world.

One of the reason why stats doesn't tell full story. He played so many great passes but our players didn't finish so nothing to show in assists column. Some of his good passes weren't used properly like shot on goal so he won't have much in chances created column.

Anyways he was very good. His passing was crisp and always attacking passes. Good that he opened goal scoring account too.

Has a lot of great qualities, but by far the most important thing that he brings to the table right now is the willingness to take some amount of risk with the ball. He's not afraid to turn when he receives the ball with his back against the goal, and he's willing to play a forward pass more often than not.

We still have far too many players who are content to just take the backward pass, because it's safe and simple.

Other than that, very good display from Pogba today, especially in the first half. Good to see that he has it in him to control the game, contrary to what seems to be the popular opinion.

Just goes to show that if you surround him with quality, he'll shine.

We need to accept he's not a Messi/Ronaldo type who will win games for us on his own, he needs to have a solid team built around him.

But but he is the player who won't suit ManUtd and only signed for commercial reasons and just to buy shiny toy? At least that's what "Einsteins" here said.

Really affected the game in the final third today. Sprayed some great long balls too.

Is there anyone better in world football when he plays like this? as a central midfielder of course. Truly unstoppable.
As an impact midfielder, probably not. Overall - Iniesta (even now), Modric, Kroos, Vidal and Verratti can provide performances of similar quality regularly, although they would be very different to what he does.

Amazing, absolute joy to watch  He probably showboats more than anyone on that list that I posted (and it's great!)

Ridiculous player. Plays like a giant version of Iniesta at times. What stood out today, amongst other things, is the way he manipulates his body and positioning before receiving the ball in the midfield. This allows him to better transition into attacking the opposition through a run or an attacking through ball.

He's honestly one of the most complete players I've ever watched. It'll be fascinating to see how Mourinho moulds his game over the next few years because there's quite a few ways he can go about it. Does he turn him into his Lampard, i.e a goal scoring midfielder? Or more of Zidane type playmaker. Or a box to box midfielder, like Steven Gerrard at his peak?

And I honestly think even Mourinho doesn't probably know how exactly to play him yet. Very exciting stuff, this.

I don't think I ever read a comment on here that said we were only buying him for commercial reasons

Gutted that long range shot didn't go in!

From that point onwards everything went right for him, just seemed to really be in the zone today.

Loved his header too, held off Fuch like he was an u18 player

First he was smashing them into row Z, then he hit the crossbar against Watford, today he got it on target and forced a corner.

He's getting closer to scoring long rangers every game :D
lol yep let's hope he goes 1 better against stoke.

Love it when he gets physical and pushes people away when shielding the ball.

Today showed Pog has a unique skill set, no other player has his first touch, composure and vicious shooting, while standing at 6'3 and rarely injured....

The way he picked out Ibra couple of times was World Class. He would shine in teams that make offensive runs . Unfortunately we do it too little to get the best out of him.

Only complaint that I had about Pogba during his time at Juventus is how he trips on the ball and falls down when he tries to pull some trick moves.

Oh yes...collecting yellow by run into the opponent because he couldn't catch up with the opponent and could stop in time. (He wasn't really like that until Evra joined...)

I always thought Iniesta is more of dribbler than passing type of player, but sure. As long as he doesn't turn himself into a ball hog, everything should turn out good for all of us.

Finally the team set up to get the best out of him! No one running in his way. I'm sorry for mentioning Rooney, but he has been detrimental to Pogba and Zlatan especially. Pogba is a class player, and we should do everything to accommodate him.

Call me insane but his performance today reminded me of how Zidane used to play football. What a player.

He was much better today, he played Ibrahimovic in a fair few times which could've led to more goals.

Yep, Him and Ibra were jumping in to that space in between the lines that is usually taken up and it was hugely beneficial. Mata is such an intelligent number ten in terms of positioning, he knows if pogba is coming forward to make a little space for himself but not get in his way and the same if Ibra is coming back, it doesn't actually count for him on any stat as it can't be measured but he is great at sharing and creating space.
