Whats this game for?

I only put it on to see if Pirlo and Lampard are still decent. But no they are getting dominated by PL legend Altidore
Basically like the QF (second leg) for the whole thing

For the league title? Or is it like the FA Cup?

This is the first MLS game I've seen and I have to say it's pretty good. Not sure how Viera ended up managing in America but he looks like he's about to cry

Thanks

Looking at that link...LA Galaxy with Stevie G got knocked out by the Colorado Rapids with...Kevin Doyle!
Yeah these teams with (old) well known players don't tend to very well. Orlando with Kaka, etc! They're just too slow and don't have the legs anymore....nor the aggression/commitment IMHO

Yeah the likes of David Villa have been shite in this match. Googled it and I'm really surprised he's younger than our Ibra

No surprise to see Toronto win, by far the better side and much smarter with their DP's. Should be some atmosphere in Montreal might try and go to it

Indeed, this all-Canadian final is going to be massive.

I was hoping that the home leg would be played in BMO Field, and I'm very glad that it is being played there. I want football matches to be played on proper football pitches. I'm not a fan of football matches being played on the Rogers Centre. The pitch there is not suitable for football.

And the best part is that the Toronto crowd psyched him out big time. Normally, these sort of players tend to stay calm and composed in the MLS, but against TFC at home, Villa looked unsettled, and it showed in his performance.

I must say, for all of the criticism I gave Vanney, at least he learns his lessons and sets up his teams right for the matches. He realised the weaknesses we had in the regular season and fixed them with the 3-5-2 and the shrewd loan signing of Armando Cooper (please keep him for next season!). I really have been impressed with how he's developed as a coach in the past couple of years.

If I had to rank TFC's top 5 best performers, it would be like this:
  1. Giovinco (no idea how he wasn't nominated for the top 3 of the MLS MVP award)
  2. Zavaleta
  3. Irwin
  4. Altidore
  5. Cheyrou
Moor and Bradley have only turned up for the playoffs this season whilst being generally poor with their performances, and Cooper only recently came into the side, else id have him in my top 5.

I included Cheyrou in there because he was the player who turned our form around by providing a calmness and assurance to the midfield. His playmaking repertoire brought the best out of Giovinco, and his reading of the game made our midfield more solid.

Of course, but remember what happened when TFC faced LA Galaxy in the CONCACAF Champions League a few years ago? That was played in the Rogers Centre. TFC already made a great choice to stay in the BMO Field for the Eastern Conference final. I'm just hoping that they make the same choice if we do get past the Impact.

Wasn't close to MLS then :nervous:
Why would they do that? Anyway guessing a newly refurbed BMO field sorts all of that out...

Probably because they could potentially make more money out of the matchday via the Rogers Centre. I just hope that they don't do that. The BMO Field has to be set as our home, and we should continue to play there. It's football pitch is the best I've seen in North America, and it suits our team's passing game quite well, too.

But the attendance has been ramped up, much difference between the two?

edit: just seen, Rogers = 18k-ish, BMO = 31k-ish

No way does the Rogers Centre have 18k-is seats. Its capacity for football matches is more than 45k (I know this because I watched Manchester United vs. Celtic there 5 years ago, and the attendance was confirmed to be more than that amount). The BMO Field will go up to 31k at most.

Anyways, I do think that MLSE will let us play in the BMO Field throughout the season, but I still have that small doubt about them given how they allowed the Argonauts to play in the BMO Field as well as have the Grey Cup final be hosted in the same stadium.

Toronto FC and Montreal Impact game delayed because penalty area was measured too small!!

Unbelievable and small time. Delay is said to be 20 mins. 60 thousand in attendance. Oh ya, game is being played on artificial turf in a stadium that`s an eye sore and falling apart.

Go TFC!

They are literally painting the penalty area lines green and waiting to paint new white lines. Couldn`t make this up.

Couldn't they just have moved the bits of carpet around with the white bits on them?

I kind of expected that typical Toronto mental weakness to rear up today. We didn't look settled and mentally prepared to play this match, and only when we went down 2-0 did we start to settle down and start playing our game, but even then, Montréal look comfortable, and I wouldn't be surprised if they win 3-0 again like last season.
