they just made such a hash of 3, I would love somebody to remake it.I seem to remember asking you to confirm that the fourth was not a TV movie rip-off! Sad to see the trilogy peter out like that but shouldn't be allowed to detract from the first one as a genuine classic. Poor old Bugenhagen.
Paul Verhoeven.they just made such a hash of 3, I would love somebody to remake it.
That is not the worst, Grinner. Rumour has it that there is a remake of Big Trouble In Little China in the works.Oh FFS, they are doing a remake of American Werewolf in London.
American Werewolf could work , better CGI and all that , it could work !! but BTILC just no that is a classic that should not be messed with. That is not the worst, Grinner. Rumour has it that there is a remake of Big Trouble In Little China in the works.
...produced by and featuring Dwayne Johnson, and no I am not kidding. Really wish I was though.
Is he going to play Kurt Russell's role? That is not the worst, Grinner. Rumour has it that there is a remake of Big Trouble In Little China in the works.

I reckon, since he will be producing it and all he probably will have the lead. Can you imagine, from produced by Carpenter and starring Russel to produced by Du-waaayne Johnson and starring the same..ffsIs he going to play Kurt Russell's role?
The Thing says hello. The best horror movie ever made is The Exorcist. Nothing comes close except maybe The Shining for me.
It's just personal preference for the source material that I still prefer The Exorcist. I find Reagan's story much more gripping. And of course, I don't think there's a more shocking scene in cinema history than the crucifix and head-spinning scenes, and the language in them. The Thing says hello.
Yeah it would be my favourite tooThe best horror movie ever made is The Exorcist. Nothing comes close except maybe The Shining for me.
Rumours are that it will be directed by the son of Jon Landis. That has made me feel a bit better about this news. If they stick with practical effects and minimise the CGI then it could be decent.Oh FFS, they are doing a remake of American Werewolf in London.
Just saw this again ffs
Just saw this again ffs
That's brilliant
I ended up watching it, I don't recommend it to anyone else, it's just so wrong.I have seen every horror film ever. Ever. Here's a few that are decent'ish.
If you haven't seen Tusk then it's probably best you keep it that way. Those who like the absolutely ridiculously/hilariously fecked up, give it a go. Seriously, you ain't ever seen anything like this.
People going on about The Thing should watch the 50's version. Dated? Of course. It's still a belter if you can appreciate stuff from the dawn of true Sci-fi films.
They Live is a class act. Way ahead of it's time with it's subliminal messaging theme. Full of 80's cheese which is just an added bonus.
Identity Was a bit of an head feck back before every other horror film had a 'twist'.
1408 is well worth a watch. Didn't expect much but definitely enjoyed it.
DO NOT WATCH THIS ...Seriously, don't.
The Cabin in the Woods was a fresh take on the genre. It's like a mixture of Malcolm in the Middle and Friday the 13th. Good fun.
Trick 'r' Treat. It's a bit like Malcolm in the Middle....well, not so much this time, but it's still a bit daft.
Pandorum. A bit like Alien. Maybe. I think it's definitely worth a watch.
The House of The devil. It's got a (deliberate) retro feel to it. Decent, edgy horror though.
Event Horizon. Have people not watched this? It's a proper space horror. Not seen it for years but loved it back then and I'm going to assume it holds up still, and won't let anybody say otherwise. Even if they're right.
The Texas chain Saw Massacre (1971). I'd assume everybody would have seen this, but since Alien and the Thing are new to some people I'd best recommend this. Brutal watching it as an 8 year old.
Noroi: The Curse. Solid Asian Horror. If that's your thing.
Banshee Chapter. Probably a bit shit going off the IMDB rating. I enjoyed it though. Definitely creepy.
V/H/S. Or it's sequals. Several horror subplots well sown together (perhaps) with a binding background plot.
As Above, So below. Solid, claustrophobic horror.
U.F.O Abduction (a.k.a. The Mcpherson tape). All sorts of shite flying around it being a genuine tape and I've not seen it since I was a teen, but I loved it back then.
That's by no means a comprehensive 'best of' list. Just a few worth watching (or, in the case of one or two, not worth watching IF you are a normal person).
Watched that the other day and yeah I agree it was decent. We are still here (2015)
just watched this one and i can highly recommend it. It has several elements from classic horror movies.
I'm glad i gave it a chance... had it on my library for a long time, but the imdb rating was putting me off i guess.
Not super scary or tense movie, but definitely good fun. Enjoyed more than the latest horror movies from hollywood.
Haven't seen half of those. Will check them out. Wouldn't class The Invitation as horror? The Babadook was great. There have been many good horror films over the last few years:
It Follows
The Babadook
The Last Shift
Hush
The Invitation
Starry Eyes
The Canal
We Are Still Here
Lights Out
The Conjuring
I guess Invitation might not be but I'm sure all horror fans would love it.Haven't seen half of those. Will check them out. Wouldn't class The Invitation as horror? The Babadook was great.
Watched The last shift, lights out and starry eyes tonight, all worth a watch. There have been many good horror films over the last few years:

Have any of you guys seen the Netflix original 'I AM the pretty thing that lives in the house'?Watched The last shift, lights out and starry eyes tonight, all worth a watch.
Probably It Follows due to how unique it is...Which is the best fim on DS's list though, folks?
Lights out was crap, of the rest I've only seen Babadook and The conjuring and I really enjoy them. Gonna give the Invitation and It follows a go tonight. There have been many good horror films over the last few years:

I liked that aspect of it, film makers are too intent on explaining every last detail of exactly what is going on. Too much exposition takes away some of the tension.Watched 'It Follows' last night, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Explains nothing to you, you're basically being stalked by the slowest killer of all time.
I liked the soundtrack.Watched 'It Follows' last night, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Explains nothing to you, you're basically being stalked by the slowest killer of all time.
I think it's a marmite film. I personally think it's one of the best horror films of the modern era.Watched 'It Follows' last night, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Explains nothing to you, you're basically being stalked by the slowest killer of all time.
Have you seen The Orphanage? The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was better than I expected. A nice blend of backwoods Ed Gein America and 1970's Terrence Malick Texas.
I might just keep up this horror streak I'm on, I've got my sights on Profondo Rosso and Trouble Every Day.
