I don't see the people who are voting for Trump being okay with his policies not being enacted by 2018 and believe that they will vote into office Representatives and Senators who will accomplish his legislative goals.

If it comes to it hopefully he ruins everything and this is the sharp and hard lesson that was needed.
Yep. But the the results so far suggest the polls got it wrong and more people are going out and voting for Trump than the polls could predict.. If that continues, he wins.

Fair to say faith in polls is now pretty low, but there's also the matter that they seems to have been off by about 4% this time, whereas Corbyn is currently behind by 15%. But regardless, I stopped complaining a month or two back and recognise he'll get a GE to prove it one way or the other.I would too if I was American.

I don't see how Republicans in the House and Senate can go against him, at least in the short term. Tea Party/ Trumpites would kill them in their next primaries if they did.
