Oh FFS, they are doing a remake of American Werewolf in London.
That is not the worst, Grinner. Rumour has it that there is a remake of Big Trouble In Little China in the works.

...produced by and featuring Dwayne Johnson, and no I am not kidding. Really wish I was though.

American Werewolf could work , better CGI and all that , it could work !! but BTILC just no that is a classic that should not be messed with.

Effects in American Werewolf are some of the finest in the history of film media. Iconic, and still looking great. They may CGI them in remake, but it won't look as good, I'm sure.

The Howling effects and film as a whole kind of got eclipsed by American WW in Lahndahn. Jenny Agutter's tits helped bigly.

Is he going to play Kurt Russell's role?
I reckon, since he will be producing it and all he probably will have the lead. Can you imagine, from produced by Carpenter and starring Russel to produced by Du-waaayne Johnson and starring the same..ffs

Rumours are that it will be directed by the son of Jon Landis. That has made me feel a bit better about this news. If they stick with practical effects and minimise the CGI then it could be decent.

I have seen every horror film ever. Ever. Here's a few that are decent'ish.

If you haven't seen Tusk then it's probably best you keep it that way. Those who like the absolutely ridiculously/hilariously fecked up, give it a go. Seriously, you ain't ever seen anything like this.

People going on about The Thing should watch the 50's version. Dated? Of course. It's still a belter if you can appreciate stuff from the dawn of true Sci-fi films.

They Live is a class act. Way ahead of it's time with it's subliminal messaging theme. Full of 80's cheese which is just an added bonus.

Identity Was a bit of an head feck back before every other horror film had a 'twist'.

1408 is well worth a watch. Didn't expect much but definitely enjoyed it.

DO NOT WATCH THIS ...Seriously, don't.

The Cabin in the Woods
was a fresh take on the genre. It's like a mixture of Malcolm in the Middle and Friday the 13th. Good fun.

Trick 'r' Treat. It's a bit like Malcolm in the Middle....well, not so much this time, but it's still a bit daft.

Pandorum. A bit like Alien. Maybe. I think it's definitely worth a watch.

The House of The devil
. It's got a (deliberate) retro feel to it. Decent, edgy horror though.

Event Horizon. Have people not watched this? It's a proper space horror. Not seen it for years but loved it back then and I'm going to assume it holds up still, and won't let anybody say otherwise. Even if they're right.

The Texas chain Saw Massacre (1971). I'd assume everybody would have seen this, but since Alien and the Thing are new to some people I'd best recommend this. Brutal watching it as an 8 year old.

Noroi: The Curse.
Solid Asian Horror. If that's your thing.

Banshee Chapter. Probably a bit shit going off the IMDB rating. I enjoyed it though. Definitely creepy.

V/H/S. Or it's sequals. Several horror subplots well sown together (perhaps) with a binding background plot.

As Above, So below. Solid, claustrophobic horror.

U.F.O Abduction (a.k.a. The Mcpherson tape). All sorts of shite flying around it being a genuine tape and I've not seen it since I was a teen, but I loved it back then.

That's by no means a comprehensive 'best of' list. Just a few worth watching (or, in the case of one or two, not worth watching IF you are a normal person).
I ended up watching it, I don't recommend it to anyone else, it's just so wrong. :nono:

We are still here (2015)

just watched this one and i can highly recommend it. It has several elements from classic horror movies.

I'm glad i gave it a chance... had it on my library for a long time, but the imdb rating was putting me off i guess.

Not super scary or tense movie, but definitely good fun. Enjoyed more than the latest horror movies from hollywood.
Watched that the other day and yeah I agree it was decent.

"It Follows" was great. Maika Monroe is quite nice and I liked the whole 80s sound and atmosphere.

Haven't seen half of those. Will check them out. Wouldn't class The Invitation as horror? The Babadook was great.

The Cabinet of Dr Calgari, Nosferatu(1922), Nosferatu the vampyre(1979), Frankenstein(1931), Dracula:Prince of Darkness(1966), Psycho(1960), Night of the living dead, House of wax(1953) Hour of the wolf(1968), The Omen(1976), The Exorcist, The Shining(1980), Carrie (1976), Alien, The Thing from another world(1951), The Thing( 1982) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974), The Hills have eyes(1977), Don't look now(1973) Halloween(not that Rob Zombie muck), Friday the 13th part 2, The Brood, Phantasm, Alice sweet alice (1976), The Wicker Man(1973), Black Christmas(1974), Deep Red(1975), The Sentinel, Suspiria, Martin(1978), Dead of night(1974), The beast must die, Eaten Alive, A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984) Child's play, The Amityville horror(1979), Poltergeist(1982), An American Werewolf in London, The Fly(original and remake), Re-Animator, The Changeling, The Entity, Invasion of the body snatchers(1978), When a stranger calls(1979), Ringu, Cube, The Blair Witch project(1999), Candyman, IT(first half), Salem's lot, Misery, Silence of the Lambs, The people under the stairs, The Devils Backbone, Jacob's ladder, The Witch(2015), The Conjuring, The Babadook, Sinister, Kill List, Antichrist, The Descent, Begotten, Eraserhead

I'm leaving out all other zombiesque films like Evil Dead 1 and 2, Dawn of the Dead, Zombi ect...I love them but maybe too much humour for some. Same goes for Vampire themed films like Near Dark or The Lost boys. Crossed genres maybe like Predator/The Terminator are not included because in my opinion they branch off also, Sci Fi/Action ect. I'm aware that Rosemary's Baby, Scream, Hellraiser and some others are not listed, it's just my preference. In my opinion the golden age of Horror was the 1970's. It's my favourite decade of cinema. We will never get that amazing time back, they pumped out one after another. The true masters of cinema rose from that time period. They were given more creative freedom and new ideas and concepts were explored. Horror was taken out of ancient castles, it came back with no boundaries. I still have great appreciation for Price, Lee and Cushing though.

People may argue that some films I listed are maybe more psychological thrillers too. It's just my interpretation in the end. I really wish they would stop remaking classic films too. I have a few adaptations listed but it's a completely different take. An example would be John Carpenter's The Thing, it's completely different from original. A take or adaptation of the book 'Who goes there?'. Nosferatu and the 1979 version, completely different in tone and setting. Invasion of the body snatcher's 1956 is rubbish in my opinion compared to Kaufman's late 70's take. Yeah and Feck Saw and Paranormal activity 19 or whatever number there on now. I don't care how much that franchise took in, an average idea that spawned average sequels. The only good thing it done was give an opening to others within the genre. Anyway, enough ranting, enjoy caf.

Watched 'It Follows' last night, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Explains nothing to you, you're basically being stalked by the slowest killer of all time.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was better than I expected. A nice blend of backwoods Ed Gein America and 1970's Terrence Malick Texas.

I might just keep up this horror streak I'm on, I've got my sights on Profondo Rosso and Trouble Every Day.

I liked that aspect of it, film makers are too intent on explaining every last detail of exactly what is going on. Too much exposition takes away some of the tension.

I think it's a marmite film. I personally think it's one of the best horror films of the modern era.
